Will I need to buy a special adapter or anything to attach it to my tv or will the same type used for the Gamecube work?

The system comes with it's cable. You can buy a special component cable that makes the graphics sharper, but you only want to do that if your TV supports component cables (blue/green/red/yellow inserts) and it isn't strictly necessary.

There's no adapter that you would need.

No way! Not silly at all! Systems used to come like that...with stuff missing. I understand!

I highly recommend that everyone that can, set up your Wii after the kids go to bed on Christmas eve. Getting the controllers to sync can be tricky and the worst thing is getting stuck when the kids are waiting to play!

Logitech makes one I saw it at Best Buy today cause I'm in the same boat as you but wasn't sure if it was the right one cause it had a USB connector on it and I'm not sure how our Wii works yet cause ours kids haven't gotten it yet.

I have a question about component cables. Is there a BIG difference between the MONSTER one or the Wii one or the ones you can get on E bay for cheap? I understand that it comes w/ the cables but would like to get as high def as possible. Thanks.

For those looking for just a Wii Console, I recommend signing up for one of the many notification sites. I have only been looking for a Wii for about 2 weeks and I got an email this morning that Best Buy had them online and I scored one! Maybe I just got lucky but that worked for us.

What notification sites? I came up with nothing today at TRU and Best Buy. TRU had some, which went immediately. I was first in line at Best Buy, but they didn't get a shipment. I have a best buy account, don't see where to sign up for notifications though. Help!

I can't remember which ones I signed up for. I think I did four different ones. Go to Yahoo and type in Wii Email Alerts. From there, check out each site to see which ones offer email alerts.

The morning that Best Buy got the Wii in, I received two email notifications within minutes of each other. I received another notice about an hour later and they were already sold out.

The only difference is you get to swing the wii-mote like a lightsaber. The new game is essentially the other two games together. I would suggest you take it back and get something else. (BTW that's the game I wanted that my store was out of )

I would get him Zelda or Paper Mario. Or you could get something like Rayman Raving Rabbids, which is something that he can play for short bursts. All the other games (except Wii Play) you kinda have to play for at least an hour to get anything done.

Hmm....considering that he is constantly swinging his light saber around practicing the moves from Jedi Training Academy, I think he'd really enjoy this. I'll have to give this some thought.

Are the logitech usb mircrophones for the playstation the same as the ones for the wii? I noticed that the ones for the playstation are about half the price. I didn't know if there was a difference that I wasn't aware of. I so don't like all of this technical stuff!!

OK so any opinions on the puppy luv or the petz dogz? which would be better? have to exchange one bought duplicate.

also someone talked me into the mario vs. sonic olympic game during the sale [practically nothing left at 5 min after opening....grrrr....some nice sales lady was getting games for all the people in line for the console!@] but it's received bad reviews...thinking of exchanging it next week [after the big B2G1 sale dies off] for Mario Party 8 or maybe even Galaxy but my kids are 9,7,5.
or skip mario and get madden for dh and son?

opinions wanted also on dance dance revolution and my sims and mater nacional.

The girls are 9,7 and boy 5.

my dad bought guitar hero but i told him to return...lyrics and especially cage dancers makes it not appropriate for us. bummer.

so excited about the ocean one coming out in January...that' going to be for me! and wii fitness....will i ever get my housework done? lol..

I know DH already answered this, but I have to say that I would HIGHLY recommend Mario galaxy over Zack & Wiki for ANY kid! Zack is just too hard and frustrating, whereas Mario is just plain fun. It's not about the old Mario games are being a Mario fan, it's just a great game.

Oh dear, when I checked back here on Sat, there were no responses, so I went and ordered the Zack & Wiki. When in doubt I always go for the cheaper one! But, this time that backfired on me; with the recent posts, I think he would have preferred Mario Galaxy.

Oh well, he claims some of the games are just too easy and he can blow threw them too fast, so maybe the Zack will keep him occupied for a while. Either way, that's what he's getting. Maybe I'll get MIL to get him the Mario Galaxy. thx for the input.

Microphone= I really have no idea how it works, but USB does not sound right to me. The packaging should indicate whether it works with the Wii. And I would also ask an employee.

I have the Nintendo one and I prefer Nintendo products (they are less likely to be sucky). I'm sure there are reviews on some websites for the knock off ones. I would find the name of a cheap one and then google "product name reviews" and you should find some stuff. I was a little bummed when I saw all the super cheap ones on ebay, but I WAY more trust nintendo than Carls House of Electronics.

I highly doubt it. I've never seen a product work for two different systems before. You need to look for the information on the packaging and see if it specifically says that it works with the Wii.

Petz vs Luv= I have no idea. I suggest you look at http://wii.ign.com for reviews. I think they are VERY similar, but I really have no idea.

I would try to get Mario Party 8 if you want a game they can all play together. Everyone will like Galaxy. Even the 5 yo might be able to play it with some help. (it's definitely the best game of the bunch). There's always another Madden, so maybe hold off on that til next year.

I think DDR would be great for your family. My Sims is really fun too, but DDR is more active. I haven't read anything about Mater.

I suggest:
1. Mario Party 8
2. Mario Galaxy
3. DDR
4. My Sims

Both games are great and he definitely won't complain about Zack being too easy! No worries! It's not like you got him a terrible game.

Regarding Wiimote chargers...

Which one should I get and from where? TRU had only one type available yesterday when I placed my order, and the reviews were terrible, so I didn't get it. We can always get it later but I want to know what to tell DH to look out for when he is out browsing for my presents .

I have the Nyko charger. I've seen them mainly at GameStop. Seems like everyone is selling another one that people just hate. But i really like our Nyko. It is available on Amazon as well.

Totally OT:

A quick hijack of the thread....
actually it benefits the big 10...without us even playign we can easily move up! we have no chance of loseing a game while all the other teams infront of us have 2 opportunities to lose...we have no way to top in the standings ..yet ways to gain.

While that is true, if the Big Ten were to play a 2 game conference playoff, the team to win this would move up, while at the same time if a higher ranked team lost, they would move down. So that could go either way, but almost every other conference does this so why not the Big Ten? They finally added a tournament to basketball.

The other thing would be to have a bye week or 2 during the season so that at least they'd be still playing football after Thanksgiving. Having to wait 50 or 51 days whatever it was to play in a national championship game was way too long. I read an article about this a week or so ago and it said it was like playing the first game in a new season. IMO the entire bowl season is too long anyways.

So The OSU wins again, TSUN loses and Carr does resign, now we wait until Dec. 2nd.

Went to TRU yesterday morning and the line was to the back of the store. I thought it was for the Wii sale which it was but it was for the console not the games. They were out of soo many games that I wanted to get. I am thinking of going back before Wed and exchanging one game. In order to do that the rep said I need to bring all games back unopened with my receipt to do the exchange. A buy 2 get 1 free is a great deal for Wii games.

That's the problem. All the people buying the console got to buy up all the games too. I hear that some Circuit City's are doing price matches + 10% off, but I think most of them will say that TRU has to be in stock with the items. Also there have been reports of TRUs not allowing people to exchange games. I just can't believe they did the sale again. They're nuts!

So now I have WAY too many games to play!

I really love Paper Mario. I would go with that over Zack & Wiki, but I think Galaxy is better than both of them.

TRU was out of Super Mario Galaxy of course. I went to Costco for some other things on my way home. I almost always look at the games here to see what they have (they are hit or miss) and no SMG here either. But while standing there I looked down at the bottom shelf where all the boxes were and there were boxes that said Mario Galaxy on them. I opened one up and the games were all ready for the shelf with price etc so I did get that one after all. And because I used my DS's bday gift card at TRU I told him as long as it's a game that both kids will play I'll give them one this weekend. That way it'll keep them busy and occupied and maybe they'll stop asking for stuff over the next month.
