Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

Thanks for the update on the D-Tech, been searching around like crazy for weeks trying to find information for this year. This is the one thing I really want to get and it's nice that I won't have to carry it around the park since it's shipped weeks after :)

No, there's no type of discount allowed :(.
This is straight from the HUB
Q8) Will you offer a DVC/AP/Tables in Wonderland/Cast Member discount at either offering?
There is not a discount associated with Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dine at Hollywood & Vine or the “Star Wars” Dine-In Galactic Breakfast! at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant.

I have to say that this is very disappointing. TiW is valid at other character dining experiences, even those that are 2 credits.

But thank you yulilin for the news now, because I'm sure I would be even more upset if I didn't find out until I was paying.

For the good news, my nephew now knows about his birthday surprise trip to SWW, so he's having fun picking his magic band color and getting involved in some of the planning. :woohoo: I can't believe how quickly the time is flying. I'm going to blink and we'll be there.

Brilliant news, I am going to have to book myself to be frozen in carbonite, a stormtrooper and an x-wing pilot!!

How do you book this? Do you call dining reservations or is there another number for stuff like this?

I'd like to know how to book this as well.

Here's the number from last year. I would imagine it's the same process this year.

For those of you doing D-Tech, which version will you choose? I was sure I wanted the stormtrooper, but now that X-wing pilot and Leia are options, I'm not sure. I'll probably wait to see what they look like - hopefully they'll have prototypes. I'd love to get more than one version, but I don't know if I want to spend that much money!

:cool1: I'm sure he'll have an awesome time. Having him be part of the planning is a good idea.

Yep that's the number, all the details are a few pages back.

Received a call from Disney dining today telling me that since I booked the Hollywood and vine prior to there raising the DDP credits, it would be going back to one TS credit. Just thought I'd share.

I'm very exited about our trip in June. I booked last week. We'll hit HS on a Friday (6/6). I haven't been to Disney since '09. I did do SWW on our '06 trip and found it wasn't bad at all. The only lines back then that were crazy were the lines for Chewbaca & Jedi Mickey. I didn't do Chewbaca but did go Jedi Mickey. Line for Vader was very small as was the line for the Emperor.

That '06 trip was just DW and myself. This time around we'll have the 3 kids and my FIL.

I was unable to get a reservation at Si-Fi breakfast or lunch or H&V for dinner. We do have a ressi for H&V for breakfast (My DD is a HUGE Doc McStuffins fan and we had to make sure she see's her). Our time is 10:10 am. I may have to eat quick and hopefully Doc comes to our table early so that me and my boys can see the Parade at 11. Thats going to be way to close for comfort for me.

Here are a few pics from '06....

2 questions -
Has anyone heard if they're doing FP+ for this? I don't see anything when searching around the website.
If not, I'll probably try to see them from Echo Lake - Is the music piped out "that far" in the park?

Good to know, thanks for reporting back

I'm thinking you're talking about the fireworks...No fp+ has been announced for any of the SWW events. I usually watch from Echo Lake and the music is piped in there, all around Echo Lake up to Star Tours. Haven't checked other areas

We will be at Disney May 16-21. We can only do HS one day and want to be there for SWW. Which day will be better crowd wise- Saturday, the 17th or Sunday, the 18th?

I have signed up for Rebel Rendezvous merchandise event on May 15 and have ordered the special orange nametags. I like that we pre-order and receive them before that Thursday event.

But what is the procedure to obtain the regular SWW nametags as well as the passholder SWW nametags? What has been the colors of the nametags in the past? Are they also ordered at Darth's Mall? Is there a special line? How long does it take to make them?

Thanks for information! :goodvibes

Is it wrong that I kinda really want to get myself done as an Alderaan princess with the D-Tech thing. Just for the fun of my face on Princess Leia lol. I'll probably end up doing a stormtrooper

A friend who went three years ago said Darth's Mall. But he wasn't the one standing in line then, so he didn't know the exact procedure. He promised to ask the guy who picked them up. I'll post more when I hear back.

How do you dial that from outside of the US???

From Germany it's 001 before the number. I can get the ringing tone fine, so I assume it's no special service number.

In the past there was a separate line. You pick up an order form, fill out your info. Get in the line to purchase name tags and pre-pay. You'll be told a return time to pick it up. When it's your turn you get back into the purchase line and show your receipt when it's your turn. You'll be handed your name tags.

Both will be about the same. Usually the better (not a huge difference either) is Friday because locals are working/at school

In addition to what LOVETHATTINK said, the regular nametags are blue, the passholder ones are black. The first year the line for it wasn't that bad, I waited maybe an hour to get the nametag. But as it became more popular the wait times for them grew. After you make your selection I think the were telling people to come back in about 4 to 5 hours...you don't have to wait inside Darth Maul for them and you can also pick them up at the end of the day.

That would be funny!!...I wonder if the person at D-Tech would have an issue with that sort of scenario :confused3:rotfl:

Going to DHS today, I'll ask the people at JTA if sign ups will be again at the Indy Theater (I usually ask this question about a month before SWW and the CM there have no clue) and I'll go over to the Premiere Theater and see if it's open (I think they're doing Magic Music Days) go inside and peek to see if the fp+ podium is still there. Not much else I can do, but I'll ask around about SWW in general.
BTW summer has hit Orlando, it'll be 90 degrees today :scared1:

Whoa, 90 degrees! That sounds like a huge shock from the extended winter we have been having in New England. I say bring on the sundresses!

:cool1: So I have been following along this whole thread and am getting more excited by the day. We will be there the second weekend, through Memorial Day. I posted many pages ago that we are providing merch for the Darth Mall. This has been one of the most thrilling things happen to us! :) Sending out the product to Disney this week, and I'm going to take a wild guess that there will be a regular merch announcement soon! In which case I can reveal what we are selling.

We are going to be there with 2 other couples- who are all droid builders/501st members/cosplay mavens. Hopefully we can pull off Disneybounding the Star Wars crew (r2, c3po, han, chewie, luke, leia) So if there is a meetup happening that week I'd love to meet some of you!
