Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

Suggestions please: my old crappy armband iPhone holder thingy has finally bit the dust. Not the best timing but I still have time to get one from Amazon and have it in time. Mine was old and not that great, I just couldn't justify getting a new one until it was no longer useful. And now it is not! Does anyone have one that they recommend for iPhone 6s?

I bought the lifeproof armband. I bought it on amazon where it was cheaper, but there is a lot of info on it on the lifeproof website too. Basically it has a small magnet piece that you attach to the back of your phone case. (not very intrusive at all) It magnets (with a switch for safety) onto the lifeproof armband. The coolest thing is that you can just reach over, flick a switch, and turn your phone to take it off. Easy to answer or take off to take pictures and goes back on the same way. Easy to do while running. Also the magnet is universal for the handlebar mount, belt clip, car mount etc that they make.

Also wondering if sweat is a problem for the phone. :)

I have a pair of capris from target with pockets on the thighs that I put my phone and other stuff in. Yes it can be a problem but not really. I put my case against my leg so it's not my phone getting damp. My license etc can also get damp in the other pocket but I don't notice that I'm sweaty until I take stuff out of my pockets and it's only the stuff right against my leg that gets that way. Considering the alternative is a belt that I mess with the whole run, I'm much happier with the pants with pockets. I have two pair :)

I know for normal park hours, you can enter Epcot through the IG in the morning. I was wondering if after the half marathon, with a park ticket, you can enter Epcot through the front gate (assumed it is open), walk through, and exit through the IG. I ask, because we're at the Boardwalk. I thought that, in the past, if you started walking towards WS prior to 11am, they tried to stop you (pre-Frozen; wrong section of WS). Anybody do this post-race, when staying at an Epcot resort?

I don't know for sure, but I would think you'd be able to. If people can come in the International Gateway, I don't see why you couldn't leave through there.

There might be too many wristbands?
Your MagicBand.
A wristband for Coast to Coast or Castle to Chateau.
A wristband for Lumiere's Challenge.

Adding a third would only confuse the issue. But it would be better than mailing the tickets. If they are going to mail hard tickets, they should put them in the envelope that everyone receives when they get their bib. I understand that there could be some fraudulent activity though.

I had three wristbands for the PDC this year, and it was super annoying. Although to be fair, I'm someone that hates any wristbands and never wears a watch. Even the single one for Castle to Chateau in Paris bothered the hell out of me and it was only for two days.

Do you mind sharing which awesome capris you got with a link? :)

They are the lululemon outrun crop. I've only bought them in the store and I've seen other colors than what is offered online. In the summer, they also had shorts that were similar but they aren't currently making them anymore.

I've worn either the capris or shorts on my training runs with my phone in the pocket. I haven't had a problem so far :yay:

They had some of those on clearance in my store over the weekend for $59.

I have some Photo Pass questions. I did the advance purchase and have it linked to my reservation. Now I'm not really sure how it works. I know I have to link my bib to it but do I do that before or after the race? Also how does it work for the ride and park photos? do I scan my Magic Band at the rise some where? Thanks!!

It links after the race. If the PhotoPass is on your account it links with the MagicBands on your account for rides, etc.

I'm almost certain that you can do this (and it is our plan after the half as well, since we are also at Boardwalk). Les Halles in France is open at 9 am for breakfast, and that is just past the IG, so anyone should be able to walk that direction.

get some bluetooth headphones and a spibelt. my wife loves hers and she is very picky. i'm really liking the products by anker lately. she has the NB10 headphones. they also make an armband - only $7. they sell all their stuff through amazon and it is prime eligible.
I guess I was thinking of using the armband so i could have my phone 'out' to access quickly in case of character photos but either way I'll have to remove it from somewhere. And since I already have a SPIbelt and a flipbelt I'll save myself the trouble and use one of those like you said. I wasn't planning to listen to music too much but I wanted to hear my run app telling me what my pace is and such. :) Thanks!

Silly question....but do ALL of the WDW resorts offer bus transportation to this race and race expo? There is no "host resort" situation is there?

All on-property resorts, plus Swolphin, are host resorts. :thumbsup2
Thank goodness. Its late to be asking this type of question. But this is my and my friends FIRST runD experience. And she bumped into someone that is also running and told her she has to rent a car because her disney resort isn't a host resort. So I kind of panicked being the one that planned this whole ordeal! Thanks for the quick response.

Which resort?

Sounds like she was given outdated information. This is the first year that all resorts are host resorts so I could see someone making that mistake.

But if you go to https://www.rundisney.com/travel/disneyworld/ and click the Wine & Dine section, there is confirmation there:

"...when you stay at any Walt Disney World® Resort during the Disney Wine & Dine Marathon Weekend, transportation to all race weekend events is provided."

That is what I thought as well. We're at POFQ. I do not know where this other person is staying, other than it is on-property. It does sound like she is going off of old info.
