By the way, how is AK in the rain? Is it pointless?

NO------There are some great things to do in Animal Kingdom if it rains. It's Tough to be a Bug, Dinosaur, Kilimanjaro Safaris (if it is just a sprinkle). Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo - The Musical. Or make it snack time and pop into a food place and have a seat. Rain usually only last for about 10-20 at a time in Fl so let everyone else flock to the resorts and you stay and play.

We have been watching the 10 day forecast for several months.(just for fun)
There has been scattered or isolated T-storms every day since at least May. We've been here since 9/24 and it's only rained hard once, A couple of little showers other days but nothing major. Of course it could pour the whole time you guys are here but it seems unlikely. Just go with the flow and don't let it dampen your day.

Terri, have you tried melatonin? We use it for Kyle when he's either (1) left his patch on longer than he should (it's his ADHD med) or (2) he just can't sleep. He actually took some himself last night because he wasn't feeling sleepy and he knew he would have a hard time falling asleep. Melatonin is natural....something your body already makes; some people just need a little extra help.

Have to call dining when I get a chance today because when I was packing I realized I didn't pack any "business casual" clothes for California Grill. I had everyone kinda dress up last time and then realized that a lot of people didn't adhere to the dress code and were wearing denim shorts and sneakers. I think I'll have to go get hubby a nicer pair of shorts (he wears basketball shorts) and a shirt. I think the kids will be ok. I'll just bring non-t-shirts for the boys (you know, collared shirts). Amy and I should be ok with our nicer capris and a nice top.

OK...back to the grind.

When we went in May, I checked accuweather everyday religiously and it showed rain every single day up until the day we left. We parked the car at Pop to go check in and it started POURING. Once we checked in, we went back outside and never saw another drop our entire vacation (6 days) so really, do not worry!

AK is one of those parks that's actually ok when it rains. With the trees and all of the inside things to do, you really can get away with it more than other parks, I think. Between the shows, Rafiki's planet watch and the safari alone, you can kill some great rain time!

WE'RE IN THE TEENS!!!!!!

I can hardly stand the wait anymore! I'm in serious countdown and prep mode now. I pulled out the big suitcase and mini-packed last night. Got out the essential clothes and put them in for all 3 of us and we had TONS of room left, so I figured all of our clothes would fit in there no problem, even though that's not how we're packing. So I'll put most of the clothes, an extra pair of shoes and the toilettries in there and then cross pack some clothes, toilettries and jackets in the carry ons and still have extra room for souvenirs. I was VERY excited!

I've been fairly busy at work these days, which is unusual for me and the reason I haven't been so active lately. It's bumming me out, really. I want to share the excitement with everyone! My coworkers can just about only stand my countdown every morning and that's about it.

Alright, time to go for my lunch time walk to get my Disney legs back and then I'll try and catch up in the afternoon some more.

We are all packed and ready to go (just finished) at this time Friday we will be around 6 1/2 hours into our trip with only 2 1/2 hours to go.

I also put all the addresses we will need into the GPS this morning, so I can just hit favorites on our shopping day and head to the outlet malls.

Now if Thursday could hurry up and get hear so I could pack the rental car!!!!! Then we are OFF first thing Friday morning.

WooHoo!! 3 days. I cannot believe it!! Thanks to everyone who's been trying to reassure me about the rain. DBF has now been paying attention to the forecast and thinks maybe we should change up "my" schedule (he knows VERY little about the actual plans on this trip. It is all ME!). LOL. The only thing I can think to change is AK day to a second Epcot day, but you guys are making me feel like that's not necessary!

I guess we can just play it by ear when we get there in 3 DAYS!!

All my worrying about rain in FL must have caused the rain here in Cali...I'm sure of it.

At least the new iPhone announcements kept me occupied this morning!

PHEWWWW! Crisis averted! We thought we may have an issue with my in-laws coming up to watch our dog. My Mom is 84 years old and has problems with her knees and can't take doing stairs that much so she can't take her for long periods of time any longer like she used to, and being that it's only about 2 and a half weeks until we leave, it's kind of short notice for our other dog sitter.

I was seriously bummed all last night and today at work until DH e-mailed me and said everything was ok with his father and they could still come and stay and take care of the dog! It's been an extremely long year with my husband's motorcycle accident and then our kitchen remodel, we really need this vacation! I hated the idea of having to cancel..

The new iPhone 4Gs was announced today. Pretty cool overall, but probably only considered a minor upgrade from the 4. But some of the new voice command stuff is AMAZING.

Apple released the iPhone 4S today. It's got some pretty nice features including what I feel is the most important, a voice assistant. Finally I can speak my texts into the phone! They also signed on the Sprint, so Sprint customers now can have iPhones. Some other stuff too, but the voice assistant was the big one for me.

Where it everyday. She'll get a lot more attention that way and probably some special treats as well. I wore mine the whole time and probably had about 300 people say Happy Birthday to me (even guests)... I got cards & special desserts at meals. The characters pay more attention to you. It is great!

Definitely wear it the whole time. Birthday buttons are great! And if you have ADRs, make sure they know ahead that it's her birthday. They'll do a special treat.

Thanks for the suggestions re: my son's insomnia. The doctor recommended that I give him an extra dose of his Meds. And we'll increase his evening dose on our next visit. Apparently ADHd-related insomnia (from the condition not the Meds) is really common. It makes total sense but I wish his old doctor had told us. So I'm feeling much better about the whole thing.

Today I discovered Magical Mouse Radio. Google it; it's totally cool. In the car DS and I listened to Hallowishes.

My work was offering free flu shots today, and I was considering not doing it since I leave in 3 days, but I REALLY don't want to sick on vacation, so I did get one (so did DBF). I'm a little achy now, but hopefully that will pass...

I would have held off. It usually takes about 2 weeks for antibodies to develop in the body, so depending on your trip, you may not even be protected until you get back.

I have had side effects the last couple of years. I get the low grade fever and aches mostly. Last year they lasted 4 days. I got this years yesterday and I am feeling pretty yuck today, though no where as bad as last year.

Edit: Just saw the "free" part (told you I was feeling out of sorts). I wouldn't have passed up on a free one, unless you had another opportunity after your trip. Mine was $25.
