If upgrade offered from Port Orleans

I’ll be booking at Port Orleans. If an upgrade is offered (paid or complimentary), where is the most likely place they would offer? Has anyone gotten an upgrade offer from port Orleans to another resort?

Also if traveling with a group (we’ll have 3 studios) would they let all upgrade to the same hotel so we stayed together?

Is everyone on the same reservation or is it three reservations? The likelihood of being moved together is greater if everyone is on one reservation.

Reading the refurbishment note for POR, I would not expect that they will need to move people around. I haven’t seen any posts mentioning being moved (but I haven’t read every post on the DIS). With the separate buildings it is easier to isolate the renovation to one or two buildings at a time, and they will adjust the available inventory so they shouldn’t overbook. If there is availability at POFQ they would probably move there first, and then perhaps to CSR or CBR. But I would plan on not being moved unless there are suddenly a lot of reports that this is happening.

Thanks. I am actually curious what moderate might be considered an upgrade to Port Orleans… What is considered the best moderate? We have a DVC but are short points for a family stay so I was looking at cash options. Or if (for instance) there were a lot of people saying they upgraded to a specific Deluxe a lot (I understand at a cost, but was thinking it might be less than outright booking thru WDW), where that would be. Hope that makes sense.

I’d just book it if you can. The refurbs aren’t that intrusive…

There are no studios at PO. The only upgrades I’ve read about lately have been just to the public discount at another resort, nothing due to construction, inventory, etc. Disney has gotten a lot better at planning & announcing resort renovations, so seem to have less need to move guests around.

To your other question… all moderates are considered equal. The only possible exception might be club level at Coronado. I’ve never read any reports report of anyone being offered a complimentary move to there.

As for “the best”, like any other resort category, everyone has their own opinions & favorites. You’ll get every resort named as best, depending on who’s answering.

We received an upgrade from Coronado Springs to GF. But it was during the pandemic and we only had a two-night stay. I would not count on an upgrade from POR to a different resort. POR is huge and has plenty of rooms.

In the rare situation that you might need to be moved -- a lateral (moderate-to-moderate) is the most likely possibility.

I'm not following your logic here. Book a resort based on where you'd like to stay and within your budget. Do not expect a free upgrade, do not expect an offer for a discounted upgrade. Can it happen? Yes. But highly unlikely. Watch the special offers for discounts.

I know of someone that was offered a move to either Caribbean Beach or Coronado from POR recently. Nothing against either of those resorts, but I would personally prefer POR.

I recall a thread on here a few months ago where people were indicating that Disney was offering them a PAID upgrade when doing their booking. Sounded more like a marketing effort to get people to pay more for their room then they originally planned. Doubt you could draw any conclusions based on which resorts were doing that since everyone going to Disney doesn't post on this site.

I agree you should reserve the room based on your budget and preferences. Moving people for free when there is some unexpected maintenance issue isn't anything you can plan on.

Theoretically CSR guests might get a move offer if a convention booking needs to increase their block of rooms.

Likewise occassionally a group bookng at All Stars could result in move offer.
