Hi all,
Our family is going to Disney World October 27 to November 3rd. We are Janice, John DH, Sophie DD 10 and Nicole DD 8 and we come from Ottawa, Ontario Canada. We have never been to Disney World before and this is a wish from the Children's Wish Foundation for Nicole. We are hoping to go the the MNSSHP on the 31st. Anyone who has any tips for first timers, we would be happy to here from. Also, anyone who has any info for Wish Families.

We are so excited:woohoo:

Got Halloween costumes for the girls today. Nicole will be Mulan and Sophie will be Elizabeth Swan as a Geisha.:yay:

I am happy that Nicole is getting her wish granted. I hope your trip is filled with pixie dust and lots of magic. pixiedust:

That's so FANTASTIC!:cheer2: I hope you all have a wonderful trip! :cloud9:

Does anyone know if they give you bags to do the Trick-or-Treating or do you need to bring your own? I just want to be prepared.

Also, this is our 1st MNSSHP, and I wasn't going to have my kids dress up, I just think they would be too hot, so I am going to make T-shirts for the whole family. Am I going to regret not having them in costumes once I get there? They will be 9 and 6 when we go. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Never been to halloween...be our first time. However, I cant see NOT letting a kid dress up. They may be hot, but I think the suffering would be worth it. You certainly can choose outfits that are not so hot. Heck a girl could be jasmine..not much to that outfit

We are on an adult only trip and we plan on dressing up, and when we have sweated ourselves enough we will drag ourselves back to the resort and take a shower. I think half the fun will be taking part of the full event.

Yes, they provide cute little plastic bags. It was easy to fill ours up with all the great (brand name) candy! :)

Last year we saw plenty of kids with family shirts on like you're planning on doing. I'd say it was 50/50 with kids dressed up or not dressed up. Don't worry about it. Have fun! :)

They give every member of your party a Trick or Treat bag when you enter the party, so you don't have to bring your own. Save the extra bags if the grown ups won't be T-or-T'ing- you can put all that extra heavy candy in it (we got TONS- and it was just our 1 DD getting candy).

I second the opinion that your kids will really want to dress up- most kids do, and they will probably feel left out if they don't. There are lots of not-so-hot costume options out there, if you look around. They could be pirates with just a ragged T and shorts- throw on a bandana, carry a "sword", and draw on a tattoo, and you're good to go. Or, for a girl, you could do Jasmine as already suggested, or a cheerleader- short skort and tank with pom poms and ponytails.

Have fun! :cool1:

Post #1 in this forum mentions the variety of characters at the party both handing out treats and in Toontown. I have a couple questions:

1. Can you get photos and autographs from the characters passing out treats? or is that frowned upon because that holds up the line :confused3

2. What are the lines like for the ques in Toontown hall of Fame? I have to waste a lot of party time inside waiting for a meet&greet

Going October 4th!!!:hmghost:

We're going the 4th too! :)

To answer Q #1, we never saw actual characters (Mickey, Goofy, etc) hand out candy. It was always Cast Member's handing it out.

#2, lines were nearly non existant all over the park including meet and greets over at Toontown-especially later at night.

Hope that helps!
Sandy :)

Hey Sandy - Maybe we'll see you there :goodvibes Haven't decided on the costumes yet, so I can't tell you who to look for.

Anyhow... about the characters, again. The characters from Alice in Wonderland that are along the path b/w toon town and space mountain - are they there for meet and greet or is that a treat pathway?

1- Characters don't give out treats- there are characters out and about for meet and greets, where you line up (or just approach them- we didn't ever stand in long lines). some of the meet and greet characters are along a trail where they also give out treats- it is between Toontown and Tomorrowland. The other T-o-T stations are clearly marked, and no characters are there, just CMs, to hand out candy.

2- We found Fantasyland and Toontown to be more crowded than other areas of the park (at least for the first 1/2 of the party). Toontown really thinned out after the fireworks- we got DD's face painted with no waiting and met several characters with very short lines after 10pm. As long as you hit Toontown later in the party, you should be fine. Also, there are lots of characters out in the park- you might not feel the need to wait for the Judge's Tent characters at all.

many of the characters were on that pathway last year for picture taking by the guests.
they would move over on the sidewalk so the candy line could get through

Just ordered our tickets for this year. We have been the last two years and had a wonderful time. We will be there for three parties, October 25, 26, and 28.

Now, I'd better get started on costumes.

Lucyanna Girl and The Dark Dancer

Hey Three Cabs! We'll be there right at the same time as you too! This will be our first time there ever together and will be both of our first times ever attending a MNSSHP (on the 28th - it'll be our first night at Disney). And it's so funny, we'll be at Tony's for our 5:15 ADR, so we'll see you there too! How cool!! :rotfl:

Count me in on the 28th. First MNNSHP for us!!!! We have ADR at 4:30 at LTT.

we're going the night of our 5th wedding anniversary: october 5th. We can't wait!

what are the crowds like for the event as far as rides?

I am very excited about this trip as we are taking our two DGSs(6&8)and it will be their first time to the world and all our first times to MNSSHP..

Too...COOL!:teeth:

We will be at our first MNSSHP on 9/14!!!!

I have appreciated all the helpful information on the board!

I have learned that because of the heat I choose costumes wisely....
DDs 8 & 5 are going as Lilo.... Short grass skirt, leis for wirst/ankle, cute swim top, sandles, little flower for side of hair. They look adorable and comfy/cool. I am going as Lilos big sister :rolleyes1 w/same outfit. DH and DS16 are going as Hawaiin surfer dudes. Not fancy but again cool (and they both agreed to dress up was this)

Thanks everyone for the wonderful advice... I am SO EXCITED!!!!!!!
