It looks like our photos are up! Does anyone else not have any finish line photos on their page? I am disappointed, as that was the one I wanted to most--but I noticed my friend didn't have one either. Earlier the page said that they were still uploading photos, but that wasn't there when I checked just now.
Mine aren't there either, so I'm hoping they are still uploading those photos. They did the Spacecoast Marathon photography as well, and my finisher photo was late to be uploaded too. It did show up, so I have hope we'll get our finish line photos in a few days or so!

Hope to see you there!

rocio said:I did it! I am a marathoner!!! A very slow marathoner, but a marathoner nonetheless. That was brutal. I was thinking we would finish in a bit after 5 hours...5 1/2 at the most. I was able to do my 20 miler in 4 hours so it seemed do-able. Ah the heat! And the character stops. But the awesome thing was that I was able to do most of race and crossed the finish line with my two training partners. The women who I have experienced so much with in the last year and a half. Through all kinds of weather and different injuries. We agreed to run our own race and I am ecstatic that it was the same race. I was so emotional crossing that finish line hand in hand!
WWOS dragged. Agree that the 20 mile spectacular was a huge letsdown. It would have been fine if they hadn't built it up so much.
We walked most of the last 6miles as our faster runner was in a lot of pain. But we all had our moments of being down and moments of being a cheerleader for those having a thought time. Mine came around mile 12 when I realized we were on pace to finish in 6 hours. What?!? How could we be going so slow. Looking back it was a dumb thing to get me down but it messed with my head.
We finished in 6:22. Did not expect that but as has been said the heat was bad and I probably spent at least 30 minutes on pictures.
It was a great but horrid time. Difficult, exhilarating, challenging, emotional, empowering. There is not one word that can capture this experience.
Thanks for all the support here. Thanks Maura and Charles and everybody else for your encouragement. Especially when I was sidelined with my sprain. It helped a ton!
Oh and I did see Prmamidedos in the first mile! Yay!
I got pulled by the medical team in HSdizzy, asthma attack (and I do t even have asthma), faint, nauseous. I am sitting here crying. I was sooooo close!
Okay, powerful marathon people, I'm taking a poll! I am running the Princess for the third time and have 2 other halfs under my belt. Am considering making the jump to the full next year, but wanted to hear thoughts on if you think Disney is a good "first" marathon. My only hesitation is the time. I have no idea how long it would take me. (I run a half in about 2:20). I am all about the pictures, so throw that in and the thought of how long I'll be out there on the course kinda scares the bejeebers out of me! I would appreciate opinions.

Ok - everyone. Honest opinion time. I'm a 3:00 half runner. Should I wait until I can progressively work my time down into the 2:30-2:45 1/2 range before attempting a full? I'm afraid a 3:00 half time would not give me enough buffer when attempting a full. I've been able to work off 20 minutes over the course of the last year in my run times, so I'm definitely on the path to a faster time. Just don't know when or even IF I should ever think about attempting this. I will say that I'm a slower runner in the start and a faster runner at the second half of a half. I seem to like the longer distances - just not sure how well that would hold up against the really long distances. You're not going to hurt my feelings by being honest...if you think I'm still too slow to attempt this, then speak upI could happily stay in 1/2 land and still be proud of my accomplishments.

I just did my first full/goofy. My fastest half time is just under 2.5 hrs. But most of my halfs are around 3 hrs. My half time this year was a little over 3 hrs and my full time was a little under 6 hrs. I think it's completely doable for you to complete the full in under 7 hrs!
I had Goofy on my mind ALL of the past year. Everything I did was leading up to it. I had a solid base of running starting in the spring and then started officially training in the late summer.
I finished my two halfs in October and November at 2:56 and 2:47 and I finished the marathon (after the half the day before) at 7:09. If I had been doing just the marathon I could have gone faster and finished around 6:40 given the conditions. If I were at home and running a local marathon without the hassles and fatigue of travel stress, and in cooler conditions, I think I would run it about 6:15. I would recommend continuing to work on your speed so you have a good solid hour buffer, and work on getting a good time for a 10k or a half marathon to get into a good corral.
I consistently was able to do 13mm long training runs at home in the cool weather on good sleep, but with the half I finished with a pace of 14:59/mile and the full 16:10 I think!!! I was reaching really far in running the Goofy. Had I had more training under my belt, and done more near-race distance runs than I did, although I was no slacker by any means, I may have been able to run the same pace in the challenging race conditions as I did in training.
I hope these reflections are helpful.
