Official Star Wars Half Marathon Thread...Jan 15-18th, 2015!!

Just in case this might help anyone, I registered for the Challenge today using the DVC link. I was surprised while registering there were no extras for pins or stuff that you could add on the registration as with past races.

My son, who has a DL AP and used that link, had the same problem - no pins offered during the race registration.

BUT on the DL AP registration page where he followed the link to the race registration, he saw separate links for the pins, for the Wookie thing, for the Cheer Squad.

He had to order each pin separately using a different link for the Challenge, the 1/2 and the 10K.

I wonder why they changed that.

So if any AP people are looking to preorder pins, try to find the specific links on the AP page.

Have been inputting info since 11:04. Every try results in: Attention! Registration limit check failed for desired events Does this mean it's already sold out????

From what someone else posted is yes AP spots are sold out

Sorry you all are out for this one (but you certainly made the right decision, in my opinion).

I wanted to thank you, though, for the post you did before you posted that you would not be attending. It was the first thing I read this morning, after still being on the fence about participating. And reading your post helped me decide that, for me, this is probably the best time to do this race weekend (as opposed to waiting for a future year). So, thank you

Yeah, I've been having talks with my kids about "sometimes you have to make decisions you don't want to in life", well this was one of them! See you 2016! Good luck everyone in the race!

My friend is registered for the 10K and I for the Rebel Challenge - probably nuts since I have radiation and possibly chemo ahead of me for the next several months but I can always defer - and I need a goal!

I’m not sure the DVC was included for the 5K early registration.

On my Rebel Challenge it says AP/DVC and on the 5K it says AP.

Its already sold out. I tried registering and got a glitch when I went to sign up. Gonna have to wait till general registration opens.

Just read the Rebel challenge sold out pre-reg in 8 minutes. Unbelievable. If you are doing regular reg on the 10th make sure you are ready 5 minutes before, it's going to be WAY worse. WOW! As of right now, the half and 10k reg spots are 70% full at 1 hour in.

My friend and I are in for the 10k and the Wookie Welcome Party. Can't believe we're actually doing this! Can't wait, just need to get thru the Tower of Terror 10 mile run first!

I noticed this with another race (I cannot remember which one, they blur together all I ever focus on is getting my registration properly submitted). You can go back and purchase the pins at a later date. If it is sooner rather than later, the likelihood of them being sold out is slimmer.

Even though I won't get the AP discount by ordering them through Active, I won't need to stand in the line at the expo to buy them. Only if I find something I really really like. lol

I did go in to run disney and under commemoartive items purchase the pins and necklace-that was painful - one pin type at a time.

DW and I are registered for the Rebel Challenge. Also signed up for the random draw for the Nike Women's Half Marathon today. If we get selected for this one, that will make 5 races in 5 months! And we are still considering the possibility of doing the Princess Half in Feb.

I'm in for the Rebel Challenge, as is my running buddy! My best friend signed up for the half, too! This is going to be so fun!

I'm not shocked it sold out so fast. It seemed to go remarkably smoothly though. I started right when the links were added, and was registered by 9:03.

I did the 10k & 1/2 for Tink as well as the 5k, 10k & 1/2 for Princess this year. I was worried too and actually it went very well. For the 1/2 I felt very warmed up and not as stiff as I usually do before a 1/2. Biggest advice is try and stay off your feet as much as you can before the 1/2. If you do go to the parks (I did) just take frequent breaks and put you feet up. I also dipped my feet in the pool to "cool them off" as well as iced like crazy the night before the 1/2.

You will do great!

I think runDisney/active are getting better at the whole process and thought it went very smoothly this morning. No broken or missing links, even my name, address, etc popped up as soon as I put in a letter or number since I have registered for races in the past.

I wasn't a fan of having to get my pins separately but I can live with that, I also didn't enter a bib name anywhere which I think is different from previous races.

I was able to sign up for both the rebel challenge and the 5k (and order all my pins) but was shocked how quickly the rebel challenge sold out, I signed up for the RC first and then the 5k and when I finished at 9:09 it was sold out. I'm glad I didn't sign up for the 5k first or I may have missed out on the RC.

I signed up for the half. Would love to do the Rebel Challenge, but coming off doing the Goofy the week before and thought not to push it. Thought registration went very smooth. Now I was there 2 minutes after the hour w/ DVC page already up, but no problems otherwise. I also thought I had missed something in regards to pins after I had registered. Later realized that it was separate, which is a little nice because I can go back later when I have money and buy the pins.

This isn't directly related to the SW 1/2 marathon, but I figured this would be the best place to ask!

Does anyone have a good online source for Star Wars running gear? Especially shirts? I'd love to get DH something like this that's SW themed for Father's Day!

We're still trying to figure out if we can go to DLR for the SW 1/2, but at the very least I know he'd love it for the W&D 1/2 in November
