Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

We are debating taking a cab to Hollywood Studios from Old Key West or renting a car. Does anyone know how much it would be for a taxi? I have tried to google it, but the calculators I find don't "find" Old Key West, lol.

Probably close to $15. We took a cab from Dolphin to POFQ and it was around that price... with tip.

Well that's not bad at all! We would only need it for Fri and Sat and maybe Monday. We have a dining reservation at HS at 8:25 on Monday.

You have to be at the entrance by 7:30 at the latest... you'll see the masses heading toward the Indiana Jones Theatre, that's where you sign up, remember that the child had to be with you. I know busses start around 7am, if I'm not mistaken. If you have the possibility to drive over that would be better

Is this correct, the sign up is at the Indiana Jones Theater? It's been 3 years since we've been there and that is not where the sign up was before. I just want to be sure we are headed to the right place! Thanks!

nobody really knows how fast pass plus is going to impact jedi training academy on star wars weekends. I wonder how it impacts it now during regular days. In the past, there were always a big portion of guests who just happened to be there on a star wars weekend because it was during their vacation, and they were going to toy story mania, or even rock n roller coaster / tower of terror. But it seemed like most were going to jta on star wars weekends, because they tended to open earlier than announced. Now if people already have a fast pass for toy story in their pocket, they may be more tempted to make the padawan dash. But who knows.

yes on star wars weekends the sign up is in the queue for indiana jones. There will be a swarm of people and you will be directed there. You won't miss it.

Finally caught up - with school and work, have missed everything since page 16.

1) AS a 501st member - Thanks for all the love for our organization and our sister group the Rebel Legion. We love doing what we do, and we love seeing people enjoy it as much as we enjoy doing it.

2) Quick responses: @ Reizo - What costume did you do? I would love to see pics of it. I might be able to give you some tips on getting it approved.

Haha, I believe I posted a pic somewhere but to be considered I'd like to do the costume over again anyway with a little more authenticity once I have some time too with catching up with school and work lol. But hey, PM me as I'd love some tips either way! :thumbsup2

I made Anakin Skywalker's garb from Episode II and will be sporting it this year on the first Friday of Star Wars Weekends. Oh and I will say that I was able to meet a big group of the 501st at MegaCon in Orlando who were all involved in this wedding proposal that occurred when I walked up. Much respect and admiration here. :goodvibes

It's funny because tonight my DW and I met with our group, those whom are going with us during our Star Wars weekend trip, for dinner and while there we were discussing the plans with them and I can't say how exciting it is knowing that it's just a month and a few weeks away!

@Sunrise - How goes the costume build and approval process? I did not see anything posted about you being approved yet.

 YEAH for catching up... glad things are going good for you at work and school!

Not sure if you saw my post, I can't march in the motorcade, Disney put Mara Jade on the taboo list.

Everything is going great... I anticipate submitting Mara Jade for her SL number by April 26th if not sooner.

Since I knew I couldn't march in the motorcade I told everyone helping me to slow their pace too.... quality first and foremost now... But it's nearly finished...

PS... another secret, my boyfriend you met last year has ordered up the items he needs for a Darth Revan 501st costume... I got him addicted too. We have been to a few events already acting has "Handlers/Helpers" and an Armor Party... we love everyone in the 501st we have come in contact with and I think that really tipped the scales for him. For choice of costume my boyfriend's big thing was he wanted to really BECOME that character, and didn't want his face showing so people/kids would see his Character and not him. Myself, I am already planning my next costume, a "non-face" cannon one so I can march in the motorcade next year in case the put Mara Jade back on the taboo list again in 2015.

I will be shooting that PM soon. Today totally got away from me with work. Ugh. What a day. Glad to hear. Anakin is tough to get exactly right, as there are lots of details, including some face makeup and the scar, but very workable.

I would so laugh if you got your approval on April 20 (my approval anniversary date). Yeah, I found out about Mara a couple weeks ago, or was it just a week or two ago? Anyway, they are tightening up on the EU characters and seem to want to have recognizable characters in the parade. You can do an officer which is still a face character and can march.

Glad to hear about the boyfriend's costume. It is great to be able to share the hobby. As I said before, going out and wrangling (that's what we call it) is great way to meet everyone and know the workings before going out in costume.

Haven't purchased it yet so not sure.

I know the people from TP personally and they do make an effort to make the best plans, but, as in anything, you can't rely 100% on them. There are plenty of things that can happen that would make you change your plans at any moment.
I could give you a guideline on what to do and when depending on your families interests...remember you can't doo everything SWW has to offer in 1 day and no TP will ever tell you that.
But if your interested in purchasing the subsrciption to look at other TP and for their lines app and such then I say go for it.
In any case plenty of people here have a lo of experience with this event and can help you

Anyone ever used the touring plans Star Wars weekend plan?

I never used a tp for sww.

I do subscribe to Touring Plans because I like their lines app. However, since the mde app I haven't used tp very often. And I use their crowd calendar. However, I've never used their touring plans. There are often codes for discounts.

I also subscribe to ktp's character locater app. It was in beta testing last year at sww, and it's come a long way. I used it for mnsshp and mvmcp. I'm sure I'll use it for sww too.

Just in case anyone is trying for a BOG lunch fastpass it looks like they opened up today for the first Star Wars weekend I was able to get one for the 15th of may this morning just passing on the info

Does anyone know if you can use Tables in Wonderland discount with SWW character dinner at HW & V. I forgot to ask but the thought of hanging on the phone for another 45 minutes leaves me cold...lol

No, there's no type of discount allowed :(.
This is straight from the HUB
Q8) Will you offer a DVC/AP/Tables in Wonderland/Cast Member discount at either offering?
There is not a discount associated with Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dine at Hollywood & Vine or the “Star Wars” Dine-In Galactic Breakfast! at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant.
