Hello all,

I hope it's not too late to join the party! My family will be there October 16-21 and we are staying at AKV Kidani!!!:banana: I am so excited for this trip!! I know it will be a once in a lifetime opportunity! I can't wait to here of other families perhaps staying here and what they have found out about the resort!

Never too late! Welcome!! :cheer2:

OT question for everyone - so I'm looking into what it takes to become a travel agent because I'm bored with my career and seem to spend all my time researching trips to Disney or other places. I know the rules are different for each state, but I'm having a really hard time even finding out how to start. Does anyone know how to even become a travel agent? Are there classes at specific schools or do you have to just find a job first and do an apprenticeship or something (is that even a work? It should be a word, right?? :thumbsup2). I live in PA and I know you need a license to be one, but I cannot find anything to start. DH works with someone whose wife is one and I got her info, but they are on vacation for a week and I've been asked to wait for a while to contact her. I'm not very patient. :lmao:

Anyone?

My fiance and I will be on our Disneymoon Oct 17th-22nd! We already have tixs for the MSSCHP on the 18th!

Congratulations!!! I hope you two have a wonderful time! My family and I are also going to the MNSSHP on the 18th!! I think there will be quite a few DISers there!

Can you call around to current travel agents and ask if they have any thoughts/suggestions on how you could get started? Have you tried googling travel agent schools in PA? I can't at work as it's blocked! :(

Maybe check your local Community College? I took travel agent courses about 12 years ago to prepare for a license exam. And I know recently they offered courses to become Disney Certified. Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for the info! I had googled before but hadn't found much and I was going to wait and talk to this woman who is an agent to find out details, but I figured I'd check in with the megaminds that are my peeps on the October 2011 thread! Jackpot!! :cool1: And how exciting that they now have a specific Disney program! Yay!!

Rorey - Thanks for letting everyone know about this. I had been planning on doing it when we were booked at CR since they have the boat to FW, but now that we are at the BC I decided against it because of the transportation issues getting back and forth from FW if you do not have a car. I bet you will have a blast!

lol uh oh what transportation issues? :scared1:

I barely made it this week. LOL. I thought I would post to let you all know that I was alive and not exactly well. LOL. I worked Tue-Sat 12 hour night shift. Well, left early last night, and was going to work tonight, but ds has been sick since Monday with strep throat and high fevers. DH calls me at work and tells me ds's temp is 104, he put him in a bath and it came down to 103 and what can he give him. I instantly called the pediatrician on call and they don't call back, the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta nurse calls me back. WHAT?! I ended up leaving work and taking ds to the Children's hospital and they sent us home with the diagnosis of a viral infection with a touch of pneumonia on top of his strep throat, but they do not change his antibiotic! Was going to work tonight because ds was feeling a little better and my family wanted to take me out for Mother's Day, BTW Happy Mother's Day everyone. While at the restaurant, ds decides to vomit over everything, should have known that was going to happen. I called out of work because he has been going downhill ever since. I am just going to be his healthcare staff for the night and take him back to the pediatrician's tomorrow. Sometimes I just hate being a nurse, because the ER MDs from the Children's hospitals sends us home because of that fact and want me to care for him. When he is sick, I am MOM, not RN. Ok, getting off my soapbox. It may be a few more days before I update the list due to ds's illness. And I signed up for 5 more 12 hour shifts again this week, I must have IDIOT & BROKE written on my forehead. LOL.

It is not all that bad, but I just detest having to take more than one mode of transportation to get somewhere on Disney Property. It is easy to get to FW if staying at WL or CR since there is a boat that will take you there and back.

What I found that I do not like is if you drive you have to park in a lot then take the internal resort bus to get to your final destination same thing going back to the parking lot you have to get a bus to get back to your car.

If bus is your only mode of transportation you have to take a bus from your resort to say MK then catch the boat at CR to me it is just a hastle if not staying at WL or CR

Ugh! I hope DS is feeling better soon! I know how you feel. My mom is a nurse and she says the same thing. Plus I worked in IT and anyone who works in a "service" industry knows how it is to be asked for free advice. You want to be the comforter, not the caretaker. I get that. Hang in there! :grouphug:

Happy belated Mother's Day to all appropriate! :flower3:

I've made my rough plans, but now I'm second guessing myself. Look over our plans and critique them. A few details. We love to eat at Epcot and tend to park hop. This is our 3rd trip, but DS's first trip. I think I'm starting to realize that we wont be able to do as much as normal and want to make the best use of my time.

:scared1: I just had a freak out! With the big controversy with our governor and the teachers and state workers, I just heard a rumor that they are going to cancel our big statewide teacher's convention in October. This is when we are going so that we don't have to take the kids out of school so many days!

I called the district and they said since the calendar is already released for next year even if they cancel the WEAC convention they will still have staff development days.

Whew!! Where is the sweating buckets in relief icon??

You would think with being a nurse they would realize you probably wouldn't bring your DS to the ED if you didn't feel he was sick enough to go. Hopefully this week is better and you can get thru your next set of 12's.

You sound like DH and myself , we also love to eat at Epcot, normally take a break mid afternoon 2-4 and park hop. :thumbsup2

The only day I might second guess is Oct 20, if it were me I would probally schedule MK for in the am and Epcot in the pm, I know that would mirror your next day but heading over to MK late afternoon on a party night I would be afraid of it being busy since day guest are still there and party goers start arriveing at 4 pm. You do not have anyplace listed to eat at MK? but expect most places to be packed due to overlapping of guests as mentioned above.
