Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

BTW, I had booked a RO at CSR and had been looking at getting tickets on and off for a while. I would have probably just added tickets when I got there. Eventually I decided to make my RO ressie a package adding tickets - For some reason it's a few dollars cheaper than getting tickets separately - no clue. Also, the fact that I could not do FP+ reservations unless I had tickets linked.

But, when I tried to the CM couldn't do it (I knew only GS could do that) and either she couldn't get a hold of someone or who knows. In the end, I booked a new package and then canceled the RO - good thing there was still availability!

Also, called last minute and was able to get a spot for the character's breakfast - not interested much in Mickey dressed up, but more with actual SW characters so this will be nice, specially Darth Vader!

This will be our second time. First time was in 2003 when my older son was just shy of 3 yrs old and we went to WDW before his 3rd birthday so we could avoid the extra ticket. No clue it was SWW when we went to MGM Studios (back then)!

BTW - this past Xmas (on Xmas day, during eve EMH), we rode ST about 3 times in a row and we hit the SAME EXACT SEQUENCE the first two times. The 3rd time, the first two scenes were the same and we thought it something was wrong with the system. What are the chances...

Very exited!

Dg and grandsons rode 5 times in December and got the same sequence 4 of the 5 times. They were really disappointed.

Does anyone know if the photos taken at the SWW character meals are included in the memory maker?

I'm assuming that these character meals are going to like all the other Disney character meals where the characters come around to the table and you can take a picture with each of them. Correct?

Questions about the photo that comes with the meal: is that like at the Princess breakfast in Norway- where you enter the building and take a picture with Belle and then you are seated for your meal? Do you think one of the SW characters will be there as we enter and the rest will visit our table?

Not sure if Memory maker is worth the price if I can take photos of all the characters with my own camera.

TIA

At Hollywood & Vine, it's Chip and Dale with your family for the digital download,

At Sci-Fi, it is to be Darth Vader and your family before you are seated for your meal. That makes sense because it is difficult for Vader to see the little ones especially in a darkened restaurant.

Disney Food blog says the downloads will be on a commemorative Photopass card.

The "Fastpasses" for celebrity autographs aren't like traditional FPs and really shouldn't be thought of as such. They're more like admission tickets for an autograph with the designated celebrities. Don't confuse them with either traditional FPs or FP+s.

Love all the planning on this thread! We went for the first time last year and loved it! Wish we were going again this year. I never knew there was a character breakfast at Sci Fi. Something I'll have to check into next time we visit.

This is the first year they have done a character meal. It will be interesting to see if it becomes a regular event. Personally, I would like to see them do a SW character meal year round.

So just because I figure all of you will understand my "Crazy"... I'm so excited for our first SWW it is ridiculous... we have booked the dinner at H&V ... outfit ordered from Etsy for DD3... shirt ordered for me... autograph book created ... I keep pouring over my plans ... looking to make some change just because I am tired of waiting! So happy that tomorrow is April... that means May is just a month away!!

Anyway... just sharing my morning excitement! :-)

I was that way last year for my first SWW too. I am trying not to be this year, but once that celebrity list hits it's ON! :lmao:

We are less than 60 days away.... can't wait!

I hope it all works out for you for Friday!

I've been saying this is our 10th SWW, but actually this will be the 11th. We stumbled upon it in 2004. My youngest was weeks old. I have a picture of me holding him inside the Back Lot Restaurant. I had been waiting for dh and ds, who had been doing either JTA or PMC. I was able to catch glimpses of him on he stage.

awwwww :) wow and here I am only on my 2nd, and I am already planning next year which will be my 3rd SWW... Not sure how long my streak will last :)

So the characters will not be wandering around during the meal?:confused3

We're staying at Beach Club when we go for Star Wars weekend. What's the fastest way to get to DHS - would it be the boat? I know we could walk too, but we're definitely not going to do that. If we want to be there at 7:15am, what time should we leave Beach Club?

Autumslight, there is a pathway that runs between the boardwalk Villas and the Swan and Dolphin resort, take that path, it's about a 15/20 minute walk tops from the Beach Club to DHS for gate. So if you leave your hotel no later than 7 you should get to DSH by 7:15/7:20 without any issues using the path.

My boyfriend and I are staying at the Boardwalk Inn and will be using this very same path ourselves. We used it last year when we stayed at the Swan, and it worked awesome...

We are the crazy folks that got /get in line at 4/5 am in the morning for those celebrity FPs :)

I am betting they have Vader do a photo op picture with your family THEN all the other characters walk around to greet you at the tables.

This is how they have done it for Cinderella's Royal table, Cindy did a main photo op with you then you got pictures with each of the princess walking around to your tables.

Little Secret: I have learned since getting involved with the 501st Vader's outfit has VERY limited visibility. So even in good light he normally will have someone near him to make sure he doesn't bump into people and run over things directly under toe. So it is not surprising at all that they use him as a main photo op like they do with Cinderella.

Thank you, Sunrise :)

Now a transportation question. On a Thursday (right before SWW), we plan to spend at least the morning at Blizzard Beach. I'd like to go right from there to DHS to ride some rides without the insane SWW crowds, which we will be facing the next day. (already have FP+s for HS for Thurs afternoon as well as Friday during SWW).

What's the best way to get from BB to DHS? Walking? Bus? Taxi? Is there even a direct bus from BB to DHS?

No direct bus, you need to take a resort bus and from there take a bus to DHS. You could bus to Boardwalk and walk from there to DHS.
A taxi will be the fastest and most convenient

Taxi it will be then! Thanks!

I figure the other characters will move around but Vader would have difficulty doing so. He's sort of the main attraction like Cinderella would be at CRT. So it makes sense.

This is much better than I thought it would be. Great news indeed! Hopefully, they'll decorate the photo op area with nice backgrounds.

We will be going on a Friday of SWW and hope to get the boys signed up for JTA. What time do we need to arrive at the DHS? Will taking the first bus available from AKL be good enough?
