Official Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend - The Dark Side 2017

*Best Darth Maul voice* "At last we will reveal ourselves to runDisney. At last we will have our revenge."

What exactly we're avenging, I don't know. But it's a Star Wars quote adjusted to runDisney.
Well I know what I'll be avenging... a horrible princess weekend! Between getting sick just before I left, stopping for a lady that fell and probably broke her ankle in the 10k, and having gastrointestinal issues during the half I'm hoping for a MUCH better Star Wars weekend.

Sorry to hear that...hopefully all will be better for Star Wars weekend.

I might be jumping the gun here a little bit, but how should spectators handle getting to the race either start, finish, or both. I'm not sure how to direct DS's GF in getting around the morning of both the 10k and half. Especially if she wanted to see him off, and then catch him at the finish.

It is a good question, hopefully RD will have information out sooner rather than later with the new route. Spectators have been allowed to take race transportation to the start along with the runners, and from there I would say to get to the finish all they would have to do is walk to the TTC monorail (or nearest resort monorail station) and then take the EPCOT monorail to EPCOT for the finish.

Seems easy enough (famous last words).

I'd like to avenge last year's WWOS parking/bus fiasco! :crazy2::rotfl2:

Don't worry - rD will release course, transportation, and spectator info! Until then no one can say for sure.

Here's to hoping the pre-order is still open when my husband gets his bonus check next Friday!

Darn. I was kind of hoping for the little pouchette crossbody. I have a few letter carrier style already so I would probably only buy something different. Probably better this way!

Here's to a better experience during Darkside for you!

I thank you both for your well wishes. The weekend wasn't a complete bust, the 5k was awesome, since I got all the photo stops!

Slacker me finally bought my flights for the weekend. I've got to be better about buying them earlier when flights are cheaper! But either way I now have a way to get to Disney, which is just a little important, and Magical Express is all set up!

We still have to reserve a rental car and need to do that soon before prices spike.

I think they always have something for Earth Day at AK as my parents usually go this time, but another thing that will go on during our Darkside time--

"We also have some thrilling news for you today! While we love celebrating Earth Day on April 22, we will be partying for the planet all weekend this year! Join us at Disney’s Animal Kingdom April 21-23 for unique, inspiring and educational encounters throughout the park during Party for the Planet presented by Disneynature.

We’ll be sharing more specific details about these engaging in-park offerings as we get closer to this exciting weekend. Until then, we invite you to take a look back at last year’s Party for the Planet presented by Disneynature!"

Less than 8 weeks to go! How is everyone's training going?

Yesterday I finished a run streak for the month of February, where I ran at least a mile every day. Ended the month with 61 miles for the month, which I think might be my most ever in a month. Did 10 miles on Monday and beat my 10-miler PR by 5 minutes. I decided before the run that I wanted to keep my miles around 12 minutes so that I didn't burn out too quickly. I ended up having to do a lot of walking to keep my miles between 11:30 and 11:45 instead, so I'm pretty amazed that I could have done it even quicker. Feeling good about my upcoming spring races!

Awesome. I was waiting to see what they had planned for Earth Day this year. Glad it will be all weekend because I was planning on AK for Friday.

I'm torn, I'm kind of glad to have our AK day on Thursday (it's not going to change -- we've changed a billion things around as it is! :rolleyes1) but should we maybe think about hitting AK for a bit on Friday/Saturday? haha too many choices @MommaoffherRocker :rotfl2:

Does anyone know if ChEAR Sqaud member is locked into arriving 15 minutes before event and having to stay until their runner crosses, or can they sleep in a little and arrive closer to when all the runners are crossing the line to cheer everyone on? I just can't see dragging my DS's GF out of bed so early to just sit and wait while we are in the corrals (waiting too) and then running for a couple more hours. Not to mention if she does want to get up, that she'll be wanting to see him start and then make her way to the finish...somehow.

I've only bought my mom cheat squad for Princess before, which obviously has a different set up, but from what I remember, it is come or go as you please.
