Okay you ravenous Olympic fans! I know I'll be glued to the television for the next 16 days...will you? Starting tonight, I'll be a big soggy weepy mess as we kick off weith what I am sure will be an emotional opening ceremony (if not a bit artsy).

So what sports are you looking forward to? I watch the figure skating, downhill skiing, snowboarding, curling (heheheheeee), speed skating, bobsledding, luge, skeleton, ski jumping, and I love the athlete profiles they do.

An aside...I heard that baseball and softball got canned for the next summer games!

I'll be right there with you.

Athletic I'm not, but I love to watch. I will break into a good sweat trying to get to the fridge during the commercials. :rotfl:

Woo hoo, the Olympics!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I'm excited, though I don't know how much I'll actually be able to watch, seeing as I have school and homework. :sad2: But I'm still excited! :teeth: I am soooo jealous, one of the girls in my English class is leaving today to go to Italy because one of her good friends is a speed skater, so she's going to watch her races! hehe, she actually said the Olympics are like Disney World on acid.

Go USA!!! :cheer2:

I've been planning my evening around the opening cermonies, but I still don't know what channel is hosting it. NBC?

Yes it will be on NBC!

I think baseball and softball got cancelled since it is only really popular in the U.S. Think about it, Rugby is not an Olympic sport-even though the League has been trying forever to get it in the Olympics-our Football isn't either. I wouldn't be surprised if basketball gets it next.

Woo hoo! Less than an hour until the opening ceremony :cool1:

I'll be watching figure skating, (all) downhill skiing and ski jumping, bobsled, skeleton, luge and curling. I might also try and catch some speed skating.

I can't wait until the action starts tomorrow! :Pinkbounc

I love the Olympics!! I'll watch mostly any event, can't wait for the Figure Skating, Go Sasha!!

Love them too! Just have to try to talk DH into loving them. My guess is that I'll be spending a lot of time in my bedroom watching TV!

Well the opening ceremonies are on right now. They look beautiful so far! Everyone in the audience is wearing a white poncho over their winter wear and it makes for a really nice effect.

How are we going to work spoilers on this thread? I know I don't want to know the results until they air on TV but I know some people like to find them out live.

Should we do 2 threads? What do you think?

Most definitely!!! :cheer2: Got the Tivo set to record the next three days of coverage and have the DVD burner ready to do its transferring. :p

What will I be watching... any of it! Anything! Everything! ...and heaven help anyone that stands between me and the tv when short track is on!

Spoilers! Ack!! I'm on the west coast! Maybe I should avoid the CB the next couple of weeks. :scared:

I am a big Olymic fan too... Sunday I am dropping friends off at the airport so they can catch their flight for Italy.... BIG BRATS!!! Another family that we are very close to are on their way as I type this..... Oh well I know that in a couple weeks me and DD11 will be sporting our Olympic Barets and headbands with the braids attached... (too funny)Gotta love having souvenier connections.. :p The family that is on their way right now have tickets to the womens skating finals... He paid $900.00 per ticket. Insane, there are 4 in his family.... 4 years ago he was in Salt Lake and also had tickets for the Womens skating finals and sat next to Katie Curic (sp).

They will also air on TV at different times. What kind of coverage will they be doing in the US? Here in Canada, the Olympics will be on all day so we can watch most events live.

I think 2 threads would be good, one for discussion and one for spoilers.

we cant wait to watch the opening ceromonies
i love all the skiing and i love the figure skating
GO MICHELLE !!!!

My favorites to watch are figure skating and speed skating. The one I'd most like to try, though, is bobsledding. I think that would be so much fun!

I was so happy when the CBC Olympic programming schedule arrived in today's National Post -- Live Olympic coverage starting on most days at about 5:30am - 7:00am and ending live coverage around 5:30pm with highlight coverage for about 3 hours at 8:30pm. Just enough time for Coronation Street to get it's airplay!

I didn't get to see the Opening Ceremonies today, save for a few minutes while visiting in the hospital -- what a way to light the cauldron!!

We love the Olympics in our house. I've had a horrible day and can't wait to just kick back and enjoy the Olympics. By the way:

GO MICHELLE :jumping1: party:
