Does anyone know if I opt out of poly upon arrival and move to less expensive resort, will they refund my money?
The guest I mentioned who had switched from the Poly to AKL... did recieve a credit for the difference.
In her situation, she has paid rack rate for the Polynesian... and then rack rate for AKL. Disney credited her the difference.
Where it probably gets 'hazy' is when guests have booked on discounted rates.
I've read experiences where Disney honored AP rates... Meaning if you received an AP rate at the Poly... they'll offer an AP rate at the AKL, and credit the difference.
But I've read mixed experiences with publically discounted room rates. I'm not familiar enough with the system to know if Disney is able to view which rooms were available during your 'code' booking period.
Some guests have booked discounted rates... and only been offered rack rates as options... therefore a downgrade to another deluxe may be a wash.
Others have said managers and CMs have extended their 'discount' to any available resorts.
If it arises, be polite and explain your concerns. Don't wait for Disney to 'offer' you anything... ask for resort options... and don't go into the process with the expectation of a credit. A calm, cool, collected head will get you much farther!
For your dates... I really can't see an issue large enough to warrant a resort change though.
The Quiet Pool is expected to be finished 'Winter 2015'... which very well could be around your week. Knowing that, the bulk of heavy construction should be over and done with... and more along the lines of finishing touches.
... It makes me a little nervous but at the same time, I really am not interested in other hotels at this point. Just wondering, anyone else going in fall that is sitting tight with their res for now?
We're traveling in September... anxious... but holding onto our reservation.
Fearing construction views/noise from rooms overlooking the East Pool... we've requested Fiji.
The majority of Standard rooms at the Poly do NOT overlook the East Pool [construction.] Even if our request isn't granted... I still feel confident.
Given the construction timeline for that project... it seems like the resort is taking it 'nice and slow'... probably considering how small that courtyard really is. The entire South Side of Hawaii (Club Level) overlooks that area... I can't imagine they want to upset/loose their 'top paying' guests.
The current state of the resort... is nowhere near what you'll experience in October. There's a huge push for the April 1st DVC opening at the moment.
