Official Star Wars Weekends 2013 Tips and Tricks

All 3 days will be crowded no matter what. Just go when it works best for your family. We also need to know who the celebs will be each weekend as that sometimes has an extra impact.

As for needing at least a half day at DHS to do non-SWW stuff, it depends on how much "stuff" you are trying to do and how dedicated you are to just doing SW "stuff" over the weekend.

Generally we spend at 2-3 partial days at SWW (6-7 hours each day) but we do throw in a non SWW activity every so often just to get out of the blazing sun.

Are all the parts the same? Or are there special stuff for SWW...Was also thinking about letting him make a droid...again same parts everywhere or different?...

And can anyone tell me approx. price?

There weren't any special parts last year for either the lightsabers or droids that were specific to SWW. In fact, last year they began to run out of hats for the droids.

FYI - last year the Darth Mall tent did not carry all the parts that Tatooine traders did. My son made one at each and he immediately noticed the difference.

We're going to DHS on Friday May 24. Originally I wanted to go on the non-SWW day, Thursday. But because it closes so early (no idea why!! :confused3) and because we want to see Fantasmic, we decided to give SWW a try! Not sure which day would be less crowded. I was under the same assumption as you and just assumed Friday being a weekday would be less crowded.

It's closing early on Thursday because a conference has it booked that night for its opening ceremony

Just noticed June hours have updated...June 8 and 9th now open 8-10 with a 10:30 fantasmic...(along with the 9)...

I think May already changed there hours...

We are also going that Friday and that is our only scheduled DHS day right now. This is our first SWW so while we do have plans to try to do some regular DHS stuff and some SWW stuff it will probably be a learning experience for future SWW.

Whoa, I read 48 pages and am now rethinking our trip in October! Wish we could squeeze in a SWW now! Might be possible but we shall see....

We are also members of the 501st (recent, still working on getting our armor) My husband is a droid builder. We're friends with Chris of Full Scale Falcon, AND we have recently been Lucasfilm licensed. So you can say that we eat sleep breathe Star Wars. If we can get our product in the Darth Mall we may just be able to justify a trip this spring! :yay:

Prioritize what you want to do and try not to squeeze to many things in your day and you'll have a more enjoybale experience. Be realistic with what you and your family want and can do. And remember to drink plenty of water :goodvibes

It would be great if you could squeeze in SWW.

What is your product?

Last year was our first Celebration, but we have been going to SWW for many years. At SWW last year, when I asked what the difference was between SWW and a Celebration was; I was told that a Celebration was like SWW on steroids.

I could see that being true! I kind of wonder if my kids would even be phased by SWW when they had a plethora of SW characters to meet and shake hands with at CVI! My 3 year old was obsessed with Troopers which I think influenced us to get armor of our own. R2D2 is like a brother to them. So maybe it would be old hat! :rotfl:

You can see our product at www dot fanwraps dot net They just launched last weekend!

This will be our first visit to SWW, and we are so excited! This thread has been so helpful to us first timers-thank you so much for all of your knowledge and tips! :thumbsup2
The one thing we will be determined to get are the special event pins-we like to collect pins and always collect them during them "special events" that we attend. My question is, will these be available at most of the HS stores, or will the only be available at Darth's Mall? Will we need to wait in the "limited edition merchandise line"? Will there still be a good selection of them by the 3rd weekend?:confused3

Not a pin collector but it really depends on the size of each one. There's usually an event pin that doesn't sell out, then there are the pin boxed sets, special lanyards, etc. Nothing has been released about the pins or for that manner any merchandise, I think they release a number of the special pins each weekend so there should be some available by weekend three but it's really hard to predict.
Here are the pins and pin sets that are available on Ebay so you can get an idea about LE merchandise. I know that last years Darth Donald was still available the last weekend and I bought the Chewie lanyard and Bandolier during weekend 3 (it was the last one on the table). Hope this helps: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trk...ar+wars+weekends+2012+pins&_sacat=0&_from=R40

You are going to have to keep us posted on what your product is that you just got licensed! Even if you don't get it in time for SWW still would love to check it out.

I have been thinking more and more about joining the 501 myself, and I already support and bought one for the t-shirts from full scale falcon I just love what Chris and his team are doing! (I'll be wearing my T-shirt on one of the SWW days too :) )

Not official but I think this might be this years logo, 30th anniversary of ROTJ makes sense

Oh I am waiting with baited breath to see if it is! That would be kewl, would love to see them bring ROTJ cast to the party if it is! I have visions of thousands of ewoks running everywhere through DHS :lmao: and lovin' it!

Check out this vid for new products, pay particular attention (right after they start speaking of the 30th anniversary of ROTJ) to the line items being released late this spring, seems to support the idea of this year's possible SWW theme :)

Cool video, it seems that Bean Bunny and Chicken as Wicket and stormtrooper are the new ones. I've seen the chip and dale as Ewoks and Mickey as Luke already in the parks.
I hope everyone has started saving their money :scratchin
