Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

My boys, ages 8 and 6 received Wii glo-swords for a gift. They are non-returnable because they were ordered in October. Any idea what games use glo-swords?

Thanks for any help.

My mini reviews based on 9 and 6 year old girls.

Wii - My 9 and 6 year old love Mario Party 8 and Raymond Rabbids 2. The Hannah Montana game is OK but we can't find the place to play 2 player so 6 year old doesn't like it (9 yr old hogs the remote). They played Boom Blox for a little bit and said they liked it but went right back to Mario Party. They played Shrek 3 for about 20 minutes but the 6 year old got killed so 9 year old got frustrated. DH is frustrated with Tiger Woods 09 golf.

DS - 9 year old loves Magical Starsign. 6 year old has had fun playing wifi with 9 yr old (they each got the game). Not sure if she has tried playing by herself yet, might be a bit hard for her.

Oh! How can I forget the Wii Fit? We all like it! I have enjoyed the yoga (didn't see that coming!) and the balance games. 6 year old likes the running, 9 year old likes all the balance games.

I think it's for the Wii Star Wars Clone Wars Light Saber Duels game. Looks like fun. Santa brought DS8 the game, but no light saber. I think he would have more fun playing with it if he got the glow swords.

Rock Band 2 - We got this set up and the bass pedal on the drums does not work. This was very disappointing, since we ordered from Amazon and may have to send whole thing back to them (40lbs worth). We are waiting now to see if the manufacturer gets a replacement part in. The vocals on this game are good, except I have a hard time reading them (they are very small). Guitar is tough to do, maybe its just us, but DD10 and I kept failing even on easy setting, so changed it so we would not fail. So far I'm not really very happy with it, but maybe that will change if everything is working and we get used to it.

We got lots of other games but so far kids have mostly played Wii Sports.

Thanks for all the reviews everyone!

I'll add them to the review post when I get a chance!

My kids got a Wii for Christmas.
They got Wii play and it came with a controller. But the controller will not turn on. I have tried new batteries, the batteries it came with and it won't turn on.

This happened to me, but I discovered it had to be synched with the Wii. Check your Wii manual for instructions. Its pretty much just pushing the red sync button on the remote, then the red sync button by the SD card port on the Wii console. The lights on the remote should stop flashing and you should get a steady light for remote #2. HTH.:)

We had this same problem too. If you don't sync it, you can also add it everytime at the start of a game. It is much easier to sync it if it is a remote you are going to use with your system alot. It is excatly the way the PP stated.

I am LOVING my Outdoor adventure!

I am sore from 2 days of playing. LOVE that it is simple enough for even my 3YO to play and challenging enough for DH and I to play together!

It even inspired me to break out my wii fit once again.

Who knew mine cart racing was so tiring?!?! LOL

DS13 seemed to like line rider but only played it for a few minutes before we left for grandmas and hasn't revisited it again.
Thought I'd add to this that DS13 us absolutely addicted to line rider. He loves it but says it's hard to do. Says it's better than the computer version.

Thanks I will try this.

Thanks for this thread! the kiddos got one for Christmas too! Santa brought them Play & a couple others that I know nothing about & were thinking of returning.... Wonder World, Game Party, Candy Factory & Cooking Mama.

None of these look that exciting for elementary age kids. We really want FIT - so we wanna use the returns to go toward the Fit.

Do you think that's a good idea? or is there a game that I really shouldn't return 'cause it's just great?

Out of the games you listed, the only one I would possibly consider keeping is Cooking Mama. That said, I would totally take them all back for Wii Fit.:thumbsup2

Hello!!! I have a question for the owners of "The Price is Right".

In multiplayer mode it appears that you use only 1 controller?

Is there a feature to change that? I have looked and don't see it, but I have to ask. 4 people using the same controller is really dumb.

Please say that it is just user error and not the case.;)

okay - heresn't another question -

is there a place to go where we can see all the games?

I've seen wii.com & the few games on there (loved watching the FIT there) but I'd love to see some of the others...

Thanks - the kids have enough $ from Christmas to get the FIT - we just have to wait til Walmart gets them in!

If you think the COoking MAma is good we may just hang on to it then -

Gee all the questions sure are popping into my mind (the kids are playing Wii now - so it's nice I can be online in peace! LOL)

Anyone try the new weight loss ones? I saw there were at least 2 out there - I know Jillian's & some other one I saw (can't remember - it had ya running on logs) how are they? DO they keep your attention?

I REALLY need to use something to lose weight - my instructor last smemester said he lost 16 pounds using the FIT in a couple of months of using it daily.

"heresn't?" :lmao:

Go to www.wii.ign.com and there's a "game profiles" link in the bar across the top of the page. It lists every game. You can search by genre or look by release date--just click on a title for more info, including reviews and videos. And remember to read the first post here and I think the third? it has game reviews that will give you a place to start.
