***Official September 2022 Thread***

Thank you!
now you understand how far we have to travel to get there! I should be a zombie for the first couple of days 😄
At least your trip is 14 days long. Just long enough for you to adjust to the time zone before you have to go back.

Marriott Cypress Harbour looks amazing, very highly rated on Tripadvisor.

Ask any and all questions. I'm guessing most of the people on this thread have done their fair share of Disney research, so no need to reinvent the wheel.

Probably the most important thing is once you've bought your park tickets (I bought mine through Undercover Tourist because of their liberal refund policy), make sure you make your park reservations right away. FWIW, I used touringplans' crowd calendar to choose which parks to go to on particular days.

Hey all,

Another Aussie making the long trip to Orlando. (But won't be as tired as we will be in NYC for the week before we get to Disney).
The trip was originally booked for September 2020...then September 2021...and now finally September 2022. This time it will happen!

Sept 9-16th
Myself and my twin 16-year-old boys.
Staying at POP.
Doing 4 days at Disney- 1 at each park. And 2 days at Universal.
Doing 1 night at a Universal Hotel to get Express Pass for the 2 days. Not checking out of POP so will leave our bags there and take a daypack each for that time.

Super excited. I have been to WDW once in 2005 (and stayed at POP).
With my boys, we have been to Disneyland 1 day, Universal Hollywood 1 day, and 2 days at Tokyo Disney.

Looking forward to sharing the excitement with you all and also picking your knowledgable brains!

Oops I’m slow on the uptake 🙂

my son and I will be at Disney world 23rd September until 6th October. We’re staying at the Marriott Cypress Harbor ( well I think that’s what its called).
we are both so excited but also anxious because everything is so new to us.

thanks for the great welcome
Kate 😄
Hi Kate @tompaddyelle and Welcome back in to the Group!! I will add you to our Countdown List ::MinnieMo

@Ash Derek and @tompaddyelle where in Australia are you all?

@Ash Derek and @tompaddyelle where in Australia are you all?
Thanks all for the warm welcome.
I'm in Melbourne. My wife is from TX so she will fly from NYC to SATX to see family while we go to Orlando for a week and then to TX.

I have a couple of quick questions for y'all (that's my wife's influence coming out).

I had booked Tuesday the 13th for MK. I see now they have a Halloween party that night. I read that would still be a good day to go to MK as it's quieter on party days. I don't mind leaving at 4 pm if we can do most things there (and we have been to Disneyland and Tokyo Disney which are similar).
I was thinking of perhaps doing Hoop De Doo that day. Taking the boat from MK and seeing the 615 show. Would you recommend that? Is the cost and transportation effort worth it?
Or are we better heading back to the hotel for our one early night t as we have an action-packed schedule?

Also, what are your thoughts on midday breaks? Is it worth heading back to POP for a couple of hours to break up the day and rest or does it take too much time?

@tinabina919 - I will have a few NYC questions for you!

Thanks all.

I am a big fan of mid day breaks, but I am an early riser. I also think if you have only one day for MK I would make the most of it and pick a non-party day so that you could spend the evening there. I love MK at night.

This was one of my kids' favorites and they'd say it's a great way to spend the evening with the early MK close. My husband wasn't into it (food not his style, not into the camp of the show). As to transpo, the boat over is lovely and, when the show let out for us, they had buses running straight to MK right down the hill. It was a very quick trip back to the park to grab our resort bus. That was the beforetimes, though. Not sure how it'll be now.

Is it worth heading back to POP for a couple of hours to break up the day and rest or does it take too much time?

If you don't want to go all the way to Pop, you could consider lunch ADRs outside the parks. Skyliner to Riviera or Caribbean Beach from HS, check out the monorail resorts from MK, Crescent Lake resorts from the back of EP, etc. It gives you some time in air outside the crowds but you aren't subject to bus waits to get out and back. Just depends how jam packed you want your trip to be.

I haven't been to Hoop Dee Doo or stayed at FW, but I believe the transportation would be really easy. I think the easiest way to get there is from MK, just hop on their own boat transportation. I've heard nothing but good about it, so I'm going to say cost is also worth it. As far as getting back to your own hotel after, I'd suggest getting an Uber/Lyft/Minnie Van though. It would probably be a bit of a hassle to get to the bus area of FW and take a bus somewhere like Disney Springs and then transfer to a POP bus. I would say with MNSSHP going on, you wouldn't want to go back to MK and catch a bus from there. Way too much going on. You also don't have to leave as early as 4 from MK.... that's just the time you can get into the park with a party ticket. You should be allowed to stay until 7, but of course you'd want to leave earlier than that for your reservation.

I'm all for a mid day break, especially with hot days. It's a great way to cool down, take a break off your feet, take some time to rehydrate and maybe a nap. Park days are long and Disney is a trip, not a vacation as I like to say. Even when taking breaks or pool days you're not going to come home relaxed and refreshed like you would from something like an all-inclusive beach resort. I DEFINITELY recommend breaks from HS and Epcot when you're staying at POP. The convenience of the skyliner can't be overstated, but with the bus for MK and AK it's a little less easy. Maybe if you have Park Hopper tickets I would do Epcot in the evening after AK instead of going back to the same park. That way its only one bus ride and then in the evening you can check out the Epcot entertainment and F&W.

I did the pre-purchase in January and did not find the additional cost for the whole trip to be worth it at all so I didn't purchase for September. The inability to stack or get another reservation until 2 hours passed meant on most days I only used the feature for one ride since availability quickly moved into afternoon return times when I was either hopping or taking a break. It might be a good option if you are arriving later in the parks, instead of rope dropper, or plan on heading to the park for just an afternoon, but for me, I found that arriving at early entry and getting a lot done during that time worked better.

I do recommend it for HS, as I was able to use it there for Midway Mania early and then again quickly for an immediate ride on Star Tours while Rise was shut during my return window. The other place that would work out well is probably MK if you are doing early entry. Because you're limited to Fantasyland and Tomorrowland I would suggest trying to hit a couple rides in one of those areas and then make a beeline to Adventure. Once there, ride Pirates right away as that line moves fast, and have a Genie+ return for Jungle. That ride line builds up FAST and the return times book fast as well.

My experience could have been poor because January crowds were pretty awful. If crowds are slowing, and in September much lower, then maybe Genie+ will be more effective, however if the crowds are that low, the cost may not be worth it if waits are short.

Hi there! I’m excited for a September trip- we’re headed down September 24-28! My family used to go almost annually growing up, but I’ve only been back a couple of times as an adult- and it’s been about 5 years since I last went! My husband has never been, and neither have my 4 and 3 year olds. My parents are tagging along as well! We were originally booked for POFQ, which I think looks wonderful! But, I found Dolphin to be right around the same price so actually made the switch today. I like the idea of walking or taking the boats to Epcot and HS, especially with us planning for mid-day breaks.

Hoping for lower crowds, and ready for the heat! Also hoping my husband enjoys it. He asked to not do 3 park days, so we compromised with two park days and a rest day. The more manageable I can make it for him, the more likely he will agree to many more future visits! :)

We are going Sept. 18 - 28th with my family and 1st Great Grand Baby! She will be 1 1/2 years old. We are staying at POP because the skyliner is the best thing ever! So easy to park hop to HS and Epcot, it's just super amazing to have such easy access. We won't buy Genie + ahead or maybe not at all. We will do Early Morning Hours. When I did use it a couple times back in Dec. I thought it was pretty useless except for one main ride a day. Hoping lower crowds and early morning will eliminate the need altogether. Don't like the heat but with Great Grand Baby's first going to have to stick it out with lots of afternoon pool or nap breaks. Can't wait! Super excited as usual, and it never gets old, no matter how old I get...LOL!
