The bus schedules vary, depending upon park hours and EMH, so that schedule on post #613 may not be accurate for your trip. Typically, the buses start running 1/2 hr. before park opening until 1 hr. after close. The 8:30 buses tend to be the busiest, as well as the buses at park closings. With 2 ECVs, you might be better off waiting for a later bus. The stops can also vary. When we went last June, one bus went to AK and TL, while another went to MGM (DHS now), BB and DTD, but at night, they had a dedicated MGM bus and a smaller DTD bus. You'll get a schedule when you check in and there is also a schedule posted at the bus stop.

When we book our next trip, we plan on arriving on a Saturday, but we'd like to sponsor my brother and sister-in-law who would not be able to arrive until Sunday. Would they be able to do that as long as we are there with them when they check in? Or do they have to check in the same day as we do?

One of the pitfalls to staying at SOG is you can't use ME. So...what do people do to get there from Orlando airport? Has anyone found an inexpensive way (without hitchhiking):thumbsup2

Thanks!!!

I'm not sure if our plan will work or not, but our plan is to stay at POP century for one night at the beginning and the end.

Take ME express from airport to POP, my parents arriving with van will transport our luggage to SOG then after five days back to POP.
Then we will take ME back to airport.

Are we crazy? I hope this works.

Yes.

as long as you are there the entire time he is there, there won't be an issue. But yes you will need to be there when he checks in, and he cannot stay after you have left.

Our kids will be too big for the cribs this next trip. I was just wondering if by chance SOG offers the bed rails. I don't think they do, but thought I would ask.

for all of you SOG eligible folks.

Have any of you ever used the Armed Forces Vacation Club?

http://www.afvclub.com/

We are thinking of using them for an upcoming trip, not Disney, and was wondering if any of you have ever tried them.

Please let me know.
TIA
Poohbeck

It's funny you should ask. We booked through them for our November Disney trip -- never used them before but from what I've read they're pretty good.

Thanks for the quick response. You'll have to let me know how it worked out for you. We are looking to go to Williamsburg or Myrtle Beach in April '09 and I think this will fit the bill for our hotel/condo needs.

They can provide bedrails. I'd call ahead of time and request it for your reservation just in case they have a run on bedrails the week you're there  .

We just got home from a 12 night stay at SOG! We really enjoyed it (even without the extreme Disney theme).

My one piece of advise is to bring some bug repellent.

Our first evening DH and I were sitting on the patio after the girls went to sleep and noticed that we were being attacked by mosquitos. The following day I looked at the AAFES store for some OFF, but they only had wipes (which I did buy). There were three other women looking for the same thing while I was in there - we just about bought them out, LOL!

The second night I used the wipes, but apperently missed about a quarter of my right lower leg and foot. I ended up with 17 mosquito bites in that one area, as well as one on the sole of my left foot (I never thought to put it on the soles of my feet since I was standing in my flip flops when I was aplying, LOL!)

I am very sensitive to mosquitos, so my leg looked a bit scary! After that night I found some Deep Woods OFF, and used that with great success! I like that I can spray my clothes as well, and feel extra protected!

This was our third year going at this time of year, but our first at SOG (we stayed at the Poly and BWV the past 2 trips). We have never had any bug bites before this, so I can only assume that Disney sprays there resorts and that SOG does not - or at least if they do, they were due to spray again badly! Also, we never had any problems with getting bites at the parks.

It certainly didn't ruin our trip, and we plan to stay there again next year prior to our Disney Cruise - we'll just bring along the insect repellent!

Just thought I would give you a heads up! I know that if it had been one of my DDs who got ate up and not me, then it could have been a miserable trip. As an adult I can live with it and do my best to not scratch, but a small child would have had a hard time having that much self control!

Also, the only itch relief at the AAFES store was a Benadryl stick thing, that while it was very convient to carry around, it didn't do a whole lot to relieve the itch! So maybe bring your favorite itch relief cream as well.

Good to know. I'll add it to my list. Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up!:)

Did you let the front desk know? Mabye if they get enough complaints, they will spray!
We'll be there next week and we have plenty of bug spray and Cortaid!:thumbsup2

We were so impressed by the lack of mosquitos last June. Our towncar driver told us Disney was trying to reduce spraying and rely on natural methods (birds and bats) to try to control the mosquitos. Maybe it's a bumper crop this year. Sounds like some spraying might be in order.

During our visit July 2006, we encountered way too many mosquitos by the main pool. I started wrapping up in beach towels each evening to avoid being the main course. I did not have that problem in the parks or anywhere else on property.

I read and just wanted to confirm, can I buy a resort cup at Poly and get refills if I walk through?

I don't want to break any rules, but I do know that I like walking through the poly every night before I get back to sog. I love walking. :goodvibes
