Official Thread For Upcoming Eastern Canadian Cruises

Thanks for the carseat info.

In Halifax I was thinking of doing a self guided walking tour but wanted a backup plan incase my 6 year old get tired walking or we run into any issues. We'll have the stroller for my 2 year old and I wasn't planning on bringing a carseat on the ship let alone on our excursion. I'm assuming only my 2 year old would need a carseat in the taxi? She is in a booster at home and I know rules change from place to place. I think we'll look for #'s of cabs with carseats just incase but also carry a public bus schedule/map with me as our backup plan.

I haven't gotten to Saint John yet but I will definately keep that link handy.

I just booked the following for 9/9 - 9/12 - seemed like a good deal for those looking for a pre-cruise stay

Thanks for posting. I went to check it out but it's more than our reservation at Candlewood Suites, but I plan to keep checking anytime anyone posts just in case.

It's an old, refurbished hotel. I've passed it many times, it doesn't look inviting from the outside.

Hmm, I think you might need a booster seat actually, although I'm not sure how strict they are about it. The other thing is that I believe that even the companies that provide carseats require you to put them in yourself (it's a liability thing).

i believe the milford was 'the lullaby of broadway' - so you may get some specials because of location

Could I please get these with June 17 - 22? No family name on the 2nd one....just dates...

A question for the New Brunswickians before I make a magnet or t-shirt: is this use of the flag offensive or in poor taste?

Here's a thought:

So someone has posted times for the excursions, and I'm a little disappointed as it looks like we'll only be able to do one at each port as each of the ones we wanted to do start about the same times. We might be able to book one through Disney and one on our own in Halifax. I'm going to sit down with dd11 this weekend to see what her number one pick is at each port and then go from there.

But that's good on the pocketbook....:rotfl: And will allow some afternoons for exploring on our own....

I noted several things in Halifax to do on our own, but didn't see much about Saint John....would love more ideas from locals if you're out there.....

I would suggest a nice stroll through Market Square, do some shopping, you could also visit the museum. Reversing falls might be a little far to walk to, but it is close, and as far as I know the zipline will be going this summer.

Hi Jkpmac! Do you know folks who have done the zipline?! It looks like fun, but I'm wondering why Disney chose not to use it as a Disney port adventure. Maybe it's just because it handles smaller groups. Would love to hear feedback about that!
Also, can you give us a sense of walking time from the ship (Long Wharf) to the Market Square area, and then to the Reversing Falls (by foot). Heard there is a nice "path"; what's it like? Thanks for the local info!!! You don't know how great it is to be able to ask someone!

I apologize if this question is a bit stupid, but how readily available is BBC type merchadise? More specifically as all the stores here will carry merchadise related to our popular shows, can Dr. Who items be found in just regular stores or toy stores? My 7 y.o. is a huge Dr. Who fan(thanks to me) but the merchadise here is just in the sci-fi stores and quite expensive and what I have found on-line that I like once shipping is added isn't too reasonable either.

We are on the 1st sailing in June.

Could you post a link to this, please? I must have slacked off and missed it.

Thanks for this! I am surprised that there are so many excursions with only one time slot. That will either cause large crowds to descend on a location all at once or intense competition for a spot. Hmm.

No problem. I am surprised too. We had really hoped to at least be able to do 2 excursions in Halifax, but it looks like we'll be choosing one at each port.

I was sure some of the things like Theo the Tugboat would have 2 or 3 different times...

Theodore tugboat goes out many times per day:
http://www.mtcw.ca/theodoretugboat/Schedules.php

It's maybe a ten minute walk from the ship, so you could easily arrange that on your own. It looks like Disney has just reserved it for an additional time outside its usual schedule.

Yea. I saw their schedule. With so many trips out, that was why I was surprised that Disney didn't offer at least one later time..

No question is stupid, be glad to see what I can find out re: sources of BBC material or specifically Dr. Who. Part of me is thinking New York would be a more likely place, but I will check it out!!

I'd like some input from our local Canadian friends on which excursions they think I'd be most likely to see Puffins. That's my goal for this trip! :cutie:
