Official WDW Marathon Weekend 2013 Thread

On the subject of characters, where is the best place to find characters for photo ops before the race start and after the race? I always seem to miss them. I had a great picture taken with Donald and Daisy by the castle for the half marathon but I waited in line for about 10 minutes for the picture and I don't think I can spare that time for the full marathon. Not sure I can spare the time for many pictures along the race at all! So some pics before and after race would be nice.

Did 5.5 miles today and It was all I could do to finish. This heat is really making it tough. I don't know how I'm going to be able to do 26.2

Please do not be overly worried at this time. Because of the heat and humidity we have in Fl. your training sessions will be much harder than usual and you will feel lousy. Unless you are super human, it is what it is.

I train with a heart monitor and can easily see my heart working harder, more beats per minute, with slower speeds and seemingly greater effort. The solution could be to slow your pace and extend the distance so you build a better base and when cooler days pop up, you train faster.

I'm with you. I finished 6.2 today and I was so slow I felt like I was standing still. It wasn't overly humid this morning so I thought I would tackle my "hilly route" that I have been avoiding since it got warm out. Big mistake!

No worries, though. As soon as September rolls around here, the weather will turn beautiful and the runs will get easier. Of course, then fall turns into winter and I'll be complaining it's too cold and snowy to run.

Man, I am way behind!
I just got new shoes so am now running in Brooks Glycerin 10's. I like a wide toe box and these are great. I have had them about 3 weeks and so far so good.
I don't always listen to music but when I do it needs to be upbeat and catchy. Mostly pop with some oldies thrown in there.

I can't predict anything but I remember the DL 1/2 filled up during PH weekend and that was seven months away!

I'm proud of you!! I can't get modivated. Been feeling ill. Plus 108 without humidity. it has been cooler in Florida the past month!! We are having power failure and water lines are breaking.

Haven't read the whole thread, but enjoying the good info as I work my way through. Got signed up this week for the half, which will be my first 1/2M ever! Working at getting the miles in but the midwest heat is really oppressive this year. The other day it was 86º at 7am and unlike Arizona this ain't dry heat Trying to get my runs done in the early am before the sun is up. Getting in some good 3-5 mile runs at 10-11 minute mile pace but will have to wait for the weather to break before I start to extend the distance.

I'll be doing the race with a buddy, so that will make it even better.

They post what percentage it is full on the website (today it's at 65%), so just keep an eye on that...

Things that helped me get through running today:
1. Ending at the burger place for a strawberry milkshake.
2. my new lululemon sports bra that I swear to god is most the comfortable thing EVER and I will totally wear in lieu of regular bras.
3. The knowledge that my friend started the couch to 5k plan because I'm apparently inspirational now.
4. I'm a fraction of a pound away from getting my wii to stop calling me overweight and finally be... normal.
