Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

AWW *snif* Did you get your departing gift though? The pictures of the parks were nice. I'm supposed to be framing them for our Disney room. You know, what with all my free time.
.

Ya, mine are still sittin' here in the envies that they came in also.. Actually, you totally just reminded me about them, and i need to hang 'em up. We have 2 sets - since Cait got one set too.. So,i am gonna put one up in her bedroom, and the other in my craft room.

BTW -- How's the weather in Savannah? U melting yet?? :lmao: It's finally starting to get warm here - mid 80's this week, now that freakin' summer is 1/2 over. I am definately lookin' forward to going to WDW next week to get some warmth. You know you got a spot on my poly rug next week too.. :cutie:

No flames! We love you! I wish you could see yourself flying down the road. If I looked that cool, I wouldn't want any parks slowing me down either.

Thanks Lauren  I somtimes worry about what I post as I'm not a walker / runner.

Hot, freaking hot, Africa hot. Then last night we had a monsoon and so we without power until this morning. Lightening struck the tree outside our house, fell, and that's what brought the power lines down. Now it was hot, really hot, but so still and quiet and when you're sitting in your living room and you hear the horses go by clopping on the cobblestones on their way out to stable for the night you think, man, life used to be so different!

I :lovestruc the Poly!

OMG, don't EVEN tease like that!!!!! Could you imagine how COOL the medal for that would be?!!! :banana:pirate:pirate:pirate:

I think I just drooled a little!

Odd question but...

has anyone seen an ad for the 2010 race? I found one for the 2009 but haven't been able to locate one for 2010. I wanted to put one up in strategic places for motivation and can't seem to find one :(

I've got the 2009 up temporarily but, it's not working too well (a silly mental thing) because it's like I'm training for an event I already missed :rotfl:

I know!! And HOW can they discontinue the P&P parties.. that would just totally fit in.. :(

I'm on week 2 as well!! How are you doing with it? It's not easy for me, but I like this program a lot better than the Beginning Runner's Guide that I tried earlier in the year. It's nice to have someone else who's kinda on the same pace as me![/QUOTE]

It isn't too bad. I think I tried the Beginning Runner's Guide thing before. I am nervous about going longer than 90 seconds. But I remember reading somewhere if you could do the workout before you will be able to do the next one.

just subscribing to this thread.....

March seems so far away but I am planning on running the Princess 1/2 and 5K again in 2010. I will probably stay at BCV or BWV.

FYI, taking a cab to the start of the 1/2 was a really good move last year. The line for parking was really long but the cabs dropped us off by the park entrance and it was much faster to walk to the bag drop area than to park in the lot by the start line.

I hope the rumor of the Pirate 1/2 marathon in the fall is true. Between the Princess 1/2, Disneyland 1/2, and a possible fall 1/2, all of my annual DVC points will go towards Disney running events!

My "official" princess training will not begin until late January.

Do most of you take your kids with you to the Princess or is this a "Ladies" weekend sort of thing? I'm at the end of the 2nd wk of the c25k and am looking forward to the Tower of Terror 5k with my kids. I sure hope we'll be ready. We've never done anything like this before and as soon as I discovered Disney held these races a light bulb went off....exercise, family time, Disney....so here I am wondering if the Princess half is out of the question. I may be jumping the gun but that is usually the case when it comes to Disney.

Hi, well, i guess i am not sure what you mean about taking kids -- Do you mean do the kids race? Or do they just go?

My dd is 8 1/2, and she watched me at the race last year (and the Minnie 5k before that) and got interested - she did the kids race last year (400 meter) but wants to do the 5k - so i signed her up to do the Royal family 5k - which kids are welcome to do - just take note of the pace times..
As for the 1/2 - i believe there is an age minimum for kids - either 13 or 14 i think - somewhere in that area.. so that is out of the question for my dd - plus there is no way she would be able to do 13 miles. When she is at that age, and trains for it, if she wants- then we will talk.

But, this whole thing is a girls trip for us - this will be our 3rd year going for a race/vacation - and it's -- Me, dd, my sister, my mom, and my MIL (who goes to watch my dd when we race).. We have a BLAST. :)

Hi All! I'm Amiee (aka EE) and just committed to doing the 1/2 along with my Goddess thread friends. I'm not a runner by any means, but this is something I have to do for myself. Big mental hump here. At any rate, I am looking forward to the race.

I will be doing the half again this year. It was so much fun last year. :D

Hello All! I hope everyone's training is going well. I feel that I've hit a wall lately. The weather here in NC has been miserable, and I just can't get out the door! Today it is already 76 degrees and 99% humidity at 7:45am! We are leaving for a 2 week trip to Michigan followed by a 2 week trip to Alaska so hopefully that will motivate me again. For now, this weather is just killing me! Last week I almost called DH to pick me up because I really didn't think I'd be making it home I was so hot and sweaty. This weather is killing me!

I am thinking about switching from morning to after dark at least for this week. We'll see!

Just needed to vent a bit! Thanks for listening!

You're a better woman than I even attempting to go out in this heat. I started hiding inside about two weeks ago and won't go out again probably until late September! :scared1: Look at it this way, usinng the MFM plan you don't start training until October I think, and that'll be just about perfect. I used the MFM plan for my last 1/2 and did fine and that was with me coming straight off the couch. So don't push yourself right now. It's just too freaking hot!

Do you happen to know what date in October? When I moved I lost my copy of MFM. I've ordered a new copy but I was trying to map out my training plan and can't date it until I've got my new copy of the book. If you happen to know the start date and could let me know I'd really appreciate it. (I thought it was 14 weeks but that can't be right if we start in October so now I'm not trusting my memory at all :P)

Also- i have a quick question about the boards. I was wanting some ideas about planning my Princess weekend. Would I post those in this section since it centers around an event or in one of the "planning" sections? I don't want to cause extra work for the mods by putting it in the wrong place :(
