I'm looking at my calendar and I have a few training questions. On October 6, the marathon training calendar lists a 7 miler with MM. The next day I'm running the Diva 1/2. I'll just make my half my long run for the weekend but what about the MM? Also, on the 13th, DH and I are running the R&R 10K and that day has a 20 mile run on the program. I know I'll be running a total of 19.5 miles that week, so in order to keep my scheduled marathon mileage (27 for that week), when should I get those 6.5 miles in or do I just scrap them?

I would just skip the Magic Mile. It's there to help you figure out a realistic pace and see improvement. Your finish time for your 1/2 provides more info than the MM!

Hi from Indiana! My husband ran the Mickey last year and is going goofy this year! He is trying to talk me into the Donald. I am really nervous to sign up. I have only walk a 5k in my life. Can I realistic train and finish?

The 19 week training program at RunDisney.com starts the first week of September with 2 30 minute sessions and a 3 mile run/walk on the weekend. Spend the next month working up to that. Start easy, 15 minutes of 10 seconds running/50 walking with a 1 mile run on the weekend. The next week, so 20 minutes 1.5, then 25 2, then 30 2.5 while increasing the run/walk as you can. Then, magically, you are ready to start the training program! I promise, if you follow the Jeff Galloway program you will finish! I have never heard of anyone not be successful (with the exception of injuries). Good luck!

I have to ask since I would love some more comfortable ones, which sports bra was it?

It's the ta ta tamer II. I have it in a 34C and the ta tas were definitely tamed. It fits like a regular bra as opposed to the usual sports bra styles, and it definitely keeps them separate and relieved some of the shoulder/back of the neck pain I've gotten from other bras. Their stuff is pricey, but I've loved everything I've gotten there.

I took it on an 11 mile run on Sunday and I don't know if it was the bra or what, but I knocked those miles out in just over 2 hours and I finished feeling pretty great. Perhaps I've found a lucky bra?!

Is this the first year they're doing an after party for the marathon? Does anyone think they'll have characters? I'm not sure how I feel about it being open to the general public instead of just family/friends of runners. I'm wondering if it's worth my time or if I should just go to MK after the race.

I think they've done the after party in the past - back when Pleasure Island was still Pleasure Island. Looks like the only good thing about it is the fact that it gives you another chance at buying something you didn't buy at the Expo. I know I'll be skipping it. I'd rather be walking around Epcot than walking around the West Side. ;)

Or drinking around Epcot! I'm gonna need a margarita after the Goofy! :)

I was thinking about going to Epcot and hitting Biergarten for a HUMONGOUS beer but I'd probably pass out in my stein. LOL. Think I'll keep it alcohol free that night and go visit Mickey and then the next day, I'm hoping to be in fighting condition for beer and brats! And margaritas, and a grey goose slushie, and a gingerita, and if they have gluhwein, I will be in HEAVEN!

Has anyone ever gotten an email from Disney for races they don't remember registering for? I just got an email asking how my training for the ToT 10 miler is going with my "igift bag"... I mean, can it be I've started sleep registering for races?

Yeah. The two times I ran the marathon at WDW, during the last mile all I could think about was how I was coming back later that day to visit Germany, for all they good things they have brought to the world.

Haha. Sleep registering! Wish I did that...missed that registration!

Hi! My family is thinking about doing the 5k race in January. We are NOT runners but we love Disney and thought what a great way to get in shape and then reward ourselves with a trip/race to Disney. Can you enlighten me? Does the registration fee include entrance to the park for the day? And would we be running through Epcot? I am really enjoying reading thru this thread, it is very motivating ( makes me almost want to strive for the half marathon.... almost ) and it has been very informative! :)

Welcome! :wave2:

1. No, the registration fee for the race DOES NOT include park admission.
2. Yes, the course for the 5K race in January goes around the World Showcase! You can check it out here: http://as1.wdpromedia.com/media/ewwos/pdf/rundisney/wdwmarathon/2013/2013-Family5KMap.pdf

Hope this helps! You can find more information at runDisney.com.

You will have a great opportunity to have you picture taken with so many wonderful characters! Doing my first 5k at Disney has gotten me hooked!

Did anyone else see the runDisney Facebook page post about the half medal?

Word on the street is Donald is pretty jealous about Mickey's special 20th Anniversary Walt Disney World Marathon medal design. He loved his medal last year (pictured below) and wants a new one again... Should we tell him we've already designed him one?

Pardon me for being dense, but this means that they have come up with a brand new design for the half medal in 2013, right? :confused3 I hope they reveal it soon!

Yup, and according to the new post today, they're going to be revealing the 20th anniversary marathon medal soon, too! I'm almost not sure how I feel about that. I'm eager to see it, but it would be a nice surprise at the finish line!

Last time they did a "wait for the medal game" it was about 9 weeks.

I'm super, SUPER impatient when it comes to these things, so I want to see the medals ASAP! :hyper: :rotfl:

Run Disney on Facebook just posted like a game or something about the medal. I can't get it to work if someone could share please.
