Is the dessert party not to be missed?
For us we enjoy it mainly because we can sit and relax and a good way to end a day at MK. To me, it is way overpriced especially when we started doing them they were only $25 a piece for the same experience pretty much. It is just something we save up for and do each trip. It is just DH and I so that makes a big difference.

It sounds amazing!! Were you able to book it on your ADR day? Our window opens on Sunday.

Yes, I was. In fact, as I was sitting here waiting for our window to open that day I tried it early and it allowed me to book it. Not sure how early I could have done it. Sometimes though they don't have them out there yet so if you don't see it just keep trying it. There are other options besides the one you do. There is one where you eat the desserts prior or after and then there is a reserved spot elsewhere to watch them. Those don't cost as much as the treat and seats one. We just like that one but heard great things about the others also.

I like the idea of treats and seats. We will see how things play out here soon.

I'll be honest I read some stuff before my January trip and thought, boy is this going to be a rip off. And as far as the dessert goes, its WAY overpriced, but the price to not have to scope out a spot on main street AGES before the fireworks start and you get a great view, that's pretty much priceless.

For January I did the post-fireworks party which was great for me since it meant I didn't have the mass exodus rush to leave the park to deal with. I checked in, went to sit in the hub for about an hour and then didn't need to fight off anyone for a good view once the show started. It's plenty of space for people to be comfortable and not on top of each other the way it would be on main street. I get a little claustrophobic myself in crowds. For September I decided to do the Seats and Treats. It's a little more money, but I'd rather be at a table in the September heat instead of the hub.

That’s why we are doing it too. I have too big of a party to hold spots together, midway through our trip the heat will be getting to us, and this is the day we’re planning to have G+ at MK so we will want to make the most of ride time and have that seated reserved space with drinks waiting and guaranteed. Plus my nephew is very sensory sensitive and probably would’nt be able to do fireworks in the middle of a crowd. We’re hoping a little distance, a little space and the ability to wear his ear protection with relative privacy will help him be able to enjoy it. And a building to escape to easily if not.

I have zero expectations that the desserts will be “worth it” but I’m sure they’ll be a fun thing the kids get excited for.

Random questions:

1. How late can you be to an ADR before they cancel it?

2. Is there a a target or a chic fil a on the way from airport to AOA we could ask Uber or Lyft to stop at?

3. Where is the best spot for 2nd rope drop to get to splash mountain? From the hub or the land?

Anyone else having difficulty trying to plan (ADRs, park days, etc) with no idea what is going to happen after August 7th? It’s leaving me guessing if I’m picking the right things!
The only thing I am waiting to see is what the procedure will be for GotG. I hope the VQ stays b/c that will make it easier for us to ride, but some people think it will go to standby before Sept. I know I can still do ILL, but VQ is free. Also waiting to see if Remy goes back to ILL, which might actually help me. I'm all about avoiding lines at Epcot on arrival day!
Anyone have suspicions when the Magic Kingdom and Epcot fireworks will take place in mid-September? I'm trying to think through when to be where for fireworks and I hate that I have no idea what time they are going to take place! All the info from last year is pre-50th, so I don't know if it's helpful or not.
I think I saw fireworks times listed at 9:00 for both parks. It should become clearer when we get closer, I hope.

I could be wrong, but the dessert parties are categorized as Enchanting Extras, which I believe are supposed to open up at midnight, not 6am like ADRs. I was able to book mine while I waited for 6AM to roll around for my ADRs with no problem.

I mean, they aren't terrible, but they're not the most amazing thing you've ever had. Although I could eat just a plate of the chocolate covered strawberries they had and be a happy camper. SOOOO good. And the juices they had were really good. I had a nice glass of champagne of course, but the non alcoholic choices were really yummy.

Can't really help with your other questions, but if you're already in the park from Early Entrance then I would try and be near Small World, go past HM and round the Rivers of America. Most direct route. If you went back to the hub, then you'd need to go through Liberty. Adventure is probably more busy with people trying to get to Jungle. That line fills up fast!

Hi everyone! Question about MK on a MNSSHP day.

We are newbies (me, DH and an 8 yr old) with base tickets planning to be at MK on a MNSSHP day and not attending the party. Our strategy is to make good use of our time but not overdo it in the heat. We are thinking midday breaks back at POP during most afternoons. So I’m having a hard time picturing this 9-6:00 MK day. Since it’s a short day is it doable to make a dining res (AC) during the heat of the afternoon and then reserve our hotel break for after 5 or 6pm when the park closes? Or would that be pushing it? We don’t want to waste the whole MK day at the hotel but don’t want to make ourselves sick either. Where we live there is no humidity and I’m pretty worried about how the heat+humidity is going to affect us.

I like your plan for MK day. We have had to think about our plans as we too are not going to the party. I'm very bad in the heat as well, so taking a late afternoon dinner break and heading back to the hotel might be just fine. I avoid MK on party night, other than doing early morning. So we saw it as an issue and are working around it. We go to room in the afternoon and then go back out at night. Do you just have the one MK day?

We have one other MK day but it’s on a Monday so I’m expecting higher crowds and not being able to get as much done that day.

You may find that you can get more done on a party day because people often avoid MK due to the shortened hours. Do you have park hoppers? You could always spend the evening in Disney Springs?

I think with an AC late lunch you’ll be ok. Maybe plan to spend the post-lunch hours doing things like Philharmagic, finishing shopping, meeting characters, stuff that will keep you more inside and feel less like running around in the heat?

I definitely think a nice AC break mid day would be enough. You could make it a little longer by taking the monorail to a monorail resort table service restaurant for lunch (Steakhouse 71 and Grand Flo Cafe are awesome lunch spots)

That’s actually a perfect idea because then you get that little bit of sensory break too from the sounds and crowd.

Thanks for all the great replies. I was actually thinking about doing this for Grand Flo cafe but I was wondering if that was something that sounds good in my head but in reality would feel like a lot of running around. 😄 So this is good to hear. We’ve never been to GF so I bet we’d enjoy looking around in the AC a bit.

Because I am easily influenced 😂 I grabbed myself a treats and seats spot for my resort day. Which then had a domino effect on my plans lol but I also realized I had forgotten about the half day I have to work so I needed to move stuff around that day as well. So now I have a perfect day for stacking DHS rides 😁 - work in the morning, stacking LL as I do it lol.

My resort day had been looking like I wouldn’t be at the resort so I managed to move my Homecomin reservation to another day so I’ll hit Trader Sams and then the dressert part and fireworks at MK that day. Which leaves the morning and 1/2 the afternoon to enjoy AKL! Luckily I had an extra day of tickets to manage this. Knew I’d end up in the park every day 😁

Folks must be getting to their ADR days or coming right up on them! How's everyone doing with their plans!?

I had my first of two ADR days yesterday morning. 🥱 I mostly worked backwards on my dates and got almost everything I wanted that morning between 6 and 6:30am. Logged on later in the morning and knocked out a couple of others. Plus I booked the rhino experience out of the blue a little after midnight before going to sleep to wake up for 5:50am (because sleep is for the weak!) (I'm still so tired today, ha!)

  • Sept 16: Skipper Canteen - Booked at 11am since there was literally nothing at any table service after 3pm when I looked at 6am (got our ressie for after 4 but before the Halloween party starts so we can show up in our costumes and not waste our party time)
  • Sept 17: O'hana for brunch; Sanaa and Yak & Yeti both reserved for lunch- we'll see which we keep... Booked Y&Y at 6am, O'hana and Sanaa at 11am when I checked on a whim
  • Sept 18: Rhino experience at AK and Cali Grill for late-ish dinner- Booked Rhinos at midnight, CA Grill at 6am
  • Sept 19: Space 220 restaurant for lunch, San Angel Inn for dinner- Booked at 6am; wanted Lounge but it was of course unavailable
My next ADR day is Thursday. I'll be trying for 50's Primetime and Topolino's dinner, both of which look like will be a breeze to get based on current conditions. I'll check for Space 220 Lounge too, but not holding my breath. I don't think I have any other "must do" eating to book since we'll be trying to play it by ear at the end of vacation and can always eat our faces off at Food & Wine. Here's to hoping everyone is getting what they want!
