I got my 10 in today. Now I know I can do 13. It may not be pretty, but I can do it!!
I also learned some important things, lol, like fueling is for real and serious business. I only took one GU with me because I planned on doing 8 miles only. I had it early at mile 3. I started out going out for four miles and then back. I felt good around 5 (after the GU kicked in, DUH) and decided to go for 10. Called DH at home and told him to put another GU and a water in my mailbox. I got home at 8 to get the new water and do the last two in the neighborhood and opted NOT to take the GU thinking I was almost done. Dumb, dumb, dumb. The last two miles were not fun and I had some swirlies going around in my eyes. I think I was getting lightheaded. I should have taken another GU way before 8. I won't do that again.
Another reason for doing long runs at home, right, so you can make these silly mistakes on a day other than the Big Day?
Also my Garmin turned itself off three times during the run. I thought maybe doing intervals was wearing down the battery really fast but when I looked up the specs (it is a Forerunner 205) it said the battery life is 10 hours. So that is a headscratcher for sure. Nothing like running your heart out only to look down and see your time and distance hasn't counted!!
Other than that, I'm getting excited! Four weeks from today!! Woo hoo!! Keep up the good work, my fellow Princesses!
