Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Is anybody familiar with Guitar Hero cheat codes? My DS has been trying to enter this cheat code & it just won't work. It's the same code on several different sites, so I don't think the code is wrong...it must be something he's doing. Any tips?

Yes but no. Once you get to 60 you do rescue Princess Peach, but you have to play the game again. That's where I am right now. There are 121 stars in all.

You don't have to play again. There are a total of 120 stars that you CAN get, but you don't need all of them to beat the game.

Maybe the code is for a different version of the game? Remember there are 2 older games, plus the codes will be different for the Xbox, PS and Wii versions. Maybe that's the problem? The only other thing is to check and double check.
Sorry I can't help more!

Hi everyone!

DH picked up Karaoke Revolution: American Idol Encore for me yesterday (had to go to 4 stores to find it).

It rocks! The songlist is great and I'm way better at it than DH is.

So for all of you who have gotten hooked on singing with Rock Band or just if you like karaoke, you should consider the game. It's definitely the best singing game on the Wii right now.

We got it for the Xbox cuz you can download more songs. You can't do that with the Wii version right now, but probably sometime in the future.

Hi everyone

Haven't stopped by the thread much lately (been too busy with other things - I haven't even played SMG in over 2 weeks :scared1: )

DS#2 bought a Wii zapper with the Link's Crossbow training. Everyone loves it! The zapper itself is good and the game is alot of fun. Good deal for only $24.99 :thumbsup2

Any new word on Wii Fit?

May something. It's selling REALLY big in Japan.

DH bought a Paper Mario (GameCube game) for our Wii. It keeps saying something about a memory card. :confused3 What is this memory card? Where do we get one? What do you do with it? Thanks, in advance!

You need a gamecube memory card to save a gamecube game's progress. You'll probably need to buy one used at a used game store, but you might be able to find them at regular stores. I haven't looked for one, so I'm not sure. I'm sure there are plenty on ebay.

A memory card is what it sounds like. It's a computer chip that saves game information on it. All systems used memory cards in the past, but now all the systems save to internal memory instead. But the old games must be saved the old way--onto a memory card.

There is a port for the memory card right by the port for the gamecube controllers. There is a detailed picture of this in your Wii operating manual.

Thanks...he went to Wal-Mart earlier this evening and bought one as our "blizzard" started. Took him 25 minutes to make it home from what would normally take about 5 or 10 minutes. The things people do for their games!

I'm so glad it was relatively easy to find! We had our blizzard on Sunday--the day I had to drive into Cleveland to see Wicked. But it was totally worth it! :thumbsup2

I haven't read through this entire thread, so I don't know if this game has come up yet... but my 13 year old daughter just got Elebits and LOVES it. She has been playing non-stop for a week now. Her favorite game used to be Luigi's Mansion, but now her favorite is Elebits
The game play is great and the graphics are amazing. You can pick up and move almost anything in the game to find these little creatures. I have fun just watching her play! LOL! :rotfl: Anyway, I highly recommend Elebits for the Wii! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone! I reviewed Elebits a few pages back, and I wanted to let you know that I just saw it at my local Kmart in the clearance rack for $19.99. It's such a great game - my daughter is still playing it. (I think she's addicted! LOL!)

Has anyone reviewed Dancing with the Stars yet? I got it for Christmas. Here's my review:
Dancing with the Stars: 6 out of 10. This game is similar to the music segment of Raving Rabbids 2 but the characters do not change based on how well you do (like the music in RRR2.) The judging is funny at first, but gets annoying since the phrases don't vary too much. Lyn Goodman looks like an elbino elf and Bruno looks like dracula or a zombie. The stars and dancers also don't really look much like themself. It is fun to unlock new people and new dances, but I'd rather play RRR2. I'm a big Dancing with the Stars fan, so I was hoping this would be great, but it's just okay.

ok well on gamespot.com, article says that activision announced 2 GH games for multiple platforms between 4/1/08 and 6/30/08....this is the most exciting news ive had in a while....lol hehehehe

That's a great price for that game. It's a major sleeper. Many of the experts really liked it.

Sweet!!:rotfl2: I can't believe one would actually be out by April 1st with this late of an announcement, but who knows? :confused3
:thumbsup2

Quote from the article:

Fiscal 2009 will also see the company's "largest Nintendo slate ever," although details were kept under wraps.

Two new Guitar Hero games were confirmed for the period between April 1 and June 30, 2008, although the company was cagey about discussing details. Griffiths said the games would be, "across a broadening platform base, new headline rock bands, new hardware innovations, and deeper international growth."

I really like AI Karaoke Revolution (got it on Friday myself). Target had a bunch of them, so that's a good place to check. They also had Guitar Hero III just sitting there so I finally also got that.

Some things I noticed, though-

You'll want a second USB mic if you don't already own one. The package only comes with one, and if you want to do battle mode or duet mode, you'll need the second one. I should have just caved and bought the second mic.

This could be "just me", but I thought the older GameCube and PS2 Karaoke Revolution games were more difficult. I don't think it makes the game "less fun" but if you were really good at the GameCube KR, you'll be jumping to Medium pretty fast. We're the worst singers alive and we were easily getting perfect scores. You do want to suck a little, because Simon doesn't trash you otherwise.

The songlist is really good, though. Not that gamecube folks have had much to compare to, since there was only one other KR game, but I think the variety is way better. If you have the Xbox, buy that version- there aren't many songs to unlock on the Wii version- most of the "unlockable" content is stuff like videos and outfits.

It's definitely worth it though. :)

I haven't tried any yet, although a friend gave me a list.

Supposedly you have to strum the guitar while you hit the frets, not just hit the buttons. Did you try that?

And finally, because I keep thinking of things-

Am I the only one that is completely lousy at Ratatouille? I got stuck in the stupid tutorial? (Can't quite nail the jump between the posts in the garden to get the apples). It's frustrating that I'm stuck after only playing the game for about 10 minutes.

I finally did it! I saved Princess Peach :cool1: I only have 65 stars so I want to try and get all 120 now.

Woo Hoo! I've never actually finished a Mario game/saved Peach before so I'm really proud of myself with this one!!!

i just have to tell everyone i finally got a wii on Sunday. Here's the story my dd and i went marathon shopping on Saturday. the last store wee stop at was toys r us and i ask if they have a wii knowing the answer is no so when the girl behind the counter said no to my surprise she said "check in the morning there is supposed to be a sale on video games soon". as i'm leaving a manager asked if i found everything OK i said no i want a wii but i know no one has them. Then he proceeds to tell me check in the morning the truck is coming in late tonight!!!!!!!! i say I'll be here at 5:30 am. So i get up at 5 and check Sunday savers for the ads and lo and behold toysrus had an ad and in it was a WII!!!!!!! leave the house and get there at 6:30 am for a 10:00 opening...... I also got The guitar heroes 3 bundle... a wireless guitar game and a wii mote all for only 69.99. YEAY me... I just had to share cuz i'm sooooo excited. Anyway i can't give any reviews because the wii is for Christmas or other occasion if i can't wait that long. which leads to my question. IS the wii getting a upgrade to be able to play blu ray discs????? Some guy told me that when i was in line and i figure if its true I'll try to get that version and sell the "old" one.

Hi Vern! We got our Wii Sunday at TRU also! I have tried since about October but didn't want to pay more than retail and didn't want to wait in line in the middle of the night. I figured - when it's right - it will happen. My parents have wanted one also. Every Sunday morning DH, DS and I go to church and then to breakfast. We always read the sale circulars at breakfast and if we see a Wii advertised, we head there when we're done eating. Mostly, it has been Circuit City and they NEVER have them by the time we get there. This week it was TRU. We headed there and DH and DS pooh poohed that it was already 10:45 and the store opened at 10 am and as usual they wouldn't have one blah, blah, blah.

I insisted that it was on our way home and to stop so I could run in and ask. Several people around the game section had Wiis in bags and there were none on the shelf so I figured they were gone. No one was checking out so I just asked for the heck of it and the cashier said that they had ONE left! I said, "Not anymore cuz it's mine now!" He told the other cashiers that he was selling the last Wii!

You should have seen the look on DH and DS's faces when I came out of the store! We hooked it up right away and have been playing it nonstop since DS and I have had snow days yesterday and today!!!

So, my parents were a little disappointed that I didn't get them one but I explained that it was the last one and they understood. Today, I got a WiiAlerts call while I was home for the snow day and Amazon had them in stock! I was on the site and had one purchased for my parents within 3 minutes of the alert! Now they're excited to be getting one too!

So, after almost 5 months of hunting, I scored TWO in THREE days!!! Now, I get to read this whole thread and find out all the details that I need to know as a new Wii owner!

Congrats to you too, Vern. And if anyone is still hunting - keep trying! They're out there!!!
