Official thread for Sept. 21 Wonder!

Wising on a star -

Oh my gosh!! I am right there with you about this board. Every since I found it, I am addicted! I just can't get enough. My husband has been teasing me aobut how much time I have spent on here looking at posts, etc.. I have to say I have learned a whole lot from this board, I'm so glad that I found it!!

I was really trying to be a bit funny and tongue in cheek with that post! (... thongs at the Mickey pool!!! :p ) NOBODY laughed!!! But, it is so true.... When we first started planning our cruise and I found this board... It is like a treasure of information!!! There is so much that we would have NO idea about, otherwise. It is priceless!

You know, the only thing with a DISmeet is planning when and where. That first afternoon and evening are sooo busy! And, since I haven't cruised... I just do not have a good idea on how to plan it, YET!!!! ;) We are on Deck5, and I know that there is a nice area, with some benches, etc... near the Buena Vista Theater... (Right, all you veterans????) We could meet there to say hello... The Promenade Lounge comes to mind as well... Both of these are a simple elevator ride directly between the two. Maybe meet there on Deck5, then, if desired, move down to Promenade for drinks? Any suggestions welcome!

So....are thongs allowed at the Mickey pool??? :p I mean do they actually have a rule saying...."NO THONGS ALLOWED?!" Heehee....

I was laughing! I can totally relate to the addiction. Yesterday I spent 8 hours in a car to go to and from a bridal shower. Got home at about 9pm, first thing I did was kick DH off the computer so I could check here to see if AP rates came out yet! Well, I did say hello to DS first. ;)

BTW, welcome chubbyjen!

LOL!

Hey, Jen and Debi, is this your first DCL cruise? Do you have any plans or excursions that you are excited about?

Tell us more! Tell us more!!! :Pinkbounc

Hi Stimpy  nice to meet you!

Yeah...this is DH and my first cruise ever!!! That's why we are sooo excited! I've been longing to go on a cruise and when we finally decided to do one...I was like we have to do the Disney one!! It just sounds so awesome!!!

So a little about us. We're both in our 20's ...getting to our late 20's now...heehee..and we are celebrating our 1 year anniversary (which was actually yesterday :p ) on the cruise! :Pinkbounc

We did plan some excursions...here they are-
Nassau- Catamaran snorkeling
Freeport- Kayaking
Castaway Cay- Parasailing

However, I'm not too sure about the kayaking excursion. It sounds like lots of fun and I posted a message asking if anyone has done it and so far no one has really replied yet :( . So, we're wondering if it actually worth it. I'm very excited and scared about the parasailing. Sounds cool...but then I'm afraid of heights. So...dunno if I'll chicken out the last minute. :p

So...that's us. :teeth:

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!

Wow, in your 20's, your FIRST anniversary!!! Man, you are gettin' too OLD!!! ;) LOL!!!! ( just a little joke from an old fogey here!!! :p )

You and DH are making plans for Palo, right???? I am really looking forward to Palo, as DH and I get very little opportunity for getting away alone for fine dining like that. It sounds just divine!

I see what you mean about your post on the Freeport excursion. Seems that since only so many sailings stop there, and then so many people simply stay onboard... Not a lot of feedback.

I would have considered the snorkeling there, but I am soooo glad that they have the one at CC now!!! Means that I won't have to be concerned about the quality of the excursion... (it is DCL - on CC!) Also, we can leave DS with the kids club at CC, and not have to worry!

Can't wait! :smooth:

Wishing on a star-
Yeah...we are gonna make ressie's for Palo. Still deciding on which night though. Someone suggested to us that we should do it the night of Parrot Cay. Which night are you skipping?

I'm pretty sure we are gonna go snorkel at CC too! That's so nice that you and your DH can go snorkel while leaving your DS at the kids club!! Just wondering...did you rent the snorkel gear already? Or are you gonna wait til you get to CC to do that?

Hey Chubbyjen,

For Palo, there are two ways to pick a night... Number one, pick a restaurant that you would not mind to miss. As an adult couple, chances are greatest that you will get the TAPT rotation??? Or, you can go on the very first or last night, since you would be visiting that restaurant twice. I would not want to miss Parrot Cay... The tropical theming goes along with the cruise. And, it is a 'fun' restaurant, with a steel drum band, etc! If I were wanting to skip a restaurant, I would probably pick Tritons. Here is why. AP and PC have neat theming, different menus, etc.. Also, you can always experience Tritons for breakfast and/or lunch. Remember to let your servers know that you will not be at dinner, especially if you go on the last night. And, then you can still stop by the dining room and leave them your tip.

You know, with this Freeport itenerary, and losing our day at sea, now the last day is like SUPER busy!!! We will have Castaway Cay - Seahorse Snorkel Adventure - DS in the Kids Show with Mickey Mouse - dining at Palo - Disney Dreams - (and starting to pack on top of everything else!!!) But, I am still determined to be in line to get Palo on that last night.

About the snorkeling... I am really excited about the Seahorse Catamaran Snorkel Adventure. Spending the day at Atlantis at Nassau means that we could not do the Catamaran there... and then there is our son to consider... So, with this new Snorkeling adventure at Castaway Cay, it works out perfectly! I'll get to snorkel after all ! Of course, there is the snorkel lagoon on CC, but that would not compare to snorkeling out on the coral reef.

I am just praying for decent weather!

Okay....I'm kinda confused now. So, on the 4 night cruises do we get to go to 1 dinner restaurant twice? I thought they also had the Best of Master Chef for a night? Just wondering. It will be much easier skipping a restaurant if I knew we were gonna go there twice...but if it's a different restaurant a night...it's just sooo hard. Heehee. I'll think about it. :p

Wishing- just noticed that you will be doing the seahorse snorkel at CC and therefore they will provide you with the snorkel gear. As for us..I think we are gonna snorkel on our own..so I'm not sure if we should reserve our gear early. Hmm.... Anyway, I hope we get perfect weather when we get out there!!!

The Best of Master Chef is held in the same restaurant you dined in the first night. So if you ate at Triton's on the first night, you would have the Best of Chefs also in Tritons. :D

Right, you get the same restaurant that you started with on the first night... But, you get the 'Master Chefs' menu... Definately nothing to skip Palo for!!!

Yep, chubbyjen, we will be going out on the Seahorse catamaran to snorkel the reef that is around CC... Expensive!! But I have heard great reviews.

Especially right now, with it being end of Summer... You may be able to buy your own halfway decent snorkel gear for LESS than the rental at CC.... (the life-vest things are free of charge for everyone.) You might want to check around... I bought a snorkel mask w/breathing tube at Walmart for $9.00. It is not the very highest of quality. (but not a super cheap toy either...) I have just practiced snorkeling when I took DS to the pool... and it works okay! Probably some deals on some nice equipment online too?

As far as reserving your gear early... I have never heard of anyone having a problem with getting snorkel gear, floats, etc... when at CC... Probably do not have to reserve early???

Thanks for clarifying the dining rotations. So, I guess I shouldn't skip the Master Chef's menu. :D I guess I might just skip Tritons if I do end up being there for 2 of the nights.

Thanks for the snorkel gear advice too! I'll go check them out around the stores here and see if i can get a good deal. I think the rental at CC is $25, so if I can get something that is less than that, that will be great!!! :p

My Mom must be excited - she's already started packing a few things!

I think DH is getting a little jealous now. He was originally supposed to be out of town at a work convention and that is why I planned this trip. Now he doesn't have to go to the convention. I'm sad to leave him behind, but still excited to go.

Just counting the days...

Wow! Your DH - getting jealous!!!! ( I know I would be!!! :bounce: ) This bouncy is 'green' with jealousy, jumping up and down saying... "Wahhh!!!! I wanna go!!!"

I'll bet your Mom is getting REALLY excited!!!

I know I simply cannot wait!!! We have hit all kinds of problems getting these cruise T-shirts done... Turns out DH can print the iron-ons with his printer at work... (our lame printer doesn't look like it does mirror-image!!!) But, now we have to take care of getting one of the fonts that I used onto his computer.... We were trying to copy it, and accidentally DELETED it!! Arrrgghhhh!!!!

Anyhow, once I finally see these shirts done, then I will KNOW that we are really getting ready to CRUISE! :Pinkbounc
