Official thread to keep track of GTY cabins ASSIGNED

So...GTY question. I've just booked a 5E. However, I'm seeing on some of the reviews that there's an ash/soot issue with quite a few of these rooms. This would be a big issue with my asthma.

Should I call DCL directly and let them know so that they can assign a room accordingly or should I just wait to see what happens and then see if they can move us at the Port if we happen to be assigned to a "problem" room?

We had a 5E on the Fantasy last March. It was an amazing, huge, over sized aft balcony and there was a lot of soot. It definitely limited the amount of time we spent on the balcony.
Would I do it again? Yes, because the room was over sized too!

Sorry about that. This is my first time sailing. The DisneyCruiseLine web showed my room "GTY, Category OGT" before the number was actually assigned. Could you please explain the difference between GT and GTY? Many thanks.

I logged into my Castaway Club account and saw it there, but if you log in on the Disney Cruise website, it should be under "Reservation Summary" it should be there.

Really? I thought they usually were assigned 60-50 days out? And this wasn't a VGT?! Oh I'm not sure I can last until only 11 days before departure for getting my cabin. I love the rates but the not knowing is agonizing!

It was a TA GTY rate, so it works a little bit differently, I'm sure.

Oh, as in special pricing only for TA travel? That makes sense. Lol I about had a heart attack, I was really looking forward to knowing my cabin assignment for a month or so before sailing. It's the little things lol

GENERALLY regular GTY rates are assigned further out, BUT DCL does reserve the right to assign you your cabin at any point up to the moment you check in.
