Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

DS got a Wii for Christmas and the whole family is loving it. We have two wii remotes and two nunchucks. After playing a two person game and before starting a one person game DS will always take the batteries out of the second remote instead of simply turning if off. If he pushes the power button on the second remote it turns off the whole Wii. I think there has to be a better way to do this. What is it? Does any of this make sense?

Yes, you make sense. The power buttons on the wiimotes are for the whole systems, not just the wiimotes. The Wiimotes automatically turn themselves off after inactivity, so there is no reason to continually take the batteries out.

Well after playing Lego Star Wars for days now my youngest is playing SMG all the time. He really likes this game!

Just Popping in to say..I BEAT MARIO GALAXY!!!(had to beat it with 98 stars the max you can have...) now I have to go get the other 22 purple comet stars to unlock the secret( which I don't want to say since I don't want to spoil it for all of you if you try for 120 stars)

Congrats! I do have some bad news for you though. You should be at 105 stars after beating Bowser for the last time. Then you go back and have 15 more purple comet stars to get. You are missing 6 or 7 stars depending on if you now have 98 after beating bowser or 99. Hubby and I just beat bowser this weekend. Now this weekend will be getting those last 15 stars!!! LOL!!!!!

If anyone gets the early Sunday paper with the adds in it, could you please look at the adds and tell me if any of the stores have the Wii in them & which ones do? That way I know ahead of time, so I can plan on what time to get the store so I can get one! Thanks soooooooo much in advance!

O i finally got to jam with my friend on guitar hero doing battle mode and face off, its pretty kool, the batlle is just like the ones you do within the game, only you get to do it to each other, its was a alot of fun actually, much better than the game by yourself and you can also pick what level each person wants to be at...kinda kool

On Madden NFL 08, my son won't play this, although in his defense he hasn't much time since his brother has been playing SMG non stop, but he says it's too hard. So is it just a matter of practicing the plays with the remotes to get the hang of it? Maybe we'll try that family play thing first.

Ummm...I think this is a DH question. I never mess around with the Miis. I don't think you can though...the parade is a random selection og the miis that you have made or people have sent to you. I think...I'll DH to come help.

I think Madden is too hard, but that's mostly cuz I hate playing it cuz DH always beats me.

Here's 2 big things, get him to do the practice drills. They are the best tutorial for any game I've ever seen. Have him do those a lot before he just tries to play a striaght game...and two try playing on family mode (or what I like to call "dumb wife mode"). It's a much simpler version for wives and younger children.

Madden is an aquired taste...Has he played the old games? I think it can be overwhelming to try and learn all the new wiimote movements on top of having to pick plays and understand so much about football.

If it's too hard...then have him switch to family mode(or dumb wife mode as my DW said) It get's rid of the nunchuck and you play with simply the wiimote.

As as the Dw said the tutorials and minigames are a great way to learn the movements.

Prod him more as to what is too hard...is it that he doesn't know football plays?? Is it the movements, does he have the difficulty level set too high?

I may be able to help more if I knew exactly what he was finding hard.

As far as i know you can not. The mii's on mii parade are mii's that belong to your friends(the ones you set to travel durring creation)...they can also belong to friends driends, but they are not your Mii's. You can bring mii's from the parade into your plaza, but not the other way around.( As far as I know)

Just thought I'd pass on the info that Super Mario Galaxy won game of the year in IGN's yearly awards for videogames(this is across all systems...not just the wii)

Not only did the editors at IGN choose Mario galaxy for the game of the year...the readers of IGN also chose it!

Talk about a unanamous decision and a game that is simply a cut above the rest!
