Official October Code Watch

We live in the far Chicago suburbs and have the 5th and 8th off for an extended Columbus Day Weekend. Always hope that we are the only ones (yeah right):headache: to pull the kids out during this extended time off...but it looks like alot of us have the same idea!!! ;)

Maybe we'll see some of you there 4th-9th!!

Also subscribing - hoping for October discount codes! Thanks to whomever started this :yay:

Your Welcome! I just thought us Disers going in October should have our own "waiting room" for the outstanding codes that are sure to come.:surfweb:

This will be my 1st trip and I'm confused. I am meeting with my TA this week to book our trip. We still havent decided yet on oct or nov 07. If we go ahead and book, can we receive a discount later if a code comes out? or will be lose out?

You can add discounts later but keep watching because they do sometimes go very quickly. In my opinion I think it's better to book as soon as you know what your dates are. That way you are at least locked in to a room. AAA discounts are already out if you are a member. That helps a little over rack rates. Good luck.

waiting for codes as well... First ever trip to Disney 31st Oct - 4th Nov.
I was subscribing for November code watch earlier, until I realized that I need to watch the october codes. :)
I already have a ressie for ASMovies, hopefully I can "update" it if some codes appear.

Nothing yet?
Come on codes, I'd like to know if I'm staying at WL or moving somewhere else!

Subscribing, and going from 10/25 until 11/1.
How does this code-thing work? Can you only use codes if you receive them in the mail? Because in that case, i'm bummed, they never send mailings to Belgium :( (not their target audience, pfff)

No these are codes released to the general public with no pin code on it.

There are general public codes-good for everyone to use
Florida resident -need to live in Fl or have proof of it
AP- Annual Passholders

We are coming to WDW 10/20-10/25. What are the codes and how do they help???? Please enlighten a newbie!:confused3
Do I need to subscribe to something???

If I am wrong - someone please correct me. Remember - I teach 13 year olds so I explain in detail
No, you don't have to subscribe to anything - hopefully there will be a code, usually a combination of three letters. It will be made public and you just need to make sure you are checking the boards often to get the code. There are several different groups that the code might be designated for (FL resident, annual pass holder, Disney Rewards Visa holders and general public). Sometimes the code will be made available to certain groups a few days before opening up to the general public.
Depending on what they release - the codes sometimes are discounts for the room reservations (a "room-only") and sometimes there are package discounts that will apply to your ticket/dining/room total.
If you have existing reservations - you call Disney as soon as the code is made public, once you go through the hoops of getting to the cast member, give them your reservation number etc... you tell them you have a code and give it to them. They will tell you if there are rooms at your resort that are eligible for the discount. Depending on how many people have called - there may or may not be discounts available at your particular resort because they only designate a certain number of rooms at each resort to be available for a discounted rate. The last time we used a code, they just credited our credit card. If you are using a travel agency, contact them asap to see if they can apply it to your reservation. Depending on the agency, they might also get the code and apply it to your reservation but you need to check.
If there are not discounts available at your resort, ask them to check a comparable resort to see if there is something open there. For example you might be able to switch from All Star Movies to All Star Music and get a code rate to save money.
There is a post earlier in this thread with the rates from last year that the discount code generated. If there is one this year - it should be close. Last year our party of 4 saved close to $400 staying at All Star Music.

Usually around the time a code is going to come out there is a ton of rumors circulating here . . .I'm surprised there are none yet seeing next week is the end of the month . . .:confused3

Wishing on a code for October . . .:wizard: :wizard:

Hi, Thinking of a "quick" trip in October. My DD(23) and I would just LOVE to experience Food and Wine Festival ! A REALLY good room rate could make it a reality! Joan

I'm surprised by the lack of rumor so far, too! Usually we seem to hear rumblings of "it's coming soon!" a couple of weeks in advance.

We could start our own rumors!! In October, FREE resort rooms for Dis'ers!

I too am getting very eager. We are almost at the end of the month. The last batch of AP/FL ressie codes were out by this time last month. I think we will have them within a week...just a feeling. (no insider info... just hope!)

This is what happened to me yesterday when I called reservations.

I politely asked if there was any AP discounts (or others) for my ressie (10/3-10/8) at ASMu. The cast member stated she would check and what do you know it came back 40 bucks cheaper than my orginal ressie.

I asked if this were a AP discount and she said she could not tell.
I received my email confirmation about two hours later and it looked like the first night dropped by at least 20 and the other nights were just a few dollars cheaper.

I'm still keeping my eyes and ears open hoping for an AP discount.

I'm still in the preffered room location and everything else looks the same so I dont know why the price drop for the first night.

Anyone got any ideas?

A person on here posted she had gotten an e-mail offering her a discount (pin) and it was good through 10/3. I bet you had a pin attached to your name and she found it when you asked. I had posted her comments here on 7/18 and her code was for value $66. Congrats and come on AP's and all sorts of codes.
