Official Poly construction update thread **updated video page 103(2/17/15)**

Last month construction crews were being tasked with starting prep work September 9th. I am guessing that was the flags and power outage we saw. Then walls were to go up today and it looks like they are preparing for that and telling guests that walls will be up today.

Flag markers ran down the side of Tokelau between Tahiti so I don’t know if that is just for the lines that are going in or the new paths or if they are going to surround Tahiti at some point. We will have to wait and see.

Discussions internally about Great Ceremonial House renovations have been increasing and there is a possibility it will start before the end of the year but no dates for sure yet. When the pool will start has been in some of the discussions also but nothing I am allowed to share right now.

Another Disney person mentioned the bungalows being the most expensive villas in the DVC line. This is about the 6th person involved in the process that mentioned this.
Thank you for the updates!!!!

We received a letter about the construction and when I called to modify my reservation the CM also asked if I knew about the planned construction. So Dis is trying to make an effort to get out the word. Not sure why not everyone was informed by letter though.

We are also planning a long weekend in Jan and my DH still wants to stay at Poly despite the construction.

However, if we spend another long week at Dis in 2014 or 15, we may consider a different hotel. Unless Poly offers some good discounts!

My inlaws decided to book a trip to orlando this february today and asked us to join them! so of course we must visit disney!

I am just wondering how bad construction will be mid february???

I really wish Disney would invest in some new rides instead of all this DVC...

DVC "investments" don't actually come from the same pot as the attractions. With DVC, they only need to do short-term financing until the units are sold.

There are more pics up on tikimans FB page from Hawaii building yesterday.

I'm sure you've all discussed this before but I'm not sure where to start reading in the 44 pages to find an answer...

We go to the Poly every year at the end of Jan for my kids' birthdays and I'm wondering what you think it will look like around that time. We love Tokelau (my daughter uses a wheelchair for the parks so we've gotten a first floor) but will be construction be bad in that area? How about the GCH...do you think it will be closed then?

The short answer is that no one really knows for sure until it happens. With things changing so rapidly the last two months, January is a long ways off.

What seems likely (based solely on what Tikiman is telling us) is that the east half of Tokelau will probably be overlooking construction. West half should be clear since there's no known plans to do anything to the quiet pool.

Tikiman has also hinted that work on the GCH might start before the end of 2013.

Just to add to what thorphin posted, it is doubtful that the GCH will be closed completely, bur rather they will be working on it section by section.

For me, either of 'Ohana or Kona being closed would be a deal breaker (I don't know if I should take any solace in the fact that both of these are still taking ADRs through mid-March and I have seen no specific rumors about either being closed at a certain time).

I have ADRs for both in January and it will be my first time to both! I think I will be okay if I miss Ohana, but I have my heart set on Kona breakfast!!

I think you will be okay since they are still taking reservations. I hear the Tonga Toast is to die for!

Bungalows sound super cool I would buy.

Thanks so much! We like the west side facing the quiet pool so hopefully it will be fine. My kids like that pool better than the volcano pool anyway.

Oh and for those who love Tonga Toast, you can always get it QS at Capt Cooks. It's quick, easy and tasty!
