***OFFICIAL*** October 2011 - Updated 10/08/11

Good Morning, everyone!!!! :):goodvibes

Just wanted to let you all know that the first post has been updated as of this morning; I think I added another seven or so people. Wow!!! Also, for those of you still reading this thread but not posting....could you please review your entry on the list and let me know if it needs any changes? I know some people didn't post where they were staying, others didn't post their dates and I have OCD, so I want to make sure the list is as accurate as possible.

Also, a little news about my trip. As many of you know, when the free dining dates were announced, my arrival date was blacked out. We (DH and I) made alternate plans to stay at Buena Vista Suites. And as much as the suites are calling to me, we did have dining reservations that we planned on (most notably Tusker House and California Grill). Well, I have reviewed the numbers over and over the past week and finally convinced hubby that if a room only discount is released (or, by all that is holy, I get a PIN), we can stay at POR!!!!!!! We would obviously do a split stay, but I am not overly concerned about switching rooms or anything. I live out of a suitcase when I travel, so the only things that would need to be packed up would be the bathroom stuff.

So, please wish me luck as I endeavor to call Disney yet again and beg and plead for a PIN code.

I hope everyone has a great day today!!!!!

Thanks for adding me! I hope you get a pin or discount ...

Didn't get a PIN or any discount as of yet, but today I said "screw it!". lol I am now booked for three days of room only and six days on a free dining package. I had to downgrade to a standard room (I had original booked us preferred), but I have no problem with that! It saved us $253 and my hubby said he liked the walk to the main building.

Anyhow, let's keep this thread rolling....I am sure some of us are getting very, very excited.

cdarl4517 and bellanotte10, I'm adding you to the first post. Welcome!

For those of you experienced Oct travelers, do you know if they usually extend the regular park hours?

Right now DHS closes at 7 and I'm hoping they extend them as we are a night owl family!:rolleyes1

 Congrats on staying on-site! I know that was a hard decision for you to make, but ya know...you only live once, so ya might as well live it up!

Found DH a light blue button-down shirt for his Ken costume today on clearance at Target for $4.98! Now I just need to get the leopard print painted on.:rotfl: His ebay shorts arrived and they are a little darker blue than I was expecting, but they will work and they were long enough that he can roll them up a few times without looking COMPLETEY ridiculous. Though, I guess when pairing it with the leopard print shirt, his "ridiculousness" level will GREATLY increase. Plus, we can't forget about the blue ascot!:lmao: This MNSSHP is gonna be great!

Today, I also ordered DD the ear hat she wanted while we were @WDW last June, but we never saw it again that trip and had to leave without it. I plan to give it to her as we board the plane in an attempt to distract her from the "impending doom" that she is expecting. :rotfl: She has never flown and she is SO nervous! DS is excited, but I ordered him a Jake and the Neverland Pirates tee as a surprise because I knew he wouldn't wear any ears. He is strictly a baseball cap kid.

Haven't been on here much because I am down in Indiana and going shopping tomorrow with my sister (and her entourage) for her wedding gown!:bride: Have to be back to Ohio on Monday for meet the teacher night and school starts Wednesday! Once school starts, time is REALLY gonna start to fly by.

Only 63 days!!!

I am so very happy for you, Congrates on booking!!!

I called today and made the reservation for our dog at the kennel, although as of yet I have not rec'd the email confirmation I was told would come. Looks like I will be calling back tomorrow.

Yesterday my new vera bradley bag came and today the shirts I ordered for DH and I for MNSSHP came from Disney :yay:

67 More Days I so can not wait!

My DS and DD flew for the first time this year. They were a little nervous, but both ended up loving it!:thumbsup2

The only problem my DD had was her ears. We tried gum, yawning, and all the usual tricks and nothing worked. a nurse was sitting with us and she suggested Children's Sudafed the day prior and the day of a flight. We tried that on the return flight and it worked like a charm! She still had her ears stopping up, but no pain. :woohoo: DS didn't have any problem at all.

We have the same countdown! I'm getting so excited!

Thank you ladies so much!!!! You really do know how to make a chickie feel good!!!

The thing was, when I sat there and looked at what we would pay for the two meals (not to mention the counter service and such on a daily basis), it was just not worth it to stay off-site....my savings were eaten up. And leave it to my hubby to insist we eat at the California Grill. *sigh*

Anyway.....smith, girlfriend, you go with your bad self on the costumes.....I can't do that to save my life. Not a artistic bone in this body, all logic. And sjs, just showed my hubby the shirts....he really likes them! You guys are going to have such fun at MNSSHP. We're a been there, done that family.

Have a great night...I just have to finish up a few things on the puter and then I am going to relax for the remainder of the evening (I hope).

StitchSpawn and 4 more at SSR, Saratogo Springs Resort :goodvibes Oct 9-15, giving a live report throughout my trip. *Official*

We did the same thing! Only my shirt is the vampire mickey...gonna be a great party! Can't wait!!!

StitchSpawn, you've been on the first post, so I just confirmed it and you are good to go.

I have been awake since 5 am....darn thunderstorms. I've always been afraid of them and early this morning a doozy rolled in. UGH I am worse than my DS2....I tried to sleep through it, but I couldn't (I was shaking too bad). So, off go the covers and out to my office I come (although, I can't really call it my office anymore, my hubby has taken over. ;)). Anyway, I have the music loud enough to cover most of the booming and I am staring at the screen to avoid seeing the lightning.

I am so excited that we are staying at POR!!! I found my vacation file from last trip (yes, I have a file with all our receipts and such in it) and pulled out the map. I know it sounds weird, but I am hoping to be in either building 17 or 24. Right next to the parking lot and a pool. Ah, well....we'll see.

Everyone have a great day. I think I'm going to go watch movies with crappy English humor (my husband makes that joke, not me).

I am getting really excited now myself, even thinking I might go ahead and buy the tickets early, my plan was to wait and get them once we were down there but now that I have the shirts ;)

DH said we " could go " if I really wanted to but he was not dressing up, I was overjoyed when I showed him the Jack shirt and he said he would wear it, he refuses to wear Disney shirts unless it is a resort or very tiny logo on it, so this is a major coup for me. :rolleyes1

I like the mickey vampire shirt too but I did not see it until I had already ordered the ones I did.

POR is a beautiful resort I have only stayes at POFQ which we loved but I have poured over the sites about POR and fell in love with it too. I am so happy for you.

Thunderstorms do not bother me unless there is a threat of tornados but my golden retriever hates them and never fails to come and crawl up with me or DH day or night when we are having one, so I am usually up too during them.

Thanks for the kind words. I just love POR and the more I thought about it....even with more room, I probably would've been "pouty" if we stayed at Buena Vista Suites. Yes, it's a great rate and I will keep it in mind for the future, but not this time. This time I worked hard for my vacation fund and I'll be darned if I'm not staying on property....whatever I have to do to justify it to myself. lol

How old is your golden? I love my Amber fourth of July weekend in 2003, she had just turned 12. I miss her so much still. She was like a best friend and a child rolled up in to one. I remember my husband said "she must really love you" once after we had had an argument and I had curled up with Amber and cried into her fur. She was wet from tears and snot (is that TMI? lol) and she was perfectly content to let me cry on her. My older two had some time with her as well and for that I am grateful.

Now I have two Siamese cats and a small black lab. The lab belongs to my son although I think hubby takes care of her more. The Siamese go with whoever they feel will benefit them most at that time. LMAO.....they're great cats though...kinda like a dog, they fetch and eveything.

Have a great day!

So sorry about your loss of Amber. Bella will be six Oct 16th just days before we leave and as usually we will have a little party for her. She is the best dog we ever have had. We had a black lab for my oldest son which we ended up having to get rid of (we were renting) and Duke was a one dog destruction team :rotfl:
We bought a sheltie Lassie after my youngest DS :littleangel: was born and she lived to be 17 so it was very hard when we had to put her down :sad1:
I chose to get a retriever this time since over the years I had met quite a few that neighbors had, even one at the farm where we use to go to get ice cream and she has not disappointed us at all.
Your crying into Ambers fur made me smile, remembering all the times I have hugged Bella in my times of need. Such wonderful gentle dogs goldens are.

I use to be a cat person, never had a dog when growning up and I had a few that I remember fondly and do miss. I had to half siamese Bandit and Simba both great cats, among others over the years.

Hope your day goes wonderfully too. Right now I am a bit wet just came in from taking Bella out, her retractable leash broke and I have not been out to pick up a new one yet so had to use the short one and could not stay under the porch overhang.

US, too! I jumped straight up in bed. I'm less skiddish about T-storms than tornado warnings and HIGH WINDS scare the bejeebers out of me. DD, jumped in bed and fell back to sleep. I got up and took care of the animals.

I lost my Amber fourth of July weekend in 2003, she had just turned 12. I miss her so much still...

Now I have two Siamese cats.

Sorry about your dog, I miss our dearly departed dogs. You have pets for a lot of years and they are family. My one dog is not the same after the lost of our last beautiful Border collie/Aussie mix - Dusty. If you say his name, her ears still perk up and he's been gone over 2 years.

Everytime I hear about Siamese cats, I hear that song from Lady and the Tramp! We are Siamese, if you please... :lmao:

It's interesting about your post regarding losing your savings from staying off site. My T/A told me this, but I chalked it up to them trying to sell a Disney resort, but if they are offering FD and you want it, it's a better deal to stay onsite in the end, I guess. Getting closer.....

Thanks. Yes, I hear the Siamese song in my head a lot, too and when it comes on when we are in the car, we turn it up and all sing along to it. The thing is, I have never met a Siamese that acts like that. :rotfl: They are such intelligent, gentle cats. I have Origato (Ari for short) out here in the office with me right now and all he keeps doing is licking my arm and purring and head butting me to pet him while I'm not typing. He is so lovable and so was our Kate (we had to put her down in February at the very young age of 7). Then there is Danae.....she is a black Siamese cause her dad was a black tabby. She has all Siamese attitude, but a tabby body......she is almost 20 pounds!!!! I kid you not....I'll have to post the pics on facebook. She got so fat after she was spayed. We make fun of her, but she really is like one of the kids.

I am so excited to stay on-site. Like I said, it was all in the numbers and, as much as they do try and convince you to stay onsite, the free dining really does cinch it.

Hopefully, you guys didn't get that severe weather toppling in from Indiana too bad. And if any of my DIS friends are from Indiana, my thoughts are with you and I hope you are all ok.

Has anyone noticed the change made on the DW website? The removed the $69 room sale, under the Room Discounts. Now it just says 40% off for service people. Maybe there will be a Room Discount coming out in the morning. Here's hoping!!:cheer2:

Yes, that deal ended yesterday. Which is why there's so much speculation about a new deal this week. That and several CMs saying there would be "mid-August" discounts. Last year they were released on the 16th. But I plan to be up to check tomorrow.

I really hope it's not Tuesday, as F&W events open on Tuesday. I don't want to be trying to do both at once.

ugg - calendar is down and i wanted to check park times and do some more planning (okay play around because I am tired of cleaning house):lmao:

kids are working on the countdown calendar and having a great time. So glad I let them do it what a great math project.
