Regarding the online references -- Prospect Park bought the rights to AMC and OLTL from abc/Disney, with the intent of bringing the shows online, meaning they would be available on the internet. They had some financial backing and had hired some actors for both shows, but more for OLTL. Then the day before Thanksgiving they announced they would not be able to move forward after all. If the deal had gone as planned, OLTL would have aired on abc for the last time Friday the 13th, and online for the first time Monday the 16th. With that in mind, Prospect Park had input into the plotlines, and obviously, they were not "ending" big things since the show was going on. That's why JR shot someone at the end of AMC, it was supposed to be back on the air this January, and Prospect Park wanted a big cliffhanger so people would tune back in.
OLTL had already ceased taping when this announcement was made. They could do some things with other scenes they had taped, but for the most part, we got the show that was supposed to set things up to launch online. We did not get a series finale show -- or what it would have looked like if they thought the show was truly ending -- that's why there was no Jolie wedding, Victor wasn't brought back from the dead to Tea, etc.
I did like the ending inasmuch as I can assume Victor eventually gets free, Tea and Victor are reunited, and Blair (as she always does) will eventually forgive Todd and they will be together. At least in my end of OLTL
Now the Mannings and John are going to GH, so I'm sure we'll get closure on Victor being alive and with Tea (and probably Sam and Jack staying with them). I'm more nervous about Jolie, as I can't see how he can be in PC without the love of his life. I'm really, really hoping they don't kill her and Liam off...
But, I also think this is stunt casting, and they could just be there for a short stay. It disappoints me because I had hoped Michael Easton (John) would come back to PC as a new character.
