April 11, 2008 - The ongoing excitement over Nintendo's groundbreaking Wii system gets a surprise springtime boost with the announcement of a new game. Kicking off its semiannual media summit in San Francisco near the company's new sales and marketing offices in Redwood City, Calif., Nintendo of America today revealed plans for Mario Super Sluggers for Wii, giving baseball fans even more reason to root this season.

"Mario is truly a one-of-a-kind character; clearly fans can't get enough of him and his friends," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "We're giving Wii users brilliant new ways to enjoy him while expanding our series of active-play games."

In the same spirit as other sports-themed Mario games on Wii like Mario Strikers Charged and Mario Kart Wii, Mario Super Sluggers blends richly interactive baseball action with eccentric characters and elements from across the popular Mario universe. Players can swing the wireless Wii Remote™ just like a real bat or wave it toward the plate to deliver a masterful pitch, enjoying the same intuitive, easy-to-learn controls that helped make Wii Sports a living room hit. With Mario and his unpredictable pals filling out the roster, imagination and active-play innovation are sure to dominate the diamond in this lively title, scheduled for release later this year.

I have preordered my Wii Fit. I've also preordered Mario Kart and Rock Band for the Wii, but now I'm wondering if we'll have the room for Rock Band. For those with Rock Band for other systems, how much space do all those instruments take up?

A Lot!
Well the guitar takes up about the same amount of space as the guitar hero guitar. The mic is next to no space use at all...the Drums....That's another story. They are pretty large...

Hopefully both these images help you judge the size of them.


It's worth making room for in my opinion it's a great game that's even more fun multiplayer!

It really looks fun, but I'm worried I'll be able to find a place I can keep the drums safe from my 2 year old. The guitar and mics for other games have been no problem. Those drums may be trouble. Though I really want it!

We have a very small living room and we found space for it. But when you are not playing it, you'll probably want to move the drums to a more secure location. In another room behind a closed door perhaps?

You'll definitely want to keep them away from your 2 yo. They are sturdy, but not that sturdy!

I store mine (and I've got a 5yo, 3 yo and 18 month old) in the garage. Cold hasn't hurt them a bit.

They also fit nicely in our coat closet....but DW was not too keen on that solution. .

And I will reiterate it's worth the trouble to find them a home. It's a great game, something even those who don't normally play video games enjoy. It's a GREAT party game, for example.

My wife is an avid scrapbooker. She has some of her friends over to scrapbook on a regular basis. Those "scrapper" meets have now morphed into "scrapper/Rock Band" meets as, invariably, as the night progresses, the "band" gets together to play some music. We have a blast!

I hope mine arrives on time. My DH asked for this for his birthday. Amazon says it will arrive May 1st, his bday is May 4th. That doesn't leave much time for wiggle room. I ordered an extra wheel, but I never checked how many people can play at once. I may need to get 2 more wheels.

I dont know how im not going to go bakrupt in the coming 2 months, so much stuff coming out that i want,...Mario Kart, then GH: Aerosmith, then Rock Band.....and im sure theyll be something else in there that may come out, luckily i havent gotten the wii fit bug, but i have defientely gottn the PS2 bug and want to buy one as well so we can play the other GH games.....and also the Wii WAre is going to launch and i dohope they have some other GH songs.....geez expensive time of year!

You can't Forget GHS(Guitar Hero for the Nintendo Ds) if you have one..it looks to be awesome!

I honestly don't know with Amazon...I know most stores only require a downpayment...hopefully someone with more amazon experience can answer better. The wife(Harley) says she's pretty sure with Amazon you have to pay all up front.

I had to pay all up front for Mario Kart. I preordered the others from Gamestop since they only take a down payment.

I pre-ordered Aerosmith GH through Amazon in February and have not been charged. I don't think they charge you until the item has shipped.

I also pre-orderd Wii Fit today!

MySims was created for younger gamers. It is much more like Animal Crossing with characters that are under 12 or something.

All the other Sim games you play as adults, so some adult type things happen to you.

I haven't specifically played that version, but I imagine it's why all the other versions (except MySims) are rated T--Your Sims make babies. There is no nudity. In some versions the Sims will get busy on the bed and the game blurs out what is actually happening. That was early Sims though, I think in the new ones you get your sims to kiss and then hearts spring up every where and you suddenly have a baby. Wish that was how it worked!
