**OFFICIAL THREAD**Survivor: Panama

Season got off to a great start last night!

Looks like next week, idiot smoker :smokin: who should've quit long before the filming started is thinking of pulling an Osten :sad2:

It was stupid of the women to get rid of Tina, but she's as much to blame, going off on them at tribal.

Cirie does NOT belong on that show. I totally LOL when Tina asked "did she know what show she was coming on" - so true!

My comments are like most of the ones already:

WHY did those women vote off the one with the most outdoor experience? Cerie definitely has personality, but why in the world did she broadcast to everyone that she's afraid of what's under the leaves? Like Tina said, didn't she know what show she was going to be on?

And that guy who's trying to quit smoking: what an idiot! :confused3 You need every advantage you can get on Survivor, and you certainly do NOT need to be going through nicotine withdrawal!

Hilarious that the young guys were playing baseball when they got to their island instead of building a shelter and finding water and getting the fire going. Where are their brains?

I thought the astronaut and fighter pilot were trying to make an alliance way too soon (I can't remember who first broached the subject). Cripes, get to know someone first!

I kind of like the exile idea, and the 4 tribes is a neat twist; I just wish they could keep the 4 tribes for a while longer, but from the previews it looks like they're already switching up the teams next week.

I haven't had time to head over the Survivor website - have they started the fantasy league yet? I always do lousy, but it's kind of fun.

Did anyone else think Jeff went a little too dark with the hair color, and a little too heavy with the make-up?

I liked the 4 tribes because it really helped to get to know everyone. When you've got 8, 9, 10 people per tribe it's hard to keep track of who's who. I wish they'd stay apart for longer but oh well, at least everyone's pretty much identifiable now.

Good point. It also emphasizes social skills more, since it's harder to stay under the radar when there are less people to interact with.

Don't forget - found a fish! Loved it when the women asked how she got it and she said with her her bare hands. Loved it even more when she didn't offer up the info that she found it on the rocks LOL!

We were cracking up when Tina said she caught the fish with her bare hands! I can not believe they voted her off. She was the strongest player on their team!

They should have voted off Cirie. She is afraid to touch anything outdoors. And her swimsuit isn't practical at all. You think she would practice running around in it before the show started. Just think, in a few weeks after she looses some weight, it won't stay on at all!

This was a really great premier! I like all the new twists. This should be an excellent season! :thumbsup2

I was very disappointed with the older women. Hello?? Vote off the ONE person who knows what they are doing...WTH? I thought the younger women did very well considering they had no water or fire. Usually the younger "girly girls" are some of the first booted off, but I see potential. The older men rock! The younger men...again WTH? Why build a shelter when you can play baseball...lol. I think it was a neat idea separating into these groups. Look at the previous shows where the older "weaker" players get booted off first. This time b/c they were separated it really shows who works and who doesn't. Next week will be interesting...

Ah, but she didn't lie ;)

That's why I loved it so!!!! Can you imagine those three huddling together.....

"SHE CAUGHT A FISH WITH HER BARE HANDS!!" :hyper2:

LOLOLOLOLOLOLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did anyone see Tina on CBS Morning Show? I wondered if she knew she was going? Her remarks and her attitude towards the vote appeared to be ones of someone who knew her time was up.

Thanks.

Sharon

I thought the season got off to a great start. The Exile thing looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works out. I agree with most of what everyone else has to say. I also wish they were going to be seperated into 4 tribes a little longer. It gave the game some freshness. Can't wait til next Thursday!

I think Jeff needs to just say no to the self tanner. ;)

It was the astronaut that made the first move.

Just read the transcript of Tina's interview with Rene this morning on CBS. I thought she handled herself well, especially since Rene was IMO digging for a "response" on Cirie's remarks about her. The Survivor BB's had the jury picked out before the game started, and after seeing the contestants last night, I think they might be right on the final two.

Dunno if anyone else caught it, but I just finished watching Survivor Live. Interesting show (internet broadcast). I really liked Tina after that -- thought she was kinda strange on the show, but on Survivor Live she was great. Turns out there was more to the fishing story than we saw. She actually had more to do with catching the fish than just happening upon it. When she came up and saw the fish, there was still water in the tidal pool and she used rocks to stun it and keep it from escaping. So she really *did* catch it with her bare hands. LOL!

Did anyone else think of Dory with Tina's reaction to seeing the fish?

Oh, and she also said that she knew pretty well going into Tribal that she would be going. So her comment about them not carrying their weight had nothing to do with her being vote out, in her opinion.

Excellent show.

My thoughts on the teams..

Older Women:
Clueless!
I can respect someone who comes out to a show like Survivor with no prior camping experience, but to be afraid of leaves and such...? Um. And do they not have a clue that you don't vote out your strongest member until closer to the merge?? That *always* causes a problem. I was so hoping Cerie would go.

Younger Women:
Indecisive.
I agree with whoever it was that said once you find a spot that is good for a shelter, stop looking! Or at least don't look much longer. And from the Survivor Live, not only did Danielle (anyone think she even looks like Dani from last season?) volunteer, but apparently Courtney did as well and no one would accept a volunteer. Huh??
And what about that poor turtle? I wonder if they were advised not to eat it for some reason?

Younger Men:
Even more clueless.
Yeah, what's the first thing you do when you get to your island.... play baseball!! :rotfl: And what was with that one guy's yoga energy collection thing for building fire? Interesting, though, to see other beliefs than just Christianity. And that shelter? He at least started right with the center poles...

Older Men
Fantastic. Rock on, older men! Other than Shane (I think that's the name of the smoker), that is. By far, my favorite team, and I hope the 3 real older men (Dan the astronaut -- a favorite of mine for obvious reasons, the fighter pilot, and Bruce the asian who is very good out there) go far.

Oooh, I'm so glad I found this thread!! I really like the older men so far, except for the smoker :smokin: :smokin: what was he thinking? Dan the astronaut , why didn't you get a starter tan before going to an island? I hope you don't fry! :firefight Circe, wow woman, I'd be so embarassed  I wonder if she'll wear a t-shirt over her suit next challenge?

I did feel sorry for Tina, she came off as a little odd, but if she had shared her story of her son's accident, I think the others would have understood her moods better.

Did someone say they are all forming one tribe next week? :confused3

Can't wait till thursdays!! (and Wednesdays for LOST!!!) :goodvibes

I got to hear part of the Survivor Live cast, too. I thought that Tina had to have known she was gone, when she made the comments about the others not working. Sometimes the social relationships of Survivor remind me of Animal Farm.

I just read some of the bios on the CBS website. I didn't realize that Tina's son died only a week before she supposed to go off to Guatemala. Does anyone know who replaced her?

If I got it right -
the team that loses the reward challenge has to choose one of their members to go to Exile Island. That person will stay alone on Exile Island until the immunity challenge. There is no food (other than what is growing on the island, no fire (unless you can figure out how to make one) and without fire, you can't drink the water.
There is an extra immunity idol hidden on Exile Island, so even though it is hard to be there, the chance to search for the idol is a huge advantage. Whoever has to stay on the island gets one hint from Jeff and if the idol is found, another will be hidden on the island.
If you find the idol, you can choose to use it, trade it, give it away or hang onto it. It can't be used anymore after the point of the final 4. It can be used after the voting (before, the immunity idol could just be used before), so you can truely use it to save yourself. If the person using it had the most votes, the person with the next highest number of votes is out. Which could stir things up a lot.

Thanks, Sue! That sounds pretty good! :thumbsup2
