Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

Has anyone heard if they are going to bring back carbonite feeze me or make me a storm trooper....

We picked carbonite last year and wanna get a storm trooper this time out if they have it!

Oh you know I love that :P

(I am about to tell a little secret... I have been working really hard on a new Mara Jade costume... It is my hope to get it approved by the 501st and become a full fledged member in time to march during this years SWW... Wish me luck!)

Shew.... I am finally caught up. I have been staying away from the boards for a while cause I found the lack of announcements for celebrities disturbing :confused3

I see that we have a host announced, that's good, James is a kewl guy, loved his show last year.

I know Yulilin and a few of us kicked around a SWW Disboards meeting a few times during the SWWs.... I didn't see anything new on the subject while catching up, but then again we have no idea of schedule yet either... and with Disney shaking things up (proof of this is canceling Hoopla :sad2:) there is not telling if we can even guestimate a schedule like in the past, let alone plan around it.

BUT is there still an interest in a meeting of the disboards SWW fans?!

It would be so cool to see you march, keep us posted on that.
I feel the same way about the schedule, not sure how much Disney is changing things up. I was talking with my DD13 about where and when to meet and we were thinking maybe after the parade, we usually grab lunch right after and avoid the masses that come after 12, so we could meet at ABC Commisary or Backlot Express after the parade? Or meet before the parade and watch it together? I think those are the 2 best options
No word on Carbon Freeze Me

We will be there the 31st of May. I would love to hang with some people to watch the parade. We were unsure of it when we went in 2011, and I ended almost didn't get a seat.

Thank You Reizo, when I finally get approved I will be sure to let everyone know if I get to March in the Motorcade or not :) We are only going for weekend 3 this year, so I am hoping I will get a spot.

:scratchin So will I need to consider going the 3rd weekend as well? I'm going the first weekend with a big group all dressed up. Thinking of going the next weekend for the 24hr party too. Well I live 2 hours away so that helps. :thumbsup2

A Meet & Greet would be cool and I'm looking forward for the make me a stormtrooper announcement as well. Was just discussing it with my Dad a few days ago.

Meeting up: IF I am marching I can't meet before, but then again I am not sure how many of the three days I would march... Soooo. I will play it by ear there :) My boyfriend who took all those great pictures last year is going to be looking for a prime spot to photograph the motorcade so he'll be out there even if I am not.

Freeze Me: Darn it... was hoping they'd have a clue on that one, you have to register for it ahead of time so I hope they announce it soon!

MJ/501st/motorcade: Thanks gang, really nervous about getting this done.... going to a gathering tomorrow where we are all going to help each other with our 501st costumes and hang out... I am super excited about it

Oh my... I know if we lived down there we would be there every weekend... Heck I know I am from out of state but I can't imagine not living in FL without a annual pass :)

For all of you SWW veterans, how early would you get on line to meet a celebrity like Ray Park? This is our first SWW, we are coming from Canada and my son is a HUGE Star Wars fan :) I just want to be really well organized, because this will probably our only time!

Thank you :)

Ray Park is one of the more popular celebs, depending on the number of autograph sessions you might need to get there before 5am to make sure you get a fastpass

Just booked our trip to attend the first weekend this year, this will also be our first year attending SWW. Boyfriend & I are super psyched to get more details about guests etc. so we know what to pack with us for autographs :)

I'm hoping they do D-Tech Me again, really want a storm trooper figure! Bummed that the Aurebesh nametags seem to be only for those attending the RR.

I'm almost positive the name tags will be back. They'll be different colors, more than likely than the event ones. For example, passholder ones were different from non-passholder tags.

Call me crazy or an overthinker, but does anyone else have a problem with Donald being Han Solo and Minnie being Leia in the "Escape from the Death Star" figurine set? I mean I guess it's an alternate universe thing, so of course Mickey and Minnie being brother and sister would make more sense? IDK, I was just looking at it and it struck me as odd. Also, I haven't slept yet so my brain is also completely gone at the moment. Sooooooo yeah.

For characters you'll be fine by being at the entrance around 7:15 to 7:30am. Remember that depending on characters some lines are larger and in direct sun all day so plan accordingly. On the first post of this thread there's a linl to Kenny's site with the times and locations from last years SWW.
If I wanted to meet as many characters as possible I would do:
1.- Disney characters in SW costumes
2.- Chewbacca
3.-Darth Vader
4.-Darth Maul
5.- The Fetts
6.- Luke, Leia, R2D2 and C3P0
7.- Clone Wars characters
8.- Queen Amidala
9.- roaming characters

We plan on getting to the Park an hour early for the first day of SWW and heading straight to JTA. We would like to get in line for one of the Fetts right after that. do you have an idea how long the wait would be since we can not head there first? Should we split up and then join my DH in line for one of the Fetts after we get done with sign up at JTA? is that allowed?

is joining lines allowed? i think it is like a unwritten rule, people do it but its kinda frowned on. i've seen some crazy situations from this line cutting, yes when you ad to the number of people in front of someone else its line cutting. ive seen two men get into a physical shoving match and Both were escorted out of the park. so its a big gamble to take that only you can make. leaving the line for restroom and coming back, you cant help. you join your family in front of me i'll ask you nicely to respect the time everybody behind you has put into the line and see that they enter the experience before you.:thumbsup2

It's funny that you said this because I have been thinking it for years! Every time I see figurines or posters of Mickey as Luke and Minnie as Leia, I have to question - WHAT? I agree, if Minnie is going to be Leia, Mickey should be Han. But hey, like Mickey would ever be cast as anyone but the central character. And Minnie step down as the central female lead - no way! Apparently a few questioning glances is okay for mice.

I am starting to get super excited. I booked my room the other day and am still working on getting my vacation approved, but thats a minor thing I will deal with that when I get to it :thumbsup2 Last year was my first SWW and I instantly fell in love with it. I am hoping to bring my non Star Wars loving grumpy teenager with me and maybe change her mind about a few things but thats a battle not yet written :lmao:

I think in instances where the number of people going to meet the character, get autographs, etc. doesn't change, it shouldn't be/isn't an issue. If I'm standing in line and my DH and DS join me, it's still only one person (DS) going to meet the character, so no different if it were me or him. If I had another family come join me, and they wanted their own time with the character and their own picture, I could totally understand people being upset. But I can't understand why it would be an issue if someone holding a spot doesn't change anyone else's place in line, it's really not "cutting". Especially in some of the lines at SWW that are in the direct sun, I'd much prefer my DH wait with my two very pale sons (including a newborn) in a shaded area and join us when I'm getting close!

Are Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto by the hat for meeting? I checked KtP's site but it doesn't have their location noted. Here's our plan for when we arrive... at RD go directly to wait for the above characters - see whichever comes out first... then go to Chewbacca then Ewok Chip & Dale... after that anything would be a bonus! Think we can accomplish those characters before the parade?

This was the order that I was thinking of doing as well - glad to hear from others that this is a good running order :)
