Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Wait, do you have the PS2 Boogie or the Wii?

It should work if you have the USB mic.

Ahh! I didn't notice she said she has the PS2 one. If it is USB it should work, but I've only used the ones for the Wii for both.

Can anyone provide any info as to what to do with the expert ghost on Mario Kart?

Also the supply may be meeting the demand more for the Wii console as I've seen a few threads here lately saying they have some at different places and when I was at my costco last week they must've had about 50 bundles of them! It was bundled with Wii Play, and Super Smash or it may have been Mario Galaxy - I really didn't look that closely, but whatever it was it was definitely worth buying! I considered it for a half second then thought, what in the world do I need another one for nevermind where was I going to get the money!:rolleyes1

Hi tyedye! Love the pics in your siggy.

I can't help with MarioKart. I've barely had time to play it. Did you try www.gamefaqs.com ?

Last month the Wii sold more units than the PS3, XBOX 360 and PSP COMBINED!!! Even with the huge release of Grand Theft Auto. But as you noticed, Nintendo is finally producing more units for the states. Turns out they were focusing a lot of their product on Europe and Japan due to the weak US dollar. So while they were producing a million units a month, the US was not getting as many of them as one might expect. But demand in the other countries is slacking off so they are shipping us more.

Phew! Hope everyone is doing well and has pre-ordered Wii Fit. I think the press is going to be all over this one and it will be hard to find.

Not sure if we've looked at gamefaqs.com. I looked somewhere the other day for the kids while they were playing and read them a few things but it didn't help much. Then over the weekend they asked about them again. I don't know if they need to beat them, capture them or what as I haven't played the game once.

I bought my youngest Spongebob Creature from the Krusty Krab or whatever it is from costco for $15. He played and beat the game in a day or so. Oh well he likes SB so much he's still playing to get to every level and every whatever you can. We knew ahead of time the rating was around 5 but for $15 figured it was ok to get.

They also had SSX Blur for $15!

Whoever gets Wii Fit please write your opinions here. I'm not sure about it so will probably not buy it initially. Not sure when I would ever be able to use the Wii anyways as the kids are playing GHIII and waiting ever so patiently for the Aerosmith version and Rock Band!

I'll let DH know you need help. He's played it way more than me, so I'm sure he'll have a better idea.

We're not getting Wii Fit either. It really doesn't appeal to me. I am interested in the Raving Rabbids game that is in devolopment for the fit board though. We just have way too much junk cluttering up our little living room between two guitars, two mics and most of all the stupid drum kit. (We have RB for the 360). Our friend bought a mic stand the other day, so he can sing and play the guitar, so I know we'll end up with one of those eventually. lol oh and a drum throne, cuz a regular chair isn't good enough...lol

The ghost on the time trials is for you to try to beat them at their time. If you can beat the ghosts time you will unlock stuff. Good luck. I've tried a couple times and got no where! It's really hard but I know I will eventually beat them at their own time. I just gotta buckle down and play time trials more. I've been playing online mostly, however I did get gold in every cup for 50, 100 and 150cc. Now Im working on mirror mode. Got gold in 1 cup and silver in 2 cups so far. Mirror mode is HARDDDDD.

Do you where I could buy the mic stand and the drum throne?

I'm not sure if there are "rock band" specific ones or not...

You could try Daddy's Junky Music, for "standard" kinds of both...... They've got both mic stands and drum "thrones".

Mic stand will run you around $20.

Throne will run you around $40.

Edit: They DO have rock band branded "thrones" through the rock band store:

Thanks for answering!....You got to it before I could.

Thanks for the replies.

OK, random guitar hero question here. We've never owned or played guitar hero. DS12 played it at a friends house on PS2 and said it was "pretty fun"...you know, not fabulous but ok. He also said it was hard. I think I'd like to get him one of the guitar hero games for next christmas. I see that GH3 is on sale today....is this something I should jump on now(remember it's for christmas) or will this type of deal come up again over the next several months? Also, would one of the earlier versions of guitar hero be cheaper and just as good since we've never owned any of them?

Input please?

I think you'll see a lot of sales for GH3 between now and Christmas. GH3 is the only one available on the Wii. There are older ones for the PS2, but they are hard to find used. I would wait and watch the GH3 sales for the Wii. That way if he loves it, he'll already have the guitar for future games on the Wii. Also GH Areosmith is coming out at the end of June, so there might be some good sales on GH3 then.

Now that said, GH3 is a lot harder than GH2. So if you could find that for a good price for the PS2, I would go for it.

For those of you who have tried out the Wii Fit....

What kind of accessories do you recommend? I see yoga mats, covers, rechargeable stations, etc.

According to UPS.com mine was just delivered :thumbsup2

We don't own a PS2, only a Wii and a gamecube. He's played the PS2 version at a friend's house.

So, with the new GH coming out in June, this one may come down in price? That'd be great. I'm planning on this for DS12 for Christmas and WiiFit for DD15 for Christmas.....unless there's some other big game release that DS12 will want but I haven't heard about anything big coming out.

I almost replied to this on the other thread. glad you came over here! :)

I think a yoga mat is a good idea, but there is no need to actually buy the one that is marketed for the Wii. Just pick a regular mat up somewhere. If you get the mat, you really don't need any of the other non slip stuff.

I am most interested in the rechargeable station. i've heard that the board really drains batteries quickly, so either the station or regular recharables will be necessary.

I recommend you wait to buy it though. Other brands will come out and someone will have the best. Wait until others buy them to figure out which one to get. You might go through a couple packs of batteries, but at least you won't drop money on a mad charger. If the wiimote chargers are any indication of the quality out there (and I think they are) you are better off waiting.

We don't own a PS2, only a Wii and a gamecube. He's played the PS2 version at a friend's house.

Well then, definitely hold off at least until Areosmith comes out. I would even say wait longer, but I would be afraid that selection would be really scarce near Christmas since I'm sure they'll stop producing product soon after the new one being released.

There are more big games coming before Christmas and Wii Fit will be available widely in a couple of months, so hold off for now.

I would DEF get the cover and rechargable battery. DH and I are picking up our wii fit tonight after he gets off work at game stop (pre-ordered). As for the yoga mat, I would only get it if you plan on using the board on carpet. Reason being is because if you use the board on carpet, it will wear the board out faster. But if you are using it on a hard floor, then theres really no need for the yoga mat unless you really want one. We plan on getting the yoga mat because we do have carpet. We also have plans to pick up We Ski. That should be fun! :thumbsup2

I want to point out that I'm not aware of ANY of these add ons being produced by Nintendo themselves. Anytime you have one company making something for another's product the quality can be questionable. Of course this only pertains to the battery pack. I imagine any company can make a quality cover or mat.

Also as far as the cover goes--I think if you have kids using it a lot then it might be nice, but remember none of these things are required for you to enjoy the system and can always be picked up later if need arises.

This is one of the reasons people think video games are so expensive. They buy a whole bunch of unecessary accessories that drive up the start up price. (A little pet peeve of mine ;))

NYKO is bringing out a rechargeable battery for the mat June 4th. We have NYKO rechargable batteries for our wii motes and it works perfectly fine. As for the mat, it is HIGHLY recommended you have the mat if you are using it on carpet. I would much rather pay the $ for the mat then having my board wear out after only having it for a year, but thats just me.
