Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

Maybe I missed this earlier in the thread (but there are 102 pages already!), but is anyone else who is running the 10K planning on going right back to Epcot for the day? For the short time we are there, that day works best for me. I just don't want to be too tired/sore to enjoy the park. Plus, it's a Saturday during F&W so I'm sure it will be extra crowded.
I HAVE to have a shower afterward. :crazy2:

That's always a big motivator for me toward the end of any race - "keep going! Soon you get to shower and be clean and dry again!" (I sweat a lot :upsidedow)

Don't forget that you'll need a ticket to get in the park! :) But will the park even be open yet? If the race starts at 5:30 AM or whatever I think you'll have awhile to wait...

I don't think I'll be going right into the park, but we may head in for a few hours after we have showered and eaten breakfast. If we weren't doing the Challenge, I'd definitely go to a park afterward, but we do need to worry about resting up and getting to bed early for the half the next day.

Just wanted to share, cause I'm so pumped!!! My original POT for this was 1:04 which was disappointing for me, but I raced again this morning and cracked the hour 59:00!!! No idea what corral for the Challenge this will correlate to but I'm ecstatic at the opportunity to move up :)

Awesome job!! :yay:

We are planning on doing the Parisian Breakfast (awesome!) after the 10K. Probably time to get back to the room and shower, but since there are two of us (one of whom is not fast in the shower  ), and we don't like to rush through the finish line festivities, we will likely do the baby wipe bath and have a change of clothes in our check bags. We would prefer to go to breakfast in our costumes, but Disney frowns on adults dressing up. :sad2: :teeth:

Looking forward to my last Saturday sleeping in until late November. Now if I could manage to sleep past 730 ☺

So, did I just miss this long ago (late to the party...), or did anyone else notice the after party start time moved from 8pm to 10pm? Early entry still at 8pm, though. Not unexpected, as now Disney will not have to kick everyone out of EP early to let the after party ticket holders in.
So, the party now starts two hours later, but ends at the same time. :sad2: For non-runners (friends and family), that's $26+ per hour for the privilege of buying food. More expensive than last year, and the party ends three hours sooner! :(
And while I'm ranting...:duck:do you think events such as last year's Pre-race Taste or Welcome Reception will come back? Seems to be fewer pre- and post-parties or events this year. Some of them were actually worth while!

I hadn't seen that. I had been hoping the entry of 8 would get moved up an hour or two. I hadn't looked at park hours just had thought it closed at 9 with illumations at 9 since the party was going on. Hoping all the rides are open, we are hoping to go on the frozen ride with a small or no wait, haha, and meet joy and sadness. Monday is a sleep in day, we are doing mvmcp, so we won't mind staying til the end if we can stay awake without a nap :)

We'll had back to the resort to shower before hitting a park, but we will go straight to a park after cleaning up (walking the parks after race helps with any stiffness/soreness). I have seen people still in their running attire with bib attached at the parks after races too, so probably just put clean up stuff in a gear bag to check if you aren't going back to the resort to shower first.

Yep, we will have tickets. It starts at 5:30 but I'm sure I'll be in a later start group and I'm not a fast runner so who knows what time it will be when I'm done. Plus then dealing with bus back to resort & back to Epcot. This is all so new to me!

O I'll definitely have to go back to room to collect my daughter! She would be mighty peeved if I went to Epcot without her. She is a teenager so highly doubtful she'll be up to cheer for me at the finish line.

Congrats on a great race!

Ugh, I didn't sleep in, but didn't run. I'm going to print up my training plan and adjust the runs to meet my September half needs. There's something about having the Disney training plan hanging on my fridge and seeing it every day that motivates me!

And I am definitely a person who likes to shower and rest up before heading to the parks. But I'm also doing the challenge and know that 10K will be a day we need to take it easy to prep for the half.

How's everyone's training going or getting started? Just about 4 months to go! I got a very soggy 7ish in this morning, we've had hot/humid then today was 60 and rain so it was nice to be cool for a change, but the rain made me feel like a drowned rat! My knee is tweaked a little, seems to be something I do often, it heals and the I do it again. Think it's not really running caused but life caused as in my dog jumps on me and I step back funny or something, got to watch it and prevent it from happening again & again.

Now... for my funny not so funny DREAM/NIGHTMARE the other night...So, I show up at 5:30am for the Holiday 5k to meet my brothers... who aren't there, text them and apparently it's really 6:30am and they are done running, I guess I never changed my watch to FL time and they didn't bother to wake me up. So, I just start running...and it's all inside of Splash Mountain, that has no water but more like a huge cave with the animatronics...and we had to collect food on paper plates the whole race. It was so weird.....but very vivid to remember.

3 weeks until our goal 10k to see if we can improve our POT submissions. We went to the park where the race will be, and ran the trail it will be on. I can't find the exact course online anywhere, but I think I know the rough route and turn around point. DW did around 6.5 miles, and I made it to 10 miles, at a pace on par with the 10 mile races I've run. Now we're foam rolling and getting out The Stick to loosen up.

I just recently started running again after an injury and I have vacation time during this week. Are there any bibs available anywhere for the 10k or Half? I desperately want to do this :(

If you go on the RunDisney site there's lists of charities and travel agencies. Just randomly clicking on travel providers I saw one that had 10k packages available and another had half marathon packages only. The catch is you have to book room and tickets through them.

Has anyone heard any dates for this in 2017? We are trying to decide if an AP is worth it for next year. Thanks!
I was looking at the same thing! My daughters really want to do this race and I am not sure where exactly to project the race weekend to be... The past few years(15,16) it has seemed to land for the 1st weekend in November, but the previous 3 years (12,13,14) it was the second weekend in November. If I were guessing I would say it will continue on the 1st weekend of November for 2017. My only choice was to make 2 separate reservations since it is open for 2017 now. Sorry this isn't more clear and definitive. Any experts on this subject please chime in. Happy planning.
