Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

We purchased a Wii 2 months ago for Christmas from Target, should we try it out to verify it works okay since Target's return policy is 90 days? If there is a problem with the unit itself, would Nintendo take care of it anyway? Thanks.

Have it...it's very well done...just like playing Guitar Hero on any other system. There are only like 25 songs so the selection is smaller then the wii version, but it's a great game on the go. I highly recommend it to all Gh fans.

Thanks:thumbsup2

I'm too lazy to read everything up to this point so my bump starts here! We have a LOT of Wii games. I'll contribute any chance I get.

But first a question... Would anyone like to give their thoughts on Wii Outdoors Challenge? Is it as good as Wii Fit? Because I LOVE Wii fit!!!

Just wandering if anybody in the know has heard anything about any aerobics based games that might be coming out. I'm loving the aerobics free step on my Wii Fit but would really like something more challenging.

I've also wandered if anybody has experimented with trying to raise the balance board off the ground a bit to give a better step work out?

FYI-- I did a search for games that use the wii balance board from wii Fit. Here's a couple links http://www.wiibalanceboardgames.com/ http://www.balanceboardblog.com/

And some info:

I did the same thing--purchased one 2 months ago and was wondering the same thing. Interestingly I think Target only issues gift cards now if you return the wii--I read that somewhere. I think we should be covered by Nintendo if the unit is defective for some reason. I thought about taking mine out to try it, but I know I wouldn't want to put it back, so it sits wrapped in the closet waiting for the next 45 days to pass.

Hi, DS wants these for XMAS so he can download older games. Any place that has any good deals on these?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Oooo another Yoga game - me like!! :rotfl: Sorry but Wii Fit can get boring after awhile. I need another yoga game to keep me motivated. A person can only do Wii Fit for so long before they get burnt out on it. Im glad they are bringing a new one out. It will help keep things fresh. :thumbsup2

Yoga Wii - Exercise Your Body, Mind and Soul (JoWood) - Out: Q2 2009
Software that'll give Wii Fit yoga fanatics much more to do, complete with an on-screen fitness instructor.

Has anyone tried Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum 2009 yet? I've read really bad reviews about it, but I wanted your all opinion's.

I bought Fitness Ultimatum 2009 and agree that I was really disappointed with it. Having said that, I still use it along with my Wii Fit to get some variety.

The one thing (and possibly only thing) I really do like about it is I work up more of a sweat doing Fitness Ultimatum than I do on Wii Fit.

The graphics are lousy but as is posted on reviews, that isn't the point of this game. What I do have a problem with is the delay between what I do and what my character on the screen does. Sometimes I'll need to kick two or three times for my character to match me. As sensitive as the balance board is on Wii, I have a difficult time believing it can't tell that all my weight shifted to one side and a foot left the board.

Several of the activities took me a while to play around with to get them to work. The tutorials before each are a good start but not very accurate. I've found that sometimes when it wants me to go up and down with my Wiimote and Nunchuck like a skiing motion, I have to actually do more of a clapping motion to get it to register.

I just keep in mind I should be doing the exercises she is instructing me to do and not worry about trying to make a good score.

The tips are good and I like that you get to unlock them. I can't comment on the commentary or music as I work out with it muted while I listen to other things.

I'm glad I have it because I was getting bored with Wii Fit but I wouldn't spend $40 again on it. If you really do want another workout game, I'd wait until it hits the $19 section which I imagine won't be too long. As I read in an Amazon review, you are probably much better off putting your money to a workout DVD.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about it!

I'm looking to purchase Wii Fit to go along with the Wii that I just purchased for XMAS (I got a Wii, Wii Play, an extra nunchuck & the charger based on the recommendations of this thread. The Wii Fit is the only other item I plan to purchase for now unless someone has some strong opinions on something me, DH & DS(almost 5) would LOVE).

Do you recommend the bundles that include the yoga mat, etc.? Do I need the sleeve for the balance board? What do you recommend?

Thanks.

You can use any yoga mat with the balance board and you can usually find them considerably cheaper. I don't recommend bundles as a rule unless you feel you NEED every single thing included. A lot of people like the sleeve, it's not necessary, but I think it can extend the life of the board...at least that is what it's supposed to do.

BTW thanks so much to everyone who has been answering questions. I've been really sick (sinus infection/bronchitis, etc). You guys are the best!
