** OFFICIAL Survivor: Cook Islands Thread ** ‘Survivor’s’ new racial divide

They should have hung on and kept Johnothan at least a few more days and gotten rid of Adam just to secure numbers a little more.

After the reward challenge DH said they should have picked who was going to the reward BEFORE picking the one going to exile island. It would have been amusing if Pav's dad had picked Johnathan to go with them. Then the 4 that were left chose one of them to go to exile.
I think that would have been funner. Could you imagine Pavs reaction if Dad had chosen Jonathan.

I sure hope they don't flip on Ozzy next week. That would be a huge mistake!

dh just knew that Jonathan was going home last night. I did not want to believe him!!

I think it was just plain dingy to do that.

I'm having trouble viewing the episode on CBS.com :( It'll play for a few seconds, then it goes to a commercial, then the show comes back for only a few seconds, then goes to a commercial, then comes back to later in the show for only a few seconds :( :( Anyone else either able to view it OK, or having the same problem as me?? Good grief, I just want to see this show! LOL :confused3

Well at least I just caught him on the Early Show. I love him, I can't help it! I think he was one of the most interesting players that Survivor has ever had... He played well, and like he said, he lasted MUCH longer than he thought he should've, considering the mutiny. LOL

Could you please post what Jonathan had to say on the Early Show for those of us who are at work and can't watch it? Thanks!

:listen:

I can see Adam and Sundra in the final 2 after they stupidly voted off Jonathan last night! :sad2:

I've watched every version of Survivor and it never ceases to amaze me that the player continue to make the same mistakes every time. There is always one opportunity for the players to eliminate the strongest competitor and they never fail to pass it up. It always come back to haunt them. do they never learn?

I'm afraid Adam will end up winning this thing and he's the most disagreeble person since Johnny Fiarplay and Rahb. If I see him wink and smirk at Candace one more time, I'm going to puke.

Would someone recap the Early Show interview? I forgot about it and I'm dying to know!!!

TIA!!

I'm glad you guys found this, I couldn't the other day when I started the other thread, sorry.

I know what you mean about Adam, there are just some guys that just think they are too hot, and play up their charm to the extent it makes you sick. I don't think he has a chance, but you never know, looks like Yul and his partner may switch it up according to the trailer they showed at the end.

Whew did Johnathon screw up. Talking about playing the opposite of under the radar, what was his strategy "make everyone hate you to the point they all call you the biggest rat in survivor history"? Yeah thats the way to play.

You can't play the game that ruthless in my opinion, I mean some of the other ruthless players in Survivor history at least did not make everyone else HATE them, not counting Johnny Rotten, but then again he didn't get very close to winning either. You have to stay likable, fly somewhat under the radar, and be clever in alliances, you don't stab EVERY other player in the back. Granted you may have to stab a few, but not EVERY other player like Johnathon did. Way to go dude.

I found this transcript of Jonathan on the Early Show on survivorfever.net:

Jonathan Penner:
Early Show Interview Transcript
(Transcript by James Barber - 12.08.06)

RENE : On "Survivor: Cook Islands", Jonathan was determined to stay in the game, even if it meant betraying everyone else. On Thursday, it finally caught up with him at Tribal Council.

(clips)

RENE : Jonathan Penner, good morning.

JONATHAN : Good morning.

RENE : Did you get your hat back? Cause your last words were, "I want my hat back."

JONATHAN : Yes. "I'd like to have my hat back." I got it back. Thank you.

RENE (laughs): What was it like to be at Tribal Council last night, and everybody was saying, "He doesn't deserve to be here"? There was so much venom, particularly from Adam.

JONATHAN : Adam was saying it, and I think he was playing an emotional game as opposed to a rational game, and he was saying whatever he had to say to get the vote to go away from him, and to his credit, it did.

RENE : Wait, playing a rational game means flip-flopping? You flip-flopped more than a fish in a frying pan. It was an art form with you.

JONATHAN : Thank you, and I would have done it again. I think I was voted out because the Aitu 4 realized if I stayed in the game I would have tried anything possible to keep moving forward. They saw me as a threat. Maybe a distraction, maybe an annoyance, I don't know.

RENE : It seemed like the only person who liked you out there was your wife. She was there last night because of the reward challenge, she was out there. Was it difficult - there she is, she looks so afraid and you were so happy to see her. She really tried like heck to win that reward challenge.

JONATHAN : Yeah, she felt so bad that we didn't win. She would have done anything.

RENE : Yeah, but so you lose the reward challenge and you end up spending another two nights at Exile Island, and I think - and I want to look at the Secret Scene and I want to ask you about that.

JONATHAN : Sure.

[(Jonathan on Exile Island)

JONATHAN (solo): Yeah, I have a target on my back. I mean I've been sent to Exile Island. People in camp may be deciding, "OK, Jonathan's gotta go." But if they're deciding that without me around, they'd probably decide that with me around.

(Jonathan makes a fire)

JONATHAN : I'd love to win immunity, but if my alliance is strong, immunity will not be necessary.]

RENE : You said it right there that you had a target on your back. When you got back to camp it seemed like the dynamic had shifted.

JONATHAN : Yeah, being away for two days, basically Parvati and Adam had been able to whack me with the stinky stick. Say anything. I wasn't there, I don't know what they said, but obviously they said a lot of stuff. The idea that he "deserved" to be out there, that there were six "good" people and one "bad" person, it's specious on the face of it...

RENE : But do you take any responsibility AT ALL for your actions out there...

JONATHAN : Of course.

RENE : ...and the flip-flopping, and sure, this game is about sure, outwit, outlast, outplay, but isn't there some loyalty involved at some point?

JONATHAN : I was loyal. I was loyal to Candice when I stepped off the mat the first time. She and I were in an alliance, I knew that Becky and Yul were an unbreakable twosome. Candice and I believed Adam had the immunity idol, cause we knew we didn't and Yul led us to believe or I allowed myself to believe he didn't have it. I knew in an end-game situation I was going to have to be aligned with the idol. I had no intention of mutinying, but Candice, my ally, stepped off, I knew Adam had the idol - stupidly, that was my mistake.

RENE : Right, because Yul has that, right.

JONATHAN : Yul had it. I saw the number shifting from 6-6 to 7-5 to 8-4 when I stepped off, and because I wanted to have some fun. I did step off the mat. I did it to be with Candice. I wouldn't have done it if she hadn't, but I take full responsibility for doing it.

RENE : Of course, she was here in the studio last week.

JONATHAN : Fair enough.

RENE : Talking about Yul. He said he was going to take you to final four, and he turns on you, right?

JONATHAN : I mean, he said that to everybody. I mean, fair enough, and I would have said the same thing. He said what he needed to say to cement his position in the game, he told everybody he wanted to take them to the final two. We'll see if he gets to the final two or not. People say and do what they need to say and do to stay in the game. I actually did something that took me out of the game pretty early. The fact that I was able to stick around for as long as I was after the mutiny was actually the most fun part of the game.

RENE : But you had a good time, playing the game.

JONATHAN : I loved it.

RENE : But you still have to work, cause you didn't win the million dollars.

JONATHAN : I still have to...I'd work anyway, I like to work.

RENE (laughs): Thanks, Jonathan.

I'm really, really torn on this one. At first, I thought Aitu had made a monumentally stupid move. Too soon to cut Jonathan loose! But the more I think of it - it's in Becky, Sundra, and Ozzy's best interests to get rid of Jonathan - Yul has already said that J would be the perfect person to take to final 2 (which is actually final 3 this year, but the contestants don't know that yet!).

I didn't hink Jonathan was going to win - he should have stayed longer than Adam and Parvati, just because I loathe those two (and I heard a rumor that Ozzy & Parvati hooked up after the show and it makes me just sick to think that my TV crush Ozzy fell for that fakey flirty routine she puts on. )

Anyway - I have been rooting for the abandoned Aitus since the mutiny, and I really hope all this talk of turning on each other doesn't pan out.

I know what you mean girls like Parvati that openly, and admitadly, use their sexuality to "play" people are the worst. People like that have a rude awakening later in life when all of a sudden they're fat and ugly. "Oh know, guys don't fall all over me anymore, what am I going to do?"

I have always liked Jonathan. He was playing the same game everyone else was just not as quietly, lol.

Thanks, Amy, for the transcript. As usual, there was more to Jonathan's actions than the (edited) show revealed! Very interesting!!

Did any of you watch Jonathan on Survivor Live? Was it any good?

I don't watch that show because I can't abide Jenna Morasca. I hate how she played her game by sliding under the radar (and that whole idiocy with the stripping for peanut butter *gag*) and then to hear her criticize other players.... :sad2:

I watched it. I watch it every week because I love to hear what the people have to say. You can also watch it on the Survivor site if you miss it. He wasnt mad about anything Adam or Candice said about him or to him. He seems like a really nice guy. Of course I always liked him.

I liked Jonathan. He was real, whether you liked him or not, he was real.

I find that Ozzy is quite cunning. He puts some radical idea out there and gets Yul to own it and carry the ball for him. Very sly. The immunity challenge was made for Ozzy. You could see how worried Sundra was as Jeff was explaining the challenge.

Adam is such a lazy coward. He is very pathetic, unintellectual individual. He mades me sickly.

Yul will not be able to take Becky, Ozzy or Pav to the final two, because he will not be able to win the votes. Yul has a big problem now. He has Ozzy who is more competitive; Pav and Adam who are not very athletic but sneaky and Sundra who is not very bright nor athletic. Becky is smart, she hasn't pissed anyone off, but Yul could get the (I've done more than she has) vote.

I am disappointed in this game after the last tribal council. The game got lame.

Also, is this going to be the stupidest jury ever? They look pathetic over there.

I was suprised at who got voted off tonight.

I was also disappointed in Yul's actions one time tonight.

So glad those spoilers about who was going to win were wrong!
