I think the way Disneys sees it both restaurants at Poly are very popular they really don't need a signature restaurant..

Right, they are very popular but being a deluxe resort, I think they should offer at least one upscale restaurant.

DVD has deluxe studios, one bedroom and two bedroom villas and grand villas which are Three bedrooms and sleep 12.

My understanding is the construction walls that are going up will be at Tahiti area and that the GCH and pools should be fine.. Thy better be we have a cabana rented in Sept! Lol

The Volcano pool was scheduled to be closed for a week back in March for maintenance. That didn't happen and schedule was changed to it being closed for a week during September. A few weeks ago this disappeared from the scheduled refurbishments list and according to Tikiman it will be rescheduled for January (and may be longer than just a one week maintenance period).

So for at least right now there is no pool closure scheduled for the Poly for September (or any other closures at the Poly for September). However, everything is subject to change and the last update to the Disney Travel Agent site refurbishment list was on 8/5/13.

We are going at the end of September. It's a surprise trip for my kids, but they have always wanted to stay at the poly. I'm hoping it doesn't affect the pool at that time. Is it always posted a few weeks before if they are going to close something for the week? If we get there and it's closed, it will be a sad sad day.

I have no inside information but to me it would make more sense to close in jan? Best of luck and have a wonderful trip!

I have my first stay at the Poly booked for November. I seriously don't know if I should stay there or move to WL or GF. I don't mind the long houses being under construction. I just don't want to be there for my first time with GCH and the pool under construction. Any thoughts??

I thought I would give you guys the latest information on here because the Polynesian posting has turned into talking about a little bit of everything besides the resort.

So we have been talking about September. I still don’t think the pool or the GCH will be affected this year but that is not based on anything official I have seen or been told except the info of the pool being worked on in January.

Then we got information that people were going to be asked to move resorts. People have been reporting they are being called to move and they are being told that it is just because of overbooking.

Next I got information about walls going up on 9/7 to start work on DVC at the lagoon and beach. There was no specific mention of any longhouses but I would be surprised if they kept Tahiti open with construction going on at the beach. Also I could see some rooms in Hawaii affected because of where some of the proposed bungalows are located out at Sunset pointe.
Test patterns in Rapa Nui and some talk about Rapa Nui not getting the new room design seem to indicate that Rapa Nui may be turned into DVC along with Tahiti but that is pure speculation. I do know that the plan is to turn Tahiti into DVC.

Now the Polynesian is officially being notified that construction next month will affect the views on some rooms so some rooms will have their view category changed and other rooms will be closed. No mention of whether or not a whole building will close of only some of its rooms.

My guess is Tahiti will close and some room view categories in Hawaii will change.

Now I believe this information was only given to certain Polynesian staff and may not have been shared with reservations and that is who you call when you call the Polynesian. They are the ones telling people that there is no construction planned but don’t blame them because for all we know that is all they are being told.

I have been reading all of steves updates today, I would hope that Disney would officialy disclose what will be happening next month, only seems fair to guests traveling at that time.

I have read alot from people going in Sept and I am so happy that most people are trying to take it in stride and are determined to not let it get them down!

As far as the adventureland theme? Why? I guess I will wait and see what the final product will be.

On a personal note, having a hard time planning for next Aug, I feel pressure to book even earlier this time because of this construction leading people to book elsewhere, leading to resorts selling out sooner.

I need to remember that most people are not as well informed as we are here on the Dis, things will be fine.

Not knowing is just very unfortunate when it comes to Disney anymore. They don't ever release any details externally until a shovel hits the ground.
