Official thread for Sept. 21 Wonder!

Thanks Stimpy!

Can't get lost here at our 60 day mark!!!

Anybody else staying the night at the Radisson, or another hotel near the port? Since it seems to be such a whirlwind of activity once we board the ship, I was kinda wondering if anybody else may want to join us at Grills on Saturday night to watch the Magic sail by, and get really really psyched up for our cruise. Or, is everyone flying in on Sunday, or staying at WDW????

I am so undecided about scheduling a snokeling excursion! I am really leary of scheduling at Freeport, unless I can find at least one person here on the DIS who gives it a really good review. (The only other time I have snorkeled was at Jamaica, and let's just say the staff were questionable at best!!!) The new excursion at CC sounds just great! Only thing is, especially with the price, it would be $100.00 for the two of us  DH is ready to stay behind and let me just go on my own if I want.

Boy, I am getting soooo excited!!! Just hope we have some good weather for our cruise! :smooth:

We are thinking about going to Atlantis when we are in Nassau, but we can't decide if it is worthwhile or not. Has anyone ever been there? Is it worthwhile, or should we spend the day on the ship. Also, which is the best way to do it - via the cruise, on our own, or by booking through Comfort Inn? Thanks for any help.

Cathy

Hello Cathy!

Yes, we are planning on going to Atlantis. (praying for nice weather!!!) I have not been, but have REALLY researched it. Everyone recommends going on your own... The tour sounds similar to a glorified time-share-sales-pitch. Miles of fast-paced walking. Etc... It just seems so easy to hop in a cab and be dropped off right at the front entrance. Go and see, as you please, and return when you want. Beats following an excursion group.... taking the often overcrowded water-taxi... and being limited as to what you can do on your own.

Now, whether it is worth it is entirely up to you! I think it will be for us. DS LOVES aquariums... An added pool and beach day are a real plus for me! I am assuming that you have checked out their web site? What would you and your family like to do while at Atlantis? I see you have a 2 year old to consider.... If you want the pools, slides, and beach amenities (shaded beach chairs, etc...) and you want full access, then I would recommend getting a room at the Comfort. This is what we are doing... Call their 1-800 number directly and ask for the LGOLD rate of $136.50. If that is not still available, then go online and book the internet rate at $175.50.

If you just want to go thru the DIG aquariums, check the resort out, and then head back to the ship, then I would recommend just taking a taxi over, get the $25.00 wristbands, and do it that way.

Hey, maybe we could share a taxi over! ???

We just can't decide....I definitly want to go to Atlantis. We are thinking about booking the Comfort Inn as well, but we are trying to figure out if the beaches and pools will be worth the extra money. Sharing a cab sounds great... Thank you for all of the info...

I emailed Disney to reserve the Ardastra Gardens and City Tour in Nassau. In only about 10 minutes, they had already e-mailed me a confirmation!

We decided against doing any of the glass bottom boat excursions.

Wow! That sounds quick and easy! I called and booked DH and I on the Seahorse Catamaran Snorkel Adventure at CC... and they said they would send confirmation to our TA. We booked thru Dreams Unlimited. I figured with this excursion, that it would have a limited number of people, so even if we decide to cancel, that I had better go ahead and book right away! :smooth:

PS: jott3, our countdown clocks being EXACTLY the same, down to the last second is still just killing me!!!! :D

That is pretty cool about our clocks, Wishing on a star!

So, where is everyone staying on the ship?

My Mom and I are on deck 7 in a category 8 oceanview stateroom (porthole). Last year DH and I had a verandah. Hope I don't miss it too much this time!

Secret Porthole Room! #5520, very very little obstruction, and non-connecting too. We were lucky to get that one! And, early booking rates too, by booking so far in advance. That will be SOOOOO convenient for DS and the kids club. Simple drop-off and pick-up. Especially at night. We do hope he will not mind being in the club for at least ONE night... ;)

I would just DIE for a verandah! But, unless DCL comes up with a complimentary ugrade  Looks like DH or I would have to kick the bucket and collect on life insurance or something to pay for one!!! Hahahah!!! Deck 4 and Deck 7 Aft await...

Anybody else?:D

I decided to just get the porthole room this time to save some money. The verandah is nice, but you spend so little time in your room that it seems wasted. I think you'll like your room just fine!

We have room 2606 (cat 9). We are also booked at the $136.00
rate at the comfort suites for the day at Nassau. I hope it's all it's cracked up to be :) We are flying in late on Saturday night and so we are just staying at the Hyatt at the airport (got it on Hotwire for $52).

We're on deck 6, cat 6. Since it's just me, DH and preschool son, we thought a veranda would be nice when DS goes to bed. When just me and DH went last, pre-DS, we had a veranda and were spoiled. Since we got a somewhat decent rate, we figured why not do it again. Can't wait!!!

Thanks for the reminder about the excursions Jott3! Completely forgot to do them! I have to get moving on that right away!

Hello again everyone,

I have just collected the bits of new information, like our staterooms, and what excursions we may do, and have updated the main post at the top of this thread. So, if you are interested, check it out!

Sept. will be here before we know it!!!

We are on the 6th deck as well. We also wanted a verandah room since we have a 2 year old. We thought it would be nice to sit out there while he is asleep.

Can't wait for September to be here.

Cathy

We got our confirmation email for the Ardastra Gardens tour before. It was quick and painless. Still can't decide what to do in Freeport! I guess we'll probably stay on the ship that day.

Hi Jott3,

Yep, we decided on that tour after we looked over the website info you posted! Thanks again. We're really looking forward to it since we're big animal lovers. Plus it's short enough for DS to get back to the clubs if he wants.

We'll be easy to recognize....my DS will probably have at least one band aid and a hundred bruises by then. The kid is fearless and feels no pain! Unfortunately, he's also a little accident prone  I watch him like a hawk and he still manages to get minorly injured...most of the time he doesn't even know it! He never cries unless he's really hurt bad. I keep telling my DH that as he gets older we'll probably spending alot of time in the emergency room.

Our last trip to Disney World, we had to fill out 2 accident reports, surprisingly, neither incident was his fault. I can't wait to see what happens on the cruise  If you see a paranoid mother chasing a 4 yr old away from the railings....you'll know why!

LOL! Stimpy...

My DS is just the opposit... very coordinated and careful!!!!! But, he may still be covered with band-aids too. He is a 'mosquito attractor' (ever heard of that?) And, he is like allergic to them! The dermatologist says it is like a form of excema... The bites really whelp up, then they turn into excema bumps that then scab over and leave pockmarks! I go thru a bottle of repellant spray, tubes of creams, and a box of bandaids, like once a week!!!

PS: talking about boys... DS is officially training wheels free, as of TODAY!!! ( okay, can you tell that I am another proud, paranoid, overprotective mom!!! LOL!!! )

Okay Wishing on a Star. I will give in and give you a little bit more information...:D . You know we men tend not to be talkers.....We are in 3 seperate categories. Category 2,3 and then I don't know the other category. I just know it's an inside cabin.
