I've never accidentally run 12... but I have had this tomato face you speak of. Although, it tends to be more eggplant purple than tomato red at this point... Getting rid of it is so important for race pictures, though.

Thanks! It wasn't so much accident, but more I felt great and wanted to keep going. I was on the treadmill, so I was watching those miles tick by!

John hit this on the head. I was running the 2008 or 9 half and had the 2 hour group pass me. I hooked onto the rear and kept up with them for maybe 4 miles. It was then that I realized that the pacer's plan was to run hard then coast into the finish in the last couple miles. We were running the about a 1:45 pace and I was not prepared for that. Ugh.

Note that they are better now that there is only one start line. Prior to the current wave configuration we had the elites through 4:45-5:00 runners on one side. On the other side the remainder of the race. One year we had the $;15 and 5:30 pace groups meet behind Mexico at the old course merge point. It was a real mess. Glad that they have corrected that.

Just remember that if you are in a pace group, you are just about like the group of friends running 3-5 abreast. Be runner friendly at aid stations and as folks come up from behind.

Glad to see you back Coach!!!! Really appreciate your running advice and always look forward to reading your posts!

So I went to look at the cover photo for the half marathon medal reveal and noticed that the URL was:

And there's your medal for the Anniversary. Looks cool to me.

Also according to https://secure-disney-cdn01.plcontent.com/rundisney-pl984/Content/Images/content-level5-unlocked.jpg there will be a registration discount for 20 hours after the reveal, so if you're thinking of signing up it'll be worth it to hold tight for another day or so.

Checked my ego by the door on the way out yesterday and aimed to use every second of my MP +60 sec pace for my first (of 5) 20 mile runs. And it went pretty well. The weather cooperated--pretty cool, which helped. I had good breath control, no extra "I just need to stop" stops, and didn't collapse in a heap when I finished. So I'm happy. Now if I can just stop comparing these runs to past training, and also stop worrying about my goal pace for November, then I will be happier.

I am totally going to bet you'll see a TON of whining & complaining on Facebook once they reveal it because there has been nothing but moaning & groaning that DL looks like last year & that Donald looks too close to last year as well.

I bet you'll hear it's ugly, it doesn't match the "theme" everyone keeps dreaming that there will be that all the medals for Goofy are similar, they want something more unique than a circle.... I can just hear it now...

It's an interesting medal. I hope you get both side where it spins so you don't have to choose

I just took the picture so it's on flickr but I can never get pictures to work on here... So far it's cute and the skirt is definitely fun to wear.

I like the medal because honestly, when I think about it, this insanity was indeed all started by a mouse. It's his fault I'm running this in the first place so it's only appropriate that this is acknowledged on the medal.
And if the center flips, I will flip! with excitement! in a good way!

Today the training plan called for 7 miles...but somehow I ran 12!! I have not ran this far since the Princess in February and I've been so bad at following the training plan lately with vacation and work that I didn't think I would make it to 5 miles. It was probably my best run to date...so much so that I did NOT get tomato face, which always happens! I think I might actually be able to do this whole marathon thing...

How did everyone else do this weekend??

Completing more than originally planned is a real mental booster. Can make one feel invincible.

I had a profitable 56 mile bike ride on Saturday. Found 13 cents on the ground. Sunday went out too early to find money but did see a few meteorites. Was planning on 17 miles and finished with 20 even though temperature was 82 and humidity was 84 at 2:15am. Was not in any rush, just pounded out the miles. Speed will rise when temperature/humidity falls.

Feeling a little low today - ran 10 miles yesterday, started having knee pain half way through. It was an out-and-back type run, so I had no choice but to run the rest of the way back (could have walked, but the knee pain was still there). It is on the inside of the knee - I've been icing it and using topical anti-inflammatory stuff, but still hurting a lot today. Just discouraged that I'm having pain this early in my mileage!

I am guessing that the Mickey in the middle is a spinning disk much like Diva's half marathon's. So we get both!!
I love it, can't wait to add it to my collection

On a training note, this weekend had so-so results. I got a cold and was out of commission Saturday and since I ran short last weekend I decided to try to tough it out for the full long run amount. Ugh! Started at 74 and 90% humidity, ended at 85 and 78% with heat index over 90. Not pretty. Ended up just getting home by any means necessary. I hate being sick! At least the first 9 miles were not too bad.

That's what I was thinking. I hope that's the case...I really like the more classic black-and-white Mickey!

Overall, I really like the medal. I can't say I love the pointy "20 years" part on the bottom, but I guess the point of the anniversary medal is to have the "20 years" somwhere. LOVE the quotes around the edges.

I could live with either.

All I can say is it is different. I like it much better than the 15th which was a little gawdy. Definitely like the Mickey Mouse Club Mickey in the center.

I wonder how good that discount will be...and I wonder if people that have already signed up are going to be irritated that they didn't get it. Maybe they'll release the discount after the next price increase...but wait, that's the end of September. They wouldn't drag the medal reveal out that long, would they?

It appears the discounts is just early registration pricing, so the people who will be mad are those who didn't register early, but registered before whenever they release this.
