Official Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend - The Dark Side 2017

Does anyone NOT run in costume for dark side? My first Disney run was W&D last year and didn't dress up but didn't feel that as a problem. This time it seems everyone is wearing a costume! I can't imagine anything worse, and when I run, I want to wear the least, most lightweight clothing and nothing more!

I'll be the one not in costume!! :'D

I'm not wearing a costume. :) However, I think I may 'Disney Bound' as Kylo Ren for the half (with normal running clothes, which are pretty much just black). :)

That's the "loose" (LOL) plan. We've been so many times over the last 5 or so years (and were just there in September) so I usually go all out making a spreadsheet and planning everything out, just to end up dropping it and winging it once we get there. We have some "unconventional" fastpasses, you could say, but our goal this trip was to try to do a lot of attractions that we usually skip or haven't done in a few trips. We are also trying to hit a lot of ADRs that we have either never done or switching what meals we are going for. Can't believe we're less than 2 weeks out!

I wear a sparkle shirt and a tank top. My tank top is usually themed for the race but far from a costume.

Yeah, 'costume' is a loose term. Most of the time 'dressing up' for the race is just getting in a themed (not race) character shirt, or the color scheme of a character. Part of the fun for us is figuring out an outfit. I love seeing what people come up with, especially the mash-ups.

You won't be alone. DS and I are without costumes ourselves too. However, I think I'm doing what they call Disney bounding...that is to say wearing the colors within my running clothes that would represent one of the characters. So for my hat, shirt, and pants etc, I have the colors grey, black, white, and orange. Any ideas??

Another in the no costume club.

I'm not averse to wearing one, but I don't have anywhere close to the requisite talent to make one and didn't really feel like buying one. I've run in an Eeyore onesie at WDW Marathon Weekend, but it is insanely hot in good conditions and the weather will probably be quite warm to begin with during these races. So just running clothes this time around.

I'll probably just wear a UA Darth Vader shirt for the 10k and normal running clothes for the half.

Here's my outfits in order of 5k, 10k, Half - so not costumes just tanks & skorts! I have hair accessories for each too as it's like the one time I put fancier clips in. I'll also have compression leg sleeves on cause of my shins. If you see me, say hi!

I have never done a costume but thought it might be fun this time to try. So my 10k is a mashup, mostly of a tutu skirt and themed shirt. The half I really don't want anything on me cause who wants to run that far with stuff, so just a themed shirt if I can decide on one. I am either thinking the Star Wars "lack of sparkle disturbing" empire logo, a "I thought this was the darkside of the moon" pink floyd shirt with the Death Star (one I am leaning towards), or some kind of storm trooper.

Sunday
Half marathon.
Shower, relax for a little bit.
Hollywood Studios 1pm-close.
FP: Tower of Terror, Toy Story Mania, Star Tours.
ADR: Star Wars Galactic Nights Dessert Party.

We are having dessert together! I was thinking what better way to end Star Wars weekend then Star Wars food and fireworks. I will see you there. I might be the half asleep looking person.

Woohoo Awesome! My brother painted it for me, Jabba's tail wraps around the back even. It's funny I've had that tank for awhile and finally had a character to match it.

Can't believe this is the last full training week!

If you won't be acclimated, what HOPE do us up North have, haha!
LOL, good point! But I'm looking to get acclimated to what's coming after race weekend - when I'll routinely be running in heat indexes over 100. It's not that bad yet here, I promise!

What's everyone's trip plans?
A whole lot of nothing! It's been a really tough couple months, so I'm looking forward to lots of downtime between races.

Does anyone NOT run in costume for dark side?
I'm sort of doing a costume for the 5K, but it's made of regular running clothes. 10K is just a running tank and skirt with a lightsaber. Half is a "May the course be with you" tank and skirt. My #1 priority is to be comfortable!

ME to POR
Supper at DS

Thursday:
Rope drop at MK, hopefully meet up w friend
BOG late breakfast
