Just found myself at the top of the list w/o my dates. You can drop me to the bottom. We arrive 11/30-12/9 for our 25th anniversary celebration trip at the Poly!

I have decided that I’m not packing :eek:until 5 days away from the day I leave, I just attempted to pack and realized I’m packing for all four seasons, it’s insane:dance3:! Shorts jeans crops t shirts sweatshirts, bathing suits?!?!?!?!?!?!?:sad2:

I always wait untill the 10 day weather forcast is out. And I still end up packing for all 4 seasons:confused:!

Do we have to confirm dining reservations? I have two princess meals and one Tusker House meal reserved for next week, should I call?

hahahaaa!! I do the same thing!! :rotfl:
I dont know why I even bother checking the weather, I'm going to pack everything under the sun "just in case" anyways!!

22 days!!!:woohoo: Calling Disney to confirm my dining & put in my room requests today.:dance3:

I did the same thing yesterday. As far as the dining, I only called because some of the ADR's weren't showing up online. They were all there, it's a website glich. But I also had to cancel a few ADR's, and since they weren't showing up online I had to cancel them over the phone.

When you start planning a vacation 6 months out or more, it's just so hard to believe it when it gets this close.

Almost there and I still haven't told DD about our trip. Original plan was to tell her on our way to the airport, but I'm still not sure about that. :) My original thinking was to not tell her so she wouldn't be distracted at school, etc, but she wakes up everyday telling me the countdown to Halloween, so I guess having Disney to look forward to for just a week wouldn't be such a bad thing... :)

She's 7, do you think there is any benefit to telling her now vs the day of departure?

I think it would depend on how your child handles surprises, or changes in plans.

Example: I originally planned on doing an elaborate ruse for my DS 10 when we go in a few weeks, pretending to my parents and then stopping off at Disney .. just for the day However, after careful consideration, I've realized that he is much like me. He likes to plan things out, have a good grasp of what's going to happen. So we backed it up to the drive down from his mom's house. A whole day earlier :lmao:...... see lot's of time for him to plan and get comfy with the idea right? right? :rotfl2:

Pumba's Truth is right- it depends on your child. I waited until we were in the car and over 2 hours down the road to WDW before I told DD (then 9). She was thrilled- cried with joy when she found out and told me I was "the best Mom ever!!" She LOVES surprises, though, and has been to WDW often enough that she doesn't bother with pre-planning. She leaves it all up to me.

If you have a little one who really enjoys the anticipation and planning, and you can put up with the hourly questions of "How long until we leave, Mom?", then go ahead and tell her as a special Halloween surprise. You could even make it a fun scavenger hunt for her.

If she is a roll-with-the-punches type who likes surprises, wait until you are on your way. She will be thrilled and remember this trip as the one where she didn't know she was going until the day she left. DD still loves to tell people about her surprise trip, and it has been almost 3 years ago.

Oh OH OH....... how about this .... put together a Disney themed Halloween treat and stick it in her loot bag... so when y'all are going through it after trick-or-treating or whatever she can be like ..."What's this? I don't remember getting this... ?" She opens it up and wham!!! "Surprise!!!! We're going to DISNEY!!!!!"

Of course, that means you get both the surprise and the planning elements with the anticipation of departure.

Just a thought anyways.

IMO this is a GREAT idea. I wish I hadn't told my dd we were going. ;) She isn't sure when, but she loves not knowing. 10Days!!!
