We were there same week (surprise, lol). We were in the new section overlooking the golf course (towards the garage). We were the ones wearing Sox hats (lol). We had 10 of us/family from ME/NH.

Oh yeah the guys had their Sox hats and shirts on and I have a Big Papi shirt that I wore. Also we wore some UMO stuff too. I could not believe all of the Red Sox attire I saw down there. I think Red Sox Nation took over WDW that week.:thumbsup2

Were you down waiting for the bus to take us to EMH at HS on the morning of the 19th? We saw a lot of Sox hats there. That was the day the drivers never showed up so we had to walk to Poly to catch the bus. We got to HS after 8:30.

Oh I saw the coolest bumper sticker on a car yesterday
"It ain't over til the Big Papi swings" Gotta get me one of those.

We just arrived at SOG today and I have posted some pictures of SOG and info about it so far in my trip report if anyone wants to view them. We love it and I am SO glad we stayed here. If you have any questions please feel free to post on my trip report and I can see if I can find out or answer your question.

Thanks for the report! This is our first stay at SOG! Glad you are liking it!:)

The Stars and Stripes includes the hopper and waterpark, sports, and Pleasure Island entrance. It expires one day after your length of stay. So if you are there for 4 days, your tickets expire on the 5th day. If you don't plan on going to the water parks or PI or sports complex, I wouldn't buy Stars and Stripes. It would be cheaper to buy the regular tickets with the hopper option, which you can also purchase at SOG. Have a fun trip!!

Thanks for your help! It sounds like we will get this package. We have been to Disney and usually stay at the Wilderness Lodge. This is our first time at SOG, and this thread has really helped us get ready for our Nov trip. Thanks again!!!!

Anybody know what the "Sunrise Package" goes for? I can't seem to find any prices online. It just says call for reservations.

We have never stayed at SOG as we live 10 minutes away, but I have thought about it for a short break. My husband is Retired Navy, and we love to stay at Military facilities. The people are always more pleasant and helpful.
We have stayed at several bases in the US and overseas.
We like to stay at Patrick AFB near Cocoa Beach, because of all the facilities.
We are members of the Club there.
We had a pleasant stay at Naval Air Station Jacksonville also.

You're very welcome, have fun! We have always had a great time at the SOG, say HI to Henry the busdriver for us!

I think it would be great for an overnight stay! The whole atmosphere is supportive of the service folks, active and retired, and it's like being "home" wherever you are. You can take a nice walk on the Polynesian beach and watch the fireworks!

We just came back and Red Sox hats and shirts were everywhere! I may be an Alaskan now, but I was born and raised in New England back in the Yastrzemski and Conigliaro days! Go Sox!

HI all I have a ? we leave in just 19 days. and now I am rethinking things a bit. I didn't request pool side rooms and and am now thinking that might be fun. What do you think my chances are of getting them if I called on Mon or Tue to request it? I have 3 rooms reserved.

am I nuts? Either way its no big deal just with 4 kids I am thinking that might be nice?

but still only 19 DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1:

You can try. If they don't have any no big deal. I think they cost a little more. Ask for the pool area where your kids will spend their time.

We enjoyed the patio more than a balcony. You can walk right out the slider and to the pool and with large groups you can move your chairs together (no bars separating you).

When we visited a few years ago, I seem to remember a girl doing hair braids out by the pool. Is she still there, and if so how much does it cost?

If they don't have any available ask for one near the pool. We are on the main floor ( one above pool view) and we just walk down the stairs or hop on the elevator and we are right near the pool. I think me might even be closer than some of the "pool view rooms" :lmao:

Do any of you know when SOG puts up Christmas decorations? Do any of have pictures you can post up? And, do they do anything special at the resort around the holidays.:santa:

We will be going the week before Thanksgiving :cool1: and I am hoping they will have some Christmas stuff going on.

Thanks.

hubby just asked me if he would be able to get his weekly high and tight while we are there.

Does anyone know if the Harmony Barber Shop does decent high and tights or is there any where else he can get one?

DH got his military haircut on Main Street several years ago. They even gave him a Buzz to play with, and the pixie dust finish.
