"Official" Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2016 - Have Yourself a Very Mickey Christmas.

Yes! You don't need any regular theme park ticket to go to the Christmas party - other than the event ticket.
Great, thanks! I was worried that the system would still see I was in another park and, knowing Disney's system, throw a big fit.

I have only been to MVMCP one time, in 2010 a week before Thanksgiving. It was on a Tuesday night (or something like that) and had a VERY light crowd. In fact, we rode SM twice without any wait at all. We are going again this year, but can only make the Dec 18 or Dec 22 parties.

Question: how different will the crowds be at the Dec 18 and 22 parties than a normal evening that week? I imagine they will be lighter, but not as spare as my previous MVMCP visit. In other words, can we still expect 1-2 hour waits for rides? Thanks!

This is exactly what I logged on to ask! We are planning to attend on 12/22, but if the ride lines will be comparable to wait times during non-party hours, I'll save myself $600.

Trying to decide which day to go to party, Nov 7, 8, 10, or 11. I figure the first two will be the people trying to hit MNSSHP and MVMCP, and the last 2 will include Jersey Week people. There is a price difference on Nov 10, cheaper. Does that mean expected crowds are less that day, based on crowd pricing?

I think that's a safe assumption.

But it also means it might attract more people because of the lower price.

Clear as mud, huh? ;)

I would avoid the first night and any Friday night, then just choose one that best fits my schedule.

Has the new pricing turned anyone off? Or just grumbles and still going anyway?
Turned off. We were thinking about it but when I saw the pricing it was too much $ for our family to risk my 6 year old having a meltdown and having to leave early. We will just visit MK for fireworks another night and use PPO ADR, RD and FP+ to get on the rides we want with little wait. I think it would have been lots of fun - perhaps if we go another year we'd buy one less day ticket and use the party as an "additional day" ticket while having a pool day before the party. But since I already bought my park tickets, and we are going to have early mornings, our family will take a pass.

I had hoped (knew it was unlikely, but the dream was in the back of my mind) to do 2 MVMCP's but with the pricing increase (and some financial stuff on our end) it looks like we'll be lucky to get one done. If we were going to do 2, we were going to use one party to see all the party stuff and the other one to do more rides. Now we need to combine our two plans into one night.

I would like my daughter to be able to see Tinker Bell fly out of the castle at the beginning of the fireworks show. My plan had been to approach the castle area from Tomorrowland not long before the start of the fireworks. Would that end up being a bad angle since she's on that side? Would it be better to approach from Adventureland instead? I don't want to camp out for the first parade and then the fireworks because we would rather use that time for riding rides. We'll plan to watch the second parade.

Thanks for any tips you might offer!

I am going on 12/8. The price increase sucks but I am going with my son who will be 8 and he has never been, and will only be 8 once, so go we must! We did the halloween party 2 years ago and he completely pooped out after the fireworks, but now he has a lot more stamina and can't wait to party til midnight this time :) We will stake out a good spot for the first parade, watch fireworks and then do rides. He loves characters but has a hard time waiting in long lines (imo character lines are the worst because they feel like they barely move) so we won't be doing any of the ones where people line up for hours. Doing the H&V Holiday Dine so he will have christmas characters there. Just love the parade, fireworks and overall feeling of doing something special.

I haven't purchased my tickets yet, I am waiting to purchase my plane tickets first JUST IN CASE. Flying southwest as well and the moving up of the date to purchase was good (but unexpected) news. Thank god for this board.

I just bought two tickets for 11/10. This will be my first time visiting the party. I guess the price also goes up based on how many people buy tickets?

I'm hoping that the 3rd party is enough for the CMs to start getting in the swing of things and for the initial wave of visits to die off a bit. We'll have to see...

We bought tickets for this event - since we live so far away, we don't go to Disney every year and have never gone - figure that going once will be enough. We bought tickets for Dec 4/16. We will be doing a reg day of Disney for the day then the party - I know that's paying 2x for 1 day, but the way we have the trip set up we can't do it any other way and I'd rather not do another park for reduced hours and rush then trying to get to the MK for after 4pm...so we will do a more leisurely pace at MK that day. Normally I'd go after FP's for SDMT, but wondering if we should get FP's for other attractions since the line ups will be less after 7pm? Or will it?

We are planning on Nov 7th, only one that works with our schedule. I assume ti will be crowded but we did the first one last year and it wasn't too bad. We are also planning on Oct 31st for MNSSHP.

trying to justify the sticker shock for us to attend the party on 12/22..we check in 12/21 and will be there through 12/26. not sure if we should spend the extra for the party or not. any thoughts would be helpful, we have gone to the MNSHP when the kids were young and trips since then always fall over xmas break. I know the parade and usually the fireworks during xmas week are those from the party, so I am still not sure if the added expense of the party (+$400--4 adult tickets) is a must do.....

We just bought our MVMCP tickets for 11/29! It will be my husband, me and our two girls (11 and 7) along with my MIL, FIL, SIL, BIL, two nephews (13 & 11) and niece (8). It is not only our first vacation with our extended family but also our first MVMCP! We are all coming from Texas and are looking forward to some Disney magic and awesome memories! We will be there the week after Thanksgiving so I am hoping it will be slightly less crowded. We are staying at the BCR and the extended family is staying off site (their loss!).

What are your experiences with MVMCP (and DW in general) right after the Thanksgiving week? Less crowds? Nice weather? (I'm hoping for both!)

Thanks!

Well my family of 5 will still be going even with the sticker shock but only because we don't get to WDW very often. This will only be our 2nd trip and 2nd time doing MVMCP, last time was in 2013. We probably won't make it back before my oldest 2 girls graduate so definitely want to do the party. Since it is costing us nearly $500 I am going to wait closer to time to purchase our tickets just in case. We will either go Nov. 29 or Dec 1st.

If we get a four day park hopper and dont visit any park on the day we are going to the Mickeys Christmas Party and we use the event ticket to enter the park??

I have a 4 day park hopper for when we visit Disney in November. I will be in Disney for 5 days. I just booked the Mickeys Christmas party for Nov. 15th.. Instead of going to a park early in the day of the 15th, Can I just use the event ticket to get into the MK for the event or do I have to use one of my 4 days plus the event ticket.
