Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Which one is best - Guitar Hero World Tour or Rockband 2? If you already have Guitar Hero if you get World Tour can you use two guitars at the same time?

To answer your question...yes you could use 2 guitars with GH:Wt.

As for which is best it's personal preference. I think Rb is by far a superior product (although the actual GH guitar is much better) Form the song selection to the fact that even if one person in your band fails you can save them within about 30 seconds and keep playing where as in GH if someone fails it's game over.

Like I said it's all personal preference...((Rockband seems to be slightly easier also))

EA Harmonix/MTV Games(AKA ROCKBAND) Just struck a HUGE blow to the Guitar Hero franchise...

While it had been rumored that Gh was trying to get the Beatles to finally sign over the rights to do a game Rockband swooped in and beat them to the punch! There is no word yet on if it will be downloadable songs or a seperate game...but at this point Harmonix is saying they want to make it a Huge deal(so a solo game looks more likely)

Early rumor says they be trying to figure a way to allow multiple singers.

And as one article I read said they are curious to see how Harmonix will handle the later Beatles work where Piano,Keyboard, and Orchestral tracks became a norm....could we see a new instrument (the KEYBOARD GUITAR!!! I JOKE!!! BUT IT WOULD ROCK!!!)

Newbie here. We bought Wii sports (no bundle) for a family member's Christmas present. My question is, with what we have now, can two people play any of the games in Wii sports or do we need to buy extra controls/numchucks, etc to do that?

thanks!

Hey guys....

Just want to make sure I'll need AA batteries for Wiimotes Christmas morning. I'm headed to CVS to buy some batteries and wanted to make sure I had enough of the "right" size so there were no sad faces on Christmas! :goodvibes

I'm also debating sending DH on an impossible gift hunt one night this week and trying to set up the Wii myself and re-wrap it for Christmas...haven't decided on that one yet though.

Thanks!

Yes 2 people can play wii sports together, and yes you need 2 wii motes and 2 nunchucks.

Thank you! Eventully we'll do the rechargable ones but for now we're just going to pull ones out of the cupboard for Christmas morning!

Thanks again!

  • Two, three or even four people can play golf or bowling at the same time sharing one Wii-mote.
  • For two people to play baseball you at the same time, one pitching & one hitting, you will need two Wii-motes.
  • For two people to play boxing at the same time you will two Wii-motes AND two numchucks.
  • For more than one person to play tennis you will need as many Wii-motes as you have players, up to four.
You can have a good time playing with friends and family with one Wii-mote. That being said, I think two is an ideal minimum for Wii-motes so that you can play almost all of the games in a multi-player format.

Everytime you get a cool new game they will start hurting, so never!!!

The DS and the DS Lite are the same gaming platform, the Lite is the second generation and the only one available to purchase new at your local store. They Lite is a little more sleek looking, but in my opinion the older DS version is a little sturdier in my kids destructo hands.:rolleyes1

Thank you all so much for your help! We were up and running with the Wii in no time yesterday! DS4's kicked DH's butt repeatedly at bowling and baseball so it's really something we can all do together! DS2 tried but doesn't move the Wiimote quick enough to do too much...it'll come with time! Right now he just enjoys watching what everyone else is doing. :goodvibes

Thanks again everyone for all of the help!!!

HELP! The console is frozen.

When we ejected a game disc it said there was an error and to eject the disc (already had) and turn the power off. The power will not turn off. I have tried everything, unplugging and replugging, turning the TV on and off, nothing will work. I also tried the reset button.

Any ideas? If not, who do I call for technical help?

TIA!:goodvibes

Hummmm..
1) did you eject the disc while you were on the game screen (AKA not going back to the Channels Home screen) if so that could be the reason.

I know if you unplug you should leave it unplugged for a few minutes then replug it that "should" reset it.

if still nothing can you reinsert the game you had ejected?

Best thing to do is find NINTENDO'S 1-800 number in the wii's manual they can walk you through a few options for sure.

Sorry I can't be more help, but i don't want to tell you anything that could hurt your wii if you don't know exactly what your doing.

Thanks! I am a little leary myself about messing with it too much. Don't want to break the kids present on day 2. I will try to unplug it for a longer period of time.

My DD pulled out the disc so I am not sure if she was on the home screen or not. I have tried putting in the original disc but no go.

Might need to call Nintendo...

Appreciate your help! :goodvibes

So DD16 got Wii Fit and DS13 got line rider, Animal Crossing, Wii Speak and GH3Legends of Rock.

Well, the whole entire family is loving the WiiFit! We've all been trying all the exercises and games out and having a great time. DD16 thinks all the things are too easy, yet we're beating some of her scores so she isn't in that much better shape than us. Some of those strengthening and yoga exercises are soooo hard. I watch other people doing them and think they're easy and then when I try I find out how hard it is. I can't even do the push ups...not even one bit. But I'm pretty good at a few things so I guess it all evens out. All in all, a great family game as we can all try it and you never know which one of us is gonna kick the others butts!

DS13 seemed to like line rider but only played it for a few minutes before we left for grandmas and hasn't revisited it again.

Animal crossing and wiispeak is a huge hit with DH and DS. DH is disappointed that it's not too different from the other animal crossings but does like the city, and getting a makeover to wear your mii. He also likes being able to visit other towns and using the wiispeak. We sent wiispeak messages to people that don't have wiispeak and they can still of course hear us all talking in the message, they were pretty impressed. This game is great but basically the same as the other animal crossings so depending on whether you liked them or not, that will determine whether you like this one. DS is playing right now and chatting in thru wiispeak with his friend.

GH is a hit as well. I'm not sure who likes it more, DD or DS. We technically got it for DS but it seems to be a game with teen appeal so she's pretty happy he got it too. I don't know the ins and outs of the game other than the fact that they both like it.

DS13 also got a gamefly membership and his first game was DaBlob which he's been playing too. I dont' know much about it other than the fact that he has to paint things and he likes it.

So bottom line, so far so good, all the wii games appear to be winners this holiday with WiiFit being the biggest hit and line rider being the least popular...but no real duds.

What did everybody else get? Anybody playing wiifit?

Here is a round-up of our Wii Christmas.

Wii Fit - We all LOVE it!

Raving Rabbids TV Party - DS2 (7) favorite game. Lots of fun by yourself or in a group. We all would highly recommend this game to anyone! Great game if you have a Wii balance board.

Monopoly - Takes a little while to get adjusted to but lots of fun. I think at $39.99 it is priced too high. If you are interested in it, I would wait until it comes down in price.

Guitar Hero Aerosmith - I love it but that Joe Perry is a real pain to beat in those battles :lmao:

Mario Kart - Great game! I would recommend having a wheel for every person playing (just seems to add to the game)

Carnival Games MiniGolf - tough and frustrating! I don't see it getting much use

Wonder World Amusement Park - It is ok but DS (8) was really disappointed in it.

Games not played yet:

Sonic Unleashed
Lego Batman
Samba de Amigo
Zack & Wiki
Some movie games thing
Guitar Hero Complete Band (we are waiting until tomorrow to give this to them)

We tried a demo of Dancing with the Stars and it seems pretty fun. I think we might pick it up some time in the spring. Anyone have any personal experience with it?
