My mom and I were chatting about Disney on Monday...she wants to go for the food and wine fest..She texted me an hour later "I made the res.." Well guess we're going to Disney ;) lol We are staying POFQ Oct.2-9 this will be my first stay there, but her 4th or 5th. I'm super excited bc it's just me and my mom going. First time I'll get to spend time with just her.
Still undecided about the MNSSHP I'm thinking we may go I'd like to see the fireworks...and Malificent :)

Sounds like a fun Mother/Daughter trip! Enjoy!!! :goodvibes

:banana:i just made fd ressies for pop 10/27 to 11/1 for holloween with my younest ds 11. My husband and my oldest are going hunting for the long weekend, so i made booked a disney vacation. You should have seen the look on my husbands face... priceless........ My son has asked to go to disney at holloween for the last 3 years, so i just decided what the heck and booked it. I had a credit with jet blue so my plane tickets cost me $25 for the both of us round trip and then free dining came out, it was a no brainer.:cool1::cool1:

Hey guys, I've been away for a few days. Didn't get FD for my dates but that's OK since we already had the mil. discount. Didn't need to eat that much food anyway!:lmao:
Well Monday is my official first day back to work(been there several days already off the clock :sad2:). So time will start flying for me which makes going back to school easier! That much closer to... ::MickeyMo::MinnieMo
:tinker: I can't wait till October!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck on your first day back! :goodvibes
My first day back is Monday 15th and the students show up Wednesday (I teach upper secondary - year 10-12). My plan is to get into work mode on Monday and start prepping, but I have a feeling I'll be reading DIS and making touring plans instead. Work is getting in the way of my planning! :lmao:

Tambam, really? If you don't get a fastpass you can't get on or you'll wait a long time on line? I'm getting a little dissappointed :(. I picked Oct. because I read that it wasn't that busy. I joined touring plans and even the busiest parks on EMH days are at most a 5. I just assumed this would be fine and I'd be able to get on everything I wanted. I keep hearing about parks being packed and restaurants being packed with long wait times because of FD. I thought I picked a good time of year to go. Sounds like there is no good time of year to go.

I don't plan on making any RD's. I thought I would be abel to leasurely go to the parks when we woke up and got ready and would still get everything in. I guess I need to rethink my strategy:confused3
unfortunately, there is NOT a slow time at WDW anymore. It seems it is always busy, just sometimes are less busy than others. October shouldn't be crazy, but TSM ALWAYS has long lines, it seems to be the one attraction is always crazy, no matter the time of year. I don't get the draw myself, i enjoy it, but wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes for it. Of course I went to the DIS private party where we got to ride it after hours over and over, so maybe i burned out. But i do recommend doing RD or at least shortly after. Even then, know your return time might be in the afternoon, so be prepared. You shouldn't have problems with other attractions, that one is just crazy! :lmao::thumbsup2

FD is blacked out for my dates as well....Oct. 15-22. I kind of thought they would be since the one PIN I received in the mail had that week blacked out.

I planned this trip full well expecting to pay full price and a discount would be a bonus. Oh well...we'll still be there.

Out of curiosity...does anyone have tips for getting PINS? I am registered with my e-mail and home address on Disney's site. I have priced MULTIPLE vacations and saved them on Disney's site. I have ordered the Vacation Planning DVD...for the last 2 years. Any other suggestions? I have gotten ONE PIN in the mail in the last year and NEVER gotten an e-mail PIN! I was just wondering if anyone has done anything and had big success with getting multiple PINS?
I noticed we got a pin after we ordered the customized maps on the site. and the maps are really cool too- a great little souvie or memory to keep too! We've only gotten two pins ever, one for FD (which later went public for all anyhow) and one in DH's name, to my mom's address (postcard) for room discount.

So happy that our dates have been blacked out for the new free dining special. Not sure why those dates are blacked out, but I'm happy. Sorry, not a big fan of free dining and the crowds that come along with it.
I am so with you. I know there are some big conventions in town that week that might be taking up lots of rooms in the Epcot resorts, but they shouldn't affect park crowds etc. (believe me, the times I've had a convention in Orlando, we were so busy, we didn't get to do the parks or only for a few hours iwth the special after 4pm convention ticket). So it shouldn't affect parks, just rooms. i can't find the info on what conventions they are. but apparently the week of the 15th.

Welcome back! You were definitely missed! I know what you mean about getting consumed by things! Better grab some caffeine and settle in :surfweb:....you're gonna be here a while to get caught up! :rotfl2:
Thanks!!! so glad to be back and catching up. I am finally all caught up now!:rotfl:

Vegas, baby! :cool1: I hope you had fun at least!

:darth::chewy::yoda: 79 today!!!!!!!!! (alright, the first one was 1977, but close enough!!) :woohoo:

Honestly, without this countdown I think I'd fall into a pit of despair (movie quote...). Just found out this week our new CEO thinks we need to go "lean, lean, lean" and we all know what that means. Not only do I do training, but I was the last one on my team. If I get laid off, it'll be the 2nd time in 3 years. I'm not as concerned about the financial aspect because I know we can get by if we bare down, but I just started in this field and finding another job without much experience is going to be tough in this market. Plus it seems every time I go back to school, they lay me off! :lmao: Let me finish a freaking year, would you!! At least I'll get a semester done, this time!! I'm telling you, without this trip and my DD (DH is frequently on my list these days too :rotfl2:), and of course you guys to brighten my day, those days would be GLOOMY!!! :sad2:

So there is a need... :dancer: Geez, who made him? He's just awful!
so sorry to hear it, keep us posted on what happens and I'll send a little pixie dust your way. I've been laid off twice and I know it isn't fun!

70 days!!! woo hoo :woohoo::yay::dancer::dancer::dancer:

there's a little creepy guy for your fabulous Friday!

Finally caught up on the boards a bit! So excited that we are getting closer. I started my GardenGrocer order today, so that's one thing down. Also ordered my personalized autograph book on shutterfly today too! Now just to buy MNSSHP tickets and finalize the schedule, plus rental car.

I also need to check out all the yumminess of the F&W and make up a plan for it too! So much to do!

and our short little weekend trip to San Diego is just 2.5 weeks away. We are spending two nights at the Disneyland Hotel on points (GCV was sold out)- and spending one day at Disneyland (8/27). I booked dinner at Goofy's Kitchen today and lunch at Blue Bayou. Park is open 7am-12am that day (with MM). yeah! looking forward to a short break. We are hitting the beach one morning and the SD zoo too. I even found a disneyland auto book on clearance at the local disney outlet to use for this day!!! woo hoo!

now back to focusing on the big WDW trip!:wizard:

:yay:Only 2 months away!!! I cant wait to see my 3 yr old grandaughters face when we get there!!! Love these boards:)

Were you just supposed to sit at home and wait for him to bring you some meat to butcher? Forget that! Go get a bag of candy from Mickey! Woohoo! :woohoo:

I am so freakin' envious of your Disney Outlet. There isn't one anywhere near us. I would make a day trip out of it for sure.

Hahaha! Me too! Oh well that's why I did some serious planning this summer so I could actually get some work done when school starts back.

Me too! Of course I'd be broke, but still!

Thanks - found out yesterday we got bought already. My company owns 4 sectors and ours got bought by a competitor's holding company. We are the larger of the two, so I'm hoping that's good news for us, but only time will tell. The good news is we got bought by investors, not by another company. Fingers crossed!! :goodvibes

So jealous of your upcoming trip! I've never been to San Diego and would love to go. I've been to So Cal but I just a drive through from LA to Tijuana. I hear San Diego is gorgeous!

I'm pretty excited, I bought some Keens today! I think that my footwear is totally covered now :)

I just bought a cute pair of New Balance today that are super cute and very retro of the 80s Nikes and I'm wearing them around the house now but I think they might be a bit snug. :sad2: I'm a little bummed! Can't have snug shoes with Disney swollen feet!!!

Subscribing!

We are headed to Pop Century on October 25 with Free Dining.
6 nights
Base tickets
Disney Dining Plan
2 connecting rooms

Me, my DH, and our two kids - DD3 and DS8.

Plans: 2 days at MK, 2 @ EP, 2 @ HS and 1/2 day at AK.

Our ADRs:

Boma on arrival day (1st time) (we want to check out AKL for possible trip next year)
Garden Grill (1st time)
Crystal Palace
Spirit of Aloha (1st time)
Sci-Fi
Akershus

As you can tell, we prefer the character meals over the meet n greets. We are trying some new restaurants this time, along with a lot of new attractions.

Now the wait begins!

First wait: until 8/18 when my bonus check comes in to pay for our trip and airfare. Right now I have priced all of us at $707 round trip from Dallas to Orlando. That's pretty awesome, so if everyone could keep their fingers crossed for 12 days, let's hope it stays that low.

I just got DH to commit to going to MNSSHP. I showed him a Jack Skellington T-shirt and he said he would wear it! So I ordered it and an Evil Queen one for myself. A T-shirt is my best hope at an attempt to get DH to dress up for the party.

Hope to be attending the Party on Oct 21st, I really do not want to buy the tickets early so I have fingers crossed they do not sell out early.

Well... we weren't supposed to be returning to the World until May/June of next year.;) But the Free Dining bug bit us...56 FREE snacks for the Food and Wine Festival :lovestruc were calling our name...looks like we will be booking a Value for 10/26-11/2.

I bought shoes today too! All 4 of us got Crocs and we started looking for some new sneakers. We hit a New Balance store, but they kind of sucked in terms of selection (and price!). We also went to a Nike Factory Store and I learned that Nikes run too narrow for my feet. I have to go up a half size to even sort of get a comfortable fit, so those wont work. My hubby and one of my sons had the same problem, but my older son walked out happily with two new pairs.

I have to say, the shoe thing is what I am most worried about for our trip. I have been researching like crazy to find out how to prevent foot pain during our 10 days there. It would suck royally to hit day 4 and not be able to trudge our way through the park. :scared1:

I am with you on worrying about the shoe thing and the foot pain. Brent and I did 6 or 7 days last time and were pretty hard core and our feet were KILLING us! This trip we have 8 days and I'm nervous. DD12 and I can share shoes so we can switch back and forth at the park to help which is really nice. I am loving the Keens, though. I put them on today and I swear my feet sighed :cloud9:

I've been considering a pair of Keens, too, but I can't buy them in Denmark so I'd have to order them online. I'm just not sure that's worth it - ordering footwear online seems to always result in returns

I did manage our last 14-day Disney vacation with a minimum of foot problems and no blisters :woohoo: One pair of sneakers, two pairs of sandals and some Crocs flip-flops meant that I could change footwear every time we were in the room. Putting on shoes again after 7 hours in the park and just one hour's rest isn't fun, but it helped a lot to put on different ones each time :thumbsup2:lmao:

I swear by my Tevas and moleskin when necessary.

This! I am a huge fan of Teva sandals. I usually put body glide on my feet the first 2 days or so and have never gotten a blister. Hubby and kids think body glide is gross and don't want to use it--lol. They usually switch off wearing Tevas and tennies but I always wear Tevas only in the parks. After water rides when my feet get wet and dry quickly while they are squeaking in their shoes, I have the last laugh(hahaha--told ya so):rolleyes1

I bought myself a pair of Teva's about a month ago and have been breaking them in. Love them. I find the Crocs get hot on my feet. But I will take them for the pool.
