***Official*** Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Information Thread *** Contains SPOILERS ***

Nobody really knows. Not sure that will work with the theme of the area or if it does they may change the show.
Oh I hope they don't change it. My son is desperate to fight Carlos aka Kylo Ren. ;)

Not sure if it's been said here but Jim Hill and Len Testa interviewed Caryle Wisel of "Travel and Leisure" magazine about her 3 day long media event on Galaxy Edge. I'm not the biggest fan of Jim Hill's podcast but this episode was awesome. Just hearing from someone who actually stepped inside Galaxy Edge and she described everything so well. Really great episode and its episode 208 of the Disney Dish.

ah I gotcha - would be cool for you to have yours interact with the land, but you won't risk it. I totally get that and what I am worried about and how that will work .... can you do it while holding them or do you have put them down and let them move around and stuff

I have some clarification on the droids. I just listened to the Jim Hill podcast and they had a journalist as a guest who was part of the 3 day SWGE media tour and she says the droid isn't fully attended to be used within the land. She also stated that Scott Trowbridge said there will be some backpack where you put your droid in it and carry it around and you'll hear the droid react to things in the land. Concrete information still seems to be sort of up in the air on this.

Anyone else get that sense that with SWGE, Disney is intentionally de-emphasizing the Jedi concept? Sure, there is a lightsaber build, but seems much less focused on Jedi stuff than it could be. Maybe speaks to future films/overall direction of the franchise (which would be a mistake in my opinion)...

I think we will have to wait to see all of the merch there to know how they handle the Jedi issue. They may have robes and such, along with the lightsabers and holocrons, and of course the characters in the rides. But, at this point in the canon there aren't many Jedi to go around anyway... perhaps that will change too?

being that SWGE is based between Episode VIII and IX and that the First Order presence is more established there with the Rebels being in hiding and that Batuu has been said to be in the outskirts and a place for people that don't want to be found and attract attention go, it fits the story
Now do we know the story as a whole is to move away from Jedis? that we don't know and won't until episode IX comes out

I would think the storyline changes .. and seems to fit into the themes led in episode VIII -- where any kid (even some kid with a broom) can use the force and potetially become a Jedi.

They seem to want to not really have any references to the original trilogies in SWGE (except Chewbacca and the Millenium Falcon). So we'll see.

But thus far -- it doesn't seem like SWGE has the space allocated (or advertised) for Jedi Training OR meet and greets and instead seem to be just focusing on the immersion of the land itself (and all the interactive elements like the lightsaber building).

September/October for DHS seems a bit ambitious and considering Disney said it would open in fiscal 2020 I don't really buy it.

Opening Date for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge To Be Announced Thursday, Florida Date Moves Up

I agree. With a potential hurricane season coming up, I don’t see them promising a date this far in advance. And if DL’s is due to open in June and we may only be getting the date this Thursday, I think we are still in for a bit of a wait with WDW.

We may be reading too much into it but the late was already dropped from the initial late fall teaser so they have already hopefully moved the opening date further.

OMG I hope they're correct! If it opens end of Sept into beginning of October I will be ecstatic! We're at WDW 9/28-10/4. Theme Park Insider is predicting October 1, too. I am not getting my hopes up and still plan on a May 2020 trip just for SW:GE but boy that would be cool. :darth:

Maybe they give DHS a month for SWGE at the Shareholder meeting. My guess would now be November. I think things for Hollywood Studios need to open up in phases. Skylinner leading to DHS first. I would imagine they need to make sure that transportation is up to speed before opening SWGE. Second, Mickey's Runaway Railway. I would imagine that ride needs to have been operating for at least a month before SWGE opens to smooth crowd flow. I am not sure on any news on that attraction timing. Shoot, maybe they give an opening date for that ride soon. Last, SWGE opens slowly (Cast member previews, media previews, AP Previews) then open to everyone. All what I would do, if operating. But all speculation.
