Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Looks like "Wii" are all in Ohio - sorry for the pun, couldn't resist!

We are north of cincy outside of 275.

We haven't had rain all summer--only 2 days since July!

My husband always tells me to pick games that don't have a "finish" like a story line, so to speak--he likes things like Mario Kart, and that's why I think HSM Sing It will be good.

LOL:rotfl2: Do you know anything about the Spiderman game or the Fab 4 (not sure if that is what it is called).?

Halo is about an alien race taking over the world and the battle that commences to save it. It's bloody and violent. I think in this part you only are killing aliens, but I could be wrong.

Most players couldn't care less about that part of the game. Most Halo players play in a on-line battle mode where they stalk their friends(other humans:thumbsup2) around a field and see how many times they can kill them. :scared: It's really violent.

Well, I wouldn't put it like that :rotfl:

The shocking thing is that Halo 3 is one of the least violent M rated games around

On a different note, I heard Smash Bros. is getting delayed till 2008! :sad1:

Hmm, I dunno. I think singing those same songs might get boring after a while. I was wondering if there is another American Idol type game for Wii, with more song choices. Does anyone know?

No there isn't one.

Re: Halo 3 - my DS(11) played the entire game in 7 hours - it's not that bad, at least I didn't think it was that bad - I watched him playing it one night and I kept asking why is it rated M - DS and DH just said blood.

Fantastic 4? :teeth: Haven't heard anything about that one but the Spiderman game is TERRIBLE. Stay away!

There definitely more violent M rated games for sure, but I stand by what I said. I may have been extreme with the wording, but it's no less true. :thumbsup2 I honestly think the single player mode is fine. And hey I was a Doom and Goldeneye girl back in the day, so stalking your friends to shoot them is good times for me. :thumbsup2

And yes, brawl was delayed again. :( Thanks for bringing that up. I know a lot of people were planning on it for Christmas.

No there isn't one.

It's the blood and the fact that you are shooting things to death in first person mode. Though there's a big difference between that and what you do in GTA, for example. (GTA is way worse)

Like I've said the single player mode isn't that big of a deal. You kill aliens. Go team! :teeth: It's the battle mode where you shoot your friends that really can be a turn off for parents. And like I said, I'm sort of a fan of those type of games, so I'm not condeming anything. The new ones with the fancy graphics give me motion sickness, but I know how fun it is to take on your friends.

UMMM.....
Really really really NOT SURE where both you and my DW are getting your info...but SMASH BROS HAS NOT been delayed!
US: December 3, 2007
Japan: January 24, 2008
Europe: TBA 2008

I quote from a recent article!

"The bad news from Nintendo's Japanese press conference today is that the Japanese release of Smash Bros. Brawl has been delayed to January 24, 2008."

THIS IS IN JAPAN ONLY!!! Wii are still set to get in in december!

In more smash news...just announced...
Sonic Crashes Smash Bros. Brawl

super-smash-bros-brawl-20071010021007492-000.jpg

October 10, 2007 - It's the announcement we've all been waiting for, and now that it's here we can hardly believe we're actually seeing it: Sonic has arrived.

Nintendo fans have dreamt of pairing the Sonic the Hedgehog against Mario in Smash Bros. long before Brawl was even announced, as petitions and pleas swept across the net during the development of Super Smash Bros. Melee on Nintendo GameCube. Now, years later, Nintendo and SEGA have teamed up to deliver the match of all matches, as Smash Bros. Brawl has a new challenger, and he looks to be ready for the competition.
Though information on Sonic's Brawl repertoire is currently thin, the video below sheds at least a bit of light on how the Blue Blur will be battling this fall. Aside from the basic punch/kick combos given to every fighter, Sonic also makes use of his speed dash. Reminiscent of classic 2D gameplay, Sonic can spin in place, build up power, and then unleash it on a row of foes, blasting them in all directions.

In another instance you can see Sonic using that same speed boost to deliver a pop-up attack on Mario, which then leads to a mid-air barrage that ends in a powerful slam attack. Since speed is of course going to be the deciding factor for Sonic players, you'll want to combine distance dashing and quick, multi-hit combos at key moments, sitting back until just the right moment, and then striking one (or multiple) fighters with a burst of power.

As a final note, Sonic can be seen powering up to Super Sonic at the end of the video, shedding a bit of light as to what his more powerful offense could consist of. As a few other tidbits, Sonic makes use of the classic jump springs during the video, suggesting a Sonic-themed level and/or side-scrolling mode for SEGA's top player. Oh, and we wouldn't be surprised to see Tails make an appearance as well. Hey… if Mario has his posse, why should Sonic fight alone? This could mean big things for Brawl's future.

Found something we missed in the video? Have a hunch as to more Sonic secrets in Brawl? Chat about it in our talkback forums below, and don't forget to check out the other Sonic screens in our image gallery too

Nintendo's press briefing in Japan today, the company finally announced a new Wii channel that will allow gamers to download demos for their DS. 8)Wii Get Fit in December
If we live in Japan.
http://wii.ign.com/articles/826/826132p1.html
The bad news from Nintendo's Japanese press conference today is that the Japanese release of Smash Bros. Brawl has been delayed to January 24, 2008.(THIS IS IN JAPAN ONLY!!!) Wii are still set to get in in december!

So what will Japanese Wii owners do over the holiday break? How about some training to make up for all those upcoming months and months of sitting in front of the TV playing the latest Nintendo brawler?

In place of Smash Bros., Nintendo Japan has announced that Wii Fit will arrive to the Japanese market on 12/1. The title will carry a price of 8,800 yen -- a bit hefty, likely due to the included fitness pad.

Wii Fit is not due for American release until 2008. Hopefully that means we'll get Smash Bros. first.

9)Another new Wii channel!
Mii Contest Channel is a channel for showing off your Miis to other players. This channel will include a plaza where you can take home the Miis that other players have created, and a contest mode where everyone judges your Mii

10) Wii Vote getting updated!
Nintendo is also beefing up other areas of the Wii's networking service. The Wii Vote channel will be updated in the future. Players will be able to rank games and make use of search features to find games that suit them.

How's that for some MAJOR Wii news!!!

You are WRONG!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

From the SBB FAQ on IGN:
Unfortunately, it appears some bad news has come along with the good. The release date for Brawl in Japan was pushed back to January 24, and while no delayed date was announced for North America, the SmashBros.com main page has taken away the December 3rd, 2007 graphic and replaced it with "Release Date: TBD". We're hoping that Brawl won't get delayed past the holidays here in the States, but we don't know for sure just yet – so let's just focus on today's positive news for now.

When was the last time they delayed something for Japan and not the US? Anyway, there was no official announcement, but it seems inevitable.

I encourage you all to visit www.ign.com They have a ton of new info...most of which DH has posted, but you might see something interesting for your family.

Hmm, I dunno. I think singing those same songs might get boring after a while. I was wondering if there is another American Idol type game for Wii, with more song choices. Does anyone know?

Well, that could be true--however, for my 4 and 6 yo dd's, singing the same songs over and over NEVER does get old--at least not yet. I figure by the time they're done with that game we will have definitely gotten our money's worth.

My Mii is going to be SOOOOOOOOOOOO cute in that white coat! Wanna play, harleyquinn? (is that possible?)

Not to pick sides (because it *is* fun to read the banter between you two) but I hope Horned King is right and Brawl will be here in time for Christmas!

Someone mentioned being able to check their email thru their Wii. How is that possible? We have wireless in the house and can go to Forecast, News, etc... but I haven't found anything that would allow me to check my email!

BTW, I am in St Louis - not everyone is in Ohio! ;)

Sure! We should be able to trade friend codes (I think it's our wii's serial number) and then we can play together! Yay!

I hope DH is right too (just this once). There is still no official word.

You have to download the Wii Browser to look at the internet. It was free for a long time after the system launch, but now you have to pay for it. I think it's 500 points. You download it through the virtual console. It's awesome for watching youtube videos on your tv! :teeth:

Happy Feet and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy for Wii *$11.77* (Frys.com) + shipping. I've heard that neither one is a great game but that is a FABULOUS PRICE. I'm considering Bill and Mandy for DS11.

Happy Feet

Billy and Mandy

I apologize if this question has been asked somewhere during the previous 51 pages, but does anyone have the wii dance dance revolution (I'm not 100% sure of the name). I put my name on the list at game stop for this and have not heard from them, but before I call I want to hear from anyone else if it's any good or not. I have three girls, 14, 6, and 4.

I can't wait to bring it on! I love Dr. Mario!

I think the free Wii browser download was available before we owned our Wii. Bummer. I should have purchased those Wii Points cards when they were on sale at Toys R Us. Next time!:thumbsup2

Smash Release Date Confirmed
Nintendo sets a US release date for Brawl's 2008 launch.
by Bozon

October 11, 2007 - After Nintendo's Japan announcement of the delay of Smash Bros. Brawl, American gamers instantly began speculating the meaning of that announcement for the US release of Nintendo's battler. Just moments ago at Nintendo's media summit in San Francisco, CA, vice president of marketing and corporate communications George Harrison has confirmed that the game will be getting a delay in the US as well, hitting stores on Sunday, February 10 of 2008.

ign story here

My son found this this morning. He was literally crying. He's been so looking forward to this game and he's very disappointed!

When I went to the site, the price for Billy and Mandy was $19.99.:confused3
You're right, it is now $19.99, yesterday it was showing $11.77 and with shipping it came to $16.75 or so. I was still debating whether to purchase or not but I guess they made my decision for me.....not purchasing.

I guess you had to grab it quickly! Sorry guys.

Ok, thanks! I'm passing as well.

We have it. DD8.5 loves it. I still haven't figured out how to turn off the hand controls, but we work around it :)

I got mine from Amazon when it was released. Is it already getting hard to find?
